Even Reps who voted for impeaching Trump are now defending him (archive.is)

It's pretty ridiculous. Indictment for hush money paid to a whore? Really?

Obviously, the hush money is not the issue. They want to get him on ANYTHING they can find, and the fact that this is the best they've got speaks volumes to just how clean Trump obviously is.

He is likely the cleanest President in decades.

"He's the first former US president to ever be charged with a crime, which obviously means he's the MOST CORRUPT person to ever exist!" - Liberal logic

Yeah, the whore filed a lawsuit in 2018, because I guess $130k wasn't enough for her to keep her mouth shut about who her clients were.

It's ridiculous to indict him over this. It would be ridiculous to indict anyone over paying a whore to be quiet, frankly. Who the hell gives a shit?

He was a luxury landlord in New York City in the 1970s and 1980s and they have absolutely nothing on him that isn't low IQ communist shrieking and babbling.

Eh even in his replies he's crying about 'other more serious cases' so it sounds like he's just mad that "his" case against Trump didn't get pursued instead of this one.

These people just live to get their names pushed forwards, they don't care how. They see this as a chance to push so they push.

The silver lining in this is that now the courts are being pushed to the forefront, so Trump has an excuse to 'revamp' the court systems which they desperately need.

Obviously, not those who are so far gone as Cheney and Kinzinger, but I didn't expect this from Peter Meijer at all.

Peter Meijer is doing this for his own political gain. He is clearly not as dumb as the Cheneys or Kinzingers of the party.

Meijer is very young and it is obvious that he wants to run again as a Michigan House Rep or even take a shot at running for Senator in Michigan.

A competent national party needs a wide tent.

There should be a place for Meijer in that tent as long as he doesn't go full Cheney.

Meijer even endorsed Gibbs who beat him in the primary last year. He can at least act as a team player unlike Cheney.

I personally am not against Meijer running again in Michigan and winning some other political office.

Peter Meijer is doing this for his own political gain.

Does a politician do anything for any other reason? (ok, except monetary gain)

Sometimes they do things solely because they are pressured to by certain groups such as the WEF.

This will be controversial, because people here think that the WEF is somehow controlling the world, but the WEF has absolutely no ability to 'pressure' anyone. It lacks any mechanism for it. It is just a hub of bad ideas and a place where very bad people come together, like the UN. Domestic lobbies, NGOs, multinationals are far more pernicious in that.

And even when they are pressured, they are acting in their own interests. Because those pressuring will harm their interests if they don't obey.

That's looking at it in the most technical, strict definitions possible just to say "no they don't!" They don't need to directly apply any pressure from themselves, the people involved in it are applying that pressure and the WEF (or UN or the other vague groups like it) is just them getting into uniform conformity to all apply for similar goals.

Its the same as when they said "well Antifa isn't a real organized group, its just an idea so it can't have done anything you blame it for" when everyone with a brain could see that even if that was true, they are still coming into formation to apply intimidation in the same ways regardless of specific puppetmasters telling them to.

I think you are generally right. What I dislike about Peter Meijer is not that he impeached a president of his own party for no reason under media pressure, but that he was acting against the promises he made to his own constituents. You can't promise to go to Washington to support Trump and then vote to impeach him over nothing.

They're reflecting on their own sins and malfeasance and they know this opens Pandora's box of hellfire. They're terrified.

Shame the RNC is so co-opted and corrupt. They're just going to soil themselves and hide under the bed.

Wouldn't it be too risky politically, to not do so?

Because they know, deep down, that this genie can never be put back in the bottle and one day it will come for them.
