No. Even if we weren't drowning in a death culture where all media is propaganda made by people who hate me and want me dead, there's a simple truth that things need to fucking end. Better to go out on a high note than to be dragged on as a rotting carcass. Simpsons hasn't ended, it's been crap for over 20 years, and it's nowadays seen as a tired and unfunny relic. Futurama didn't sink to its levels, but it will if it keeps on going. There was a notable downgrade in quality in the post-Fox episodes.
But if it coming back, then I demand Phil LaMarr be given the boot and Hermes be voiced by an actual Jamaican. He thinks white people shouldn't voice black people, so it's only fair, right?
My expectations are currently in a suicide booth set to "slow and painful". If, by some miracle, they don't fuck everything up and I hear reports that the show is halfway decent, I will let them out. But I've already paid the quarter.
Futurama’s first run was a high point for comedy television. The four “movies” had their moments, but something was off. The return to television was actually mostly bad with some good moments. I fully expect the next season to be god awful.
Also, the dog episode is maybe the worst thing that ever happened to animated television comedy.
Saw the first episode trending on torrents so checked it out... Not good.
The original writing room was mostly phd/masters in hard science. This first episode was written by a bachelors econ and another best known for She-Hulk. The humor in this one is almost entirely slapstick or callbacks; these writers just aren't smart enough to write a smart show.
S11E07: Rage Against The Vaccine
S11E08: Zapp Gets Cancelled
Considering the vaccine one is written by She-Hulk diversity hire and the cancel culture one written by the econ major diversity hire you can just forget about the wishful thinking that these episodes will be mocking the orthodoxy.
I can recall two shows with the distinction of having been cancelled twice (Star Trek and seaQuest) and still coming back, as a rule, the third time around was always the worst by far.
The third season (seaQuest 2032) was absolutely terrible. The actors wanted out of their contracts and it only made it 13 episodes before being shut down.
No. Only just vaguely heard it was coming back again. I didn't like the previous comeback season with a Garden Of Eden and Eye Phone episodes. It went from being a sort-of-parody of classic idealized scifi into I'm not sure what, maybe another Family Guy knockoff.
Years of complaining about zombie simpsons, the fans then cheer as the infection spreads to newer hosts. Fox announced before the rat bought them that they intend to run Bob's burgers into the ground...suddenly, as sad as venture bros ending makes me, I'm also relieved. I'm glad at least theres some creators out there with a shred of integrity.
I had no idea that Futurama was supposed to be getting brought back, but that's an easy skip for me. Not everything needs to get dragged out forever. In fact the only thing shows like Family Guy or the Simpsons need now is to be dragged out back behind the shed and put down. This whole idea of a movie series needing a new movie every few years or a tv showing needing infinite seasons is retarded and it needs to stop.
I was still a teenager when it first came out so my opinion is probably a bit biased, but it's one of my favorite shows of all time. Maybe even my favorite.
I'm sure if I went back and rewatched it all I'd find plenty of moments embarrassingly dated, but it has so many great moments I don't think even removing my nostalgia glasses can hurt it too much.
There's barely any world building to speak of after the first few episodes, save for a fairly cool moment much later on. You just have to treat it like any other animated sitcom where the status quo is God and the point is simply to be funny.
The 2000s should remain in the 2000s. They were good. They were the last good cultural moment. Leave them be.
Looks at the mass sexualization of teens that led to current day
Are you sure about that?
It’s one I had to find myself after being a victim of that system. We were raised that sex was no big deal, despite the reality being far different
I do agree there. Last era before the invasion began in full force

Not surprised he said that. I agree though. He needs to stick to his principles if he is so bothered
I know you're being facetious, but the idea of a lefoid having principles is more far fetched than finding bigfoot hunting unicorns in Atlantis.
You gave me a nice visual. Lol

Well put

Jurassic Bark? I heard it was originally going to be about Fry's mother.

Say no more. That alone is enough to show what kind are running this show if they hired one of the clowns responsible for that mess.
Yea, it’s like the same writers write for every show. You could make so many great commentaries on todays world
I can recall two shows with the distinction of having been cancelled twice (Star Trek and seaQuest) and still coming back, as a rule, the third time around was always the worst by far.
Sea quest came back? Wow, didn’t know that. I’ve been meaning to binge seaquest
The third season (seaQuest 2032) was absolutely terrible. The actors wanted out of their contracts and it only made it 13 episodes before being shut down.
That's the season where they said 'fuck this NERD ocean science shit, we need 'xplosions!!' Wasnt it? Hard to say why it went bad...
Wasn't the former Captain now one of those crazy activists?

So every episode will be leftist talking point followed by lol so random plus endless references
"SPACE TRUMP CAUSED GLOBAL WARM IS LITERAL BRANNIGAN, GIRL-BENDER! HASHTAG NO CAP"

Probably not, but I've been meaning to watch the old series. I've seen a few episodes and I like it, but I've never seen the whole series.

Definitely rewatch the one where they go to the Amazonian planet
I was really impressed by the first few episodes. The first few story-arcs had a good direction that really worked well with the world buildging.
After that I enjoyed several episodes but quality dropped with disjuncted plot. It still had very good punch comedic moments though.
The damn pet dog arc made me cry like a baby.
Stopped watching it a while ago when I moved without a TV and never bothered to check streaming for Futurama.

I downloaded it - will watch later with What we Do in the Shadows
