It's hard to parse the actual conflict because they purposely kept it vague (and even commenters on YouTube seem to be pointing this out).
It reminds me of a far more veiled attempt at a civil war possibility in America than the out-and-out propaganda piece Bushwick from 2017.
Visually the movie looks grounded and well-shot, and A24 isn't big enough to produce back-to-back failures like Disney, so they're likely betting on trying to break down the middle of the political spectrum by purposely being vague and using the "Texas and California" tag-team to lure people into the theatres. Or at least, that's how the trailer portrays the film.
A lot of commenters definitely seem intrigued but also wary about the potential politics (at least normies are catching on). The scene where the one soldier is asking them what kind of American they are was interesting, but unless they're hardline on pointing out that the subversion and disruption is coming from the DEI + EGS + Rainbow Reich groups then the movie will be a bust in terms of messaging, and we already know they aren't going to display blacks, immigrants, faggots, and Liberal voters as the enemies of Western culture.
