I would 100% agree with you on rings of power. It's touching the unsullied, now us Tolkien fans now also have to think about the non canon BS in our franchise. I also happen to enjoy old star wars and the same mindset now has to apply to LOTR, I fucking hate it.
The three first Peter Jackson movies are fantastic, and a clear recommendation for everyone. You should definitely watch those. There are a few clear differences, like Arwen being the one to rescue Frodo on Wintertop instead of Glorfindel, and Tom Bombadil and the Scouring of the Shire being cut out entirely, but it's still definitely a clear homage to the books and extremely well-made movies.
For the Hobbit movies, I wouldn't recommend watching them in the traditional way. Look up on your favourite search provider for "The Hobbit The Tolkien Edit", and grab one of those fan-made movies. Basically someone put all three movies into one and cut out all the content that's not actually in the book. Overall, that makes a far better movie than what we actually got, with about 10 hours of screentime cut to 4h30. That one would be worth a watch.
For everything Ring of Power related, don't even bother. Instead, I'd recommend reading The Silmarillion, if you haven't already.
Well, that could be one of them. Multiple different versions were made. I never really looked into all the differences between them, so I can't advise on which one is best. What I can say is that "The Hobbit - The Tolkien Edit" was the first one of them. Or at least, the first one I heard of, less than a year after the third movie came out.
My favorite movie adaptions of anything, I think. When I reread the books, scenes from the movies play in my head and interweave with my own visualizations and daydreams.
My TV/movie watching has dropped so much since 2015.
I used to just watch every damn thing that was anywhere near action/fantasy/scifi. Now I only even look for it if either someone like Critical Drinker gives it the OK or wokies complain about it.
I have only ever watched something western made if someone took me along for the ride and I can safely say you did not miss anything. I recently watched that dragon age series, it was so boring, also here's gay people, oh these are also all gay..yeah, no thanks. I could only stomach a couple episodes.
It was OK in that Rogue One was OK. They still had to slip in lesbos and "ttadituonal values bad" propaganda but not quite enough to make me turn it off.
I never cared about Willow to begin with but I watched Disparu's reviews of it. It's so bad I almost want to watch it. So much of it is ridiculous that it can pass for an absurd comedy.
I was just about to mention it. Resident Evil was just bad, it made so little sense and it had nothing to do with the games, other then name recognition.
The only reason people have forgotten is that we never got a good Resident Evil movie.
There are a few resident evil animated movies that are ok but no movie was great.

Edit: corrected a name.
Minor correction - it's Arwen in the movies that rescues Frodo, not Eowyn.
Christ, right. Guess I was tired yesterday. Thanks for that.
Maple Films - JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit: A Fanedit by Dustin Lee?

My favourite I think is called the book edit, it fixes a few problems maple left in, in particular some contradicting dialogue.

In your Witcher notes, don't forget the absolute shitfest that is Blood Origin.
But apparently it's still "book and Cavill fans' fault."
Based book and Cavill fans
Terms accepted if it means I get to claim credit for that shitshow failing.
Not even the fucking critics can bring themselves to recommend it.

For me these days, if it's not anime, then it's either classics or wholesome competition with traditional skill sets (Forged in Fire, Iron Chef).

Glad I'm not the only one. How many are there out in the wilds like us?
Doon't Knoo!
Naww, it'll be foine!
I watched Andor on his recommendation and somewhat enjoyed it. Reminded me a bit of the atmosphere of Fallen Order.
I was shocked to hear he liked it, but somehow I still don't care. I guess I can't be bothered to get invested in this world anymore...
It was OK in that Rogue One was OK. They still had to slip in lesbos and "ttadituonal values bad" propaganda but not quite enough to make me turn it off.
My tolerance for that kind of shit has grown very thin lately, now I'm sure I won't enjoy it. Thanks for the heads up.
Dishonorable mentions that refuse to watch:
Willow: was never into it but saw how it caused Shadiversity rant about an entire episode due to a useless wagon
She hulk and everything else marvel has made this year
Any sequels this year not Maverick, Anime or foriegn made.

Honestly, you could just run down the Wiki list of Netflix | Amazon | Disney productions for 2022 and take your pick...
Not that there's a lot of point. It's all the same programme, just with different faces.
Resident evil.. with black wesker, buncha teens and a line about zootopia porn.
