Even better, they precede comparing their non-white vaginas to experience & success with "Just as tellingly".
No, really:
The first two episodes are directed by James Burrows, who directed 32 episodes in the 1990s. Born in 1940, he is described by Russo as “the greatest half-hour TV comedy director in the history of the medium”.
Literally the next sentence...
Just as tellingly, the third episode is director by Kelly Park, a woman of colour. There are two woman of colour as main characters in the new cast.
Director A directed 32 eps of the original show and is considered the best TV sitcom director of all time. Just as tellingly, Director B was born with different genitals and melanin levels than Director A.
Last time I watched a sitcom was ironically the one with Tim Allen in it (since I watched reruns of Home Improvement so much as a kid). Before that , does IT Crowd count as sitcom as remember seeing that before this one.
I liked Frasier even when I was young but the quality of writers has gone WAY down since then that I'd doubt they'd match the spoken humour.
Last Man Standing might have been the last traditional sitcom we'll ever get on network TV, I can't remember if it ended before or after they fired Roseanne from her own show.
Shit, Frasier couldn’t even get away with the Frasier episode about the misunderstanding about someone being gay. Twitter would be outraged over “my sexuality is not your joke” even though the jokes in that episode were hilarious.
I love Cheers and loved Frasier even more. I know Kelsey Grammar is a conservative so I want to support him but I feel that they will do the typical things when they reboot
Best case it'll be the dress where if you're conservative it'll look like Frasier is mocking liberals, but to liberals it'll look like Frasier is the fool and they'll learn nothing from it.
Frasier is a weird show when you're from Seattle. There's an episode where they get stuck in a coffee shop because of the rain, which makes no sense to a true Seattleite. We don't even count it as rain until it hits 4-5. There's an episode of him taking the monorail, which is a five minute ride, and no where near upscale apartments. Basically the complaint is it's what a bunch of San Francisco people think Seattle is like.
On the other hand, it's about home and does try to get details right. It was nice to just be mentioned when so many shows are about LA, San Fran, or New York.
I've always wanted a show where Frasier is the grandfather who gives life wisdom to kids. He'll tell stories you recognize from previous shows, but otherwise it's a show about the family dynamics at the house.
Modern Frasier in Seattle plots would revolve around (eg.) wanting to eat at some trendy new restaurant but every time they try there's some crazy homeless guy screaming at a lamp-post in front of the entrance and banging on it with a bike lock*, everyone is too scared of the guy to go inside, and the police refuse to deal with him.
The episode ends with the restaurant going out of business due to a lack of customers.
* A scene I witnessed once near the Convention Center.
There's an office building near there, and I worked at several conventions. It's actually fun to see what convention is happening by how people are dressed near the CC.
Back in the day you honestly didn't know what the social status was for anyone you walked by. We had so many tech rich and grunge, hipster, emo were an actual thing.
It's been a while, but most of the pretentiousness seens deliberate, since two of the main characters ARE pretentious. Their dad's just some regular guy, and he's regularly shown being more sensible than them.
It is now. Amazon Warrior princesses invaded with bright cored hair flaring. Before that the insane lefties stayed in the area for the University of Washington.
A friend of mine told me to check out Xena: Warrior Princess.
Having not seen it when it was new, but did know it was quite popular in its time, I was stunned to read that it was once considered the most popular television show in the ENTIRE WORLD.
I wonder how it holds up.
And hey, sister series of the show that gave us Kevin Sorbo. Can't be all bad.
That's what the show is supposed to be on paper, but in reality it mostly appealed to pretentious pseudo-intellectuals. Finally, they had a show of their own.
I really hate modern day tv critics. Would they bring up his political views if he was a staunch leftist? Reminds me of writers for gaming magazines and sites that discuss everything but the show/game
The introduction should be Fraiser dealing with the passing of Martin. The Chair being a Centerpiece of the episode. He has a lunch with Niles and ends up discussing launching another broadcast career, as a Podcaster. They have a back and forth and ends with Fraiser not committing but giving it a think.
One issue Russo wouldn’t drawn on is Grammer’s politics, which have disappointed some the actor’s more Left-leaning fans. A staunch Republican, Grammer has spoken out against abortion, cast doubt on climate change, voted for Donald Trump and even spoke of his admiration for Vladimir Putin (“He is so comfortably who he is”). When I bring this up a Paramount publicist swiftly intercedes to pronounce the topic off-limits.
When has a far-left (Grammer isn't even far right) actor's politics been declared "off-limits"?
Hilariously, Frasier was part of the reason so many people moved to the Seattle area. Which helped kill King County and turn WA state into the shit hole it is.
I have detected that Coastal Elites have some other kind of sense of humor. That's ok. We (coastal elites and I) don't have to understand each other. I'm not dumb, though. Humor is very culturally specific. We wouldn't understand Japanese TV, for instance, even if it were translated.
I hope to god it's JUST that and it's not a Bruce Willis situation where he's doing this work before he can't because of medical issues..
For Burrows, they give us a paragraph about how the guy has like 50 years worth of directing experience on some of the biggest sitcoms of all time.
For the Women of Color directors, they give us a sentence about how they're women of color.
Even when they're hyping up "diversity", they can't help but show how hollow it is.
Even better, they precede comparing their non-white vaginas to experience & success with "Just as tellingly".

