DFW is full of Conservatives. Fort Worth was the last American city with a population of 1m that had an elected Republican mayor. Until it was followed by a Democrat mayor who switched to Republican…which was Dallas.
It's hard to parse the actual conflict because they purposely kept it vague (and even commenters on YouTube seem to be pointing this out).
It reminds me of a far more veiled attempt at a civil war possibility in America than the out-and-out propaganda piece Bushwick from 2017.
Visually the movie looks grounded and well-shot, and A24 isn't big enough to produce back-to-back failures like Disney, so they're likely betting on trying to break down the middle of the political spectrum by purposely being vague and using the "Texas and California" tag-team to lure people into the theatres. Or at least, that's how the trailer portrays the film.
A lot of commenters definitely seem intrigued but also wary about the potential politics (at least normies are catching on). The scene where the one soldier is asking them what kind of American they are was interesting, but unless they're hardline on pointing out that the subversion and disruption is coming from the DEI + EGS + Rainbow Reich groups then the movie will be a bust in terms of messaging, and we already know they aren't going to display blacks, immigrants, faggots, and Liberal voters as the enemies of Western culture.
The “US Army” is actually the “trump army” (read “mUh HuWyTiE”), and Cali/Texas will be the pro-LGBTQP rainbow forces who ally with Mexico and Canada to overthrow Drumpf
I suppose it could be part of a multi-step thing. California and Texas populists finally resort to whatever they can to kick out the economy sapping illegal aliens, Feds try to intervene, Western states get pissed and give the Fed the middle finger, war ensues.
Unfortunately, I have no faith in modern Hollywood writers to have even an ounce of nuance.
Just from the thumbnail is that supposed to be some retard with neon green hair trying to be in camo? fucking kek
AND painted fingernails.
You don't remember all the TV station hijackings back in the day then. Americans used to know who the enemy was, and we'll remember again.
In a real civil war scenario here, it's open season on camera carriers.
This.
Journalists would be the first to go.
I forgot that Texas and California are neighbors. Definitely no states in between those two who would have to join.
Maybe Austin & DFW area combined with California.

Not realistic enough. Those reporters would've been slaughtered on sight in a real civil war situation coming from today's political climate.
The Revolution will not be televised.

Looking for some more details, it sounds like our main protagonist might be a urnalist played by Kirsten Dunst.
is this even a propaganda piece? you've got US soldiers and US Air Force bombing the shit out of civilians, who seem to be in a sympathetic light.

So it’s still propaganda, just anti-American
