I like the way Heinlein set it up:

First hurdle: the idea that voting is speech must be quashed, for all eternity. Then, and only then, can restrictions on voting be even remotely considered. Voting must be seen as what it really is, a form of exercising government authority.

Duty in service of the government, in any form, in any capacity, that is satisfactorily completed according to the terms contractually laid out before service commences shall enable the citizen to cast a ballot in any and all government elections.

Interesting ideas, but I have to say, some of it is kind of retarded, and the other problem is it all hinges on having a working system to begin with. But this is theoretical anyway, so the latter is fine, but must be kept in mind.

And, like with any system, all of it is prone to loopholes and corruption. The systems that give the most points will be taken over by the people who want power, leading to similar issues as we currently have in the political class.

(ii) A citizen shall receive 200 Duty Points for each year of service in the country's military...(viii) A citizen shall receive 5 Duty Points for each hour of volunteering for a charitable cause

So a year of miliary service is equivalent to forty hours of volunteer charity? Not only would the math have to be tweaked a lot, but "charitable causes" would have to be tightly regulated or it's an incredibly easy foot in the door for the locusts.

(iii) A citizen shall receive 50 Duty Points for each year of service in the country's civil service;

Rewarding civil service with more power seems like a terrible idea in anything but a perfect system.

(iv) A citizen shall receive 20 Duty Points for every $10,000 paid in taxes to the federal, state, or local government;

The lolbertarian in me wants to scream "taxation is theft" (and it is), but I suppose it's still better to reward the people paying into the system, than those that are a drain on the system, so this is...okay...ish. Once again, loopholes abound though; the people with the most money would be given more power to shape things in ways to give them more money. Although since it seems to be a flat 1,000 threshold versus scaling, probably still fine. Although it does again makes paying $100,000 in taxes equivalent to a year of military service.

(v) A citizen shall receive between 100 and 500 Duty Points for being awarded a "Person of the Year" honor by the President or the Congress, based on their achievements and merits in various fields;

This I like the idea of. There are still issues of abuse, but very cool idea in theory, and I think these should be awarded on the state level as well. And perhaps monthly as well. The idea that people are being recognized for good behavior is a great idea.

(vi) A citizen shall receive 50 Duty Points for having a college degree or higher education;...(vii) A citizen shall receive 10 Duty Points for each donation of blood or organs;

At the risk of being repetitive, this would only work in systems with actually decent education and medical fields.

(ix) A citizen shall receive 100 Duty Points for each adoption of a child or a pet;

Same goes here but, also, is a pet the equivalent of a human child?

(ii) A citizen shall lose 500 Duty Points for committing rape;...(v) A citizen shall lose 100 Duty Points for driving under the influence or DUI;...(vi) A citizen shall lose 500 Duty Points for tax evasion or fraud;...(viii) A citizen shall lose 400 Duty Points for cybercrime or hacking;

So rape and tax evasion carry the same voting demerits? And tax evasion is five times worse than drunk driving, which can kill your fellow citizen? And what's with the very high value for hacking, when it can have varying degrees of victimization?

Also, one big amendment I'd tack on to this is to make it absolutely set in stone, perhaps as something like a constitutional amendment. Otherwise you run into the problem of the people with voting rights being incentivized to vote for representatives who would make it harder to vote, consolidating power in the hands of the citizens who can more easily accrue points.

Oh, and one other big amendment; crimes against children needs to have a massive point loss, especially if you're rewarding people for adopting children. Should be right up there with murder.

(i) A citizen shall receive 100 Duty Points upon being born in the country or upon being naturalized as a citizen;

I would like this part amended to say that you must be born to at least one Natural Born or Naturalized Citizen parent. It prevents anchor babies from being allowed to vote just because they were born in the country to illegals or "temporary workers."

This is easily abusable by leftist nonprofits "accepting " 200 hours from "volunteers."

I object to section 3, article b-vi.

This system is riddled with potential corruption. The sitting government has way too much power over how duty points get assigned, so it effectively ensures the perpetual rule of whichever party is in the majority when its enacted.

Assuming voting matters; punishing tax evasion and piracy harsher than battery; allowing felons to vote as long as they bring enough of their victim's blood to the Red Cross; incentivizing people to sign up for organ donation, which is essentially legalized murder of borderline patients.

The problem is that anything which can be gotten for or done for free is worth nothing. As long as voting is a free thing, people will keep voting blindly.

A much simpler solution is just a poll tax (if we assume the 24th amendment is repealed). Even just a $2-3 poll tax would sort out most of the issues.

Barring that, ban all early voting and virtually all mail-in voting and declare election days holidays. With that, at least people need to choose between "have a day off" and "stand in line" and many people will not care enough to stand in line.

All that would happen by adding a scoring system like this is when -the wrong party- gets"voted" in again.

They'd quickly add their own; -5 for misgendering, -5 for questioning the government, -25 for questioning the efficacy of the COVID vaccine and -100 for every booster you don't take.

And that's mostly ignoring the ways that the wrong party fucks it up in their favour. Attended the Jan 9th "riot" or questioning the legitimacy of an election? Oof. There goes 5 million points and good luck getting them back.

Yeah.... fuck that. There isn't a DMV employee alive that I know of that should be anything other than ground in to fertilizer, and I'll straight up say the dealing with the VA and their shitty employees is part of why we have such a high rate of veteran suicides in this country.

I like the idea. You've hit on all the important pieces more-or-less but some are questionable like the adoption piece or volunteer/charitable piece.

I've come up with suffrage restrictions before and this is what I determined to be best: In order to get 1 vote, you should meet the following criteria:

• 30yo+ age requirement
• Must be 95%+ Racially White
• Must be Male (XY Chromosomes)
• Must be a 3rd generation or older immigrant or native to the country
• Must have at minimum 4 years of non-conscripted military service
• Must be a net positive tax-payer (you pay more taxes than benefits/subsidies you receive from the government)
• Must not be currently incarcerated for being convicted of a crime

This right here would mostly solve the entire voting issue, IMO.