Irony thy name
Nominative determinism is real, and strong, and my friend.
British IT crowd was awesome. I know you couldn’t do that that trans joke with the guy punching him when he learns she is really a dude
Shit, Frasier couldn’t even get away with the Frasier episode about the misunderstanding about someone being gay. Twitter would be outraged over “my sexuality is not your joke” even though the jokes in that episode were hilarious.
The scene in question if anyone fancies a laugh
Goes from your normal gay relationships to your typical lesbian relationship REAL QUICK.
I love Cheers and loved Frasier even more. I know Kelsey Grammar is a conservative so I want to support him but I feel that they will do the typical things when they reboot

Welp that's dead on arrival.

Wait, which one? My office used to be near there.
WA State. This was a few years back: I was attending a trade show there, ducked out for lunch, and witnessed the spectacle.
SPD did stop and talk to the guy, but I didn't stick around to see if they actually did anything.
There's an office building near there, and I worked at several conventions. It's actually fun to see what convention is happening by how people are dressed near the CC.
Back in the day you honestly didn't know what the social status was for anyone you walked by. We had so many tech rich and grunge, hipster, emo were an actual thing.
It's always been a horribly pretentious show for pseudo-intellectuals.
Snooze-fest designed to rob you of your life.
And Seattle is a hive for left-progressives. A true Seattelite probably has blue hair. ;)

Yeah, Amazon is an insult to Xena
There was a hard lefty push that Xena was a lesbian during the original run.
Disagree. The whole point is to ridicule snobs.
That's what the show is supposed to be on paper, but in reality it mostly appealed to pretentious pseudo-intellectuals. Finally, they had a show of their own.
Except Sitcoms are always low-tier television.
I really hate modern day tv critics. Would they bring up his political views if he was a staunch leftist? Reminds me of writers for gaming magazines and sites that discuss everything but the show/game
I’ve always wondered about Mike Judge because KOTH is a love letter to Texas culture and the jokes never seemed to be mocking traditional culture.
Am Texan, can confirm it was hugely popular here when it was airing. Still revered.
I’m a Texan as well. I can definitely concur. I keep random episodes saved on my DVR at all times. Although I plan to buy the complete DVDs
How Frasier isn't a black trans woman?
"Remember when Seattle wasn't complete shit. TOO BAD, time to make you believe nothing got worse!"
The introduction should be Fraiser dealing with the passing of Martin. The Chair being a Centerpiece of the episode. Frasier and Cheers were good shows. If you have the time
Watch Frasier with subtitles on unless you are already at a Frasier Crane level of culture.
Fr I learned a lot of French and a lot of authors/musicians' names because of that show.
That is the problem I always had with it. I get the jokes, but they're boring Jewish jokes. I like poop and fart jokes.
