Just saw this, and while I don't believe a lot of what Alex Jones has said, the fact that he was subject to the travesty that is the judgement against him, and now this incredibly gracious, and realpolitik response.... Hats off.

Good for Alex. Unfortunately Elon doubled-down on the ban. He owns it now.

Edit: Tripled-down now! Free-speech absolutism at it's finest. :)

Elon just wrote a death sentence for Twitter. The left seeing this knows they can bully him into a corner now. The stupidest thing you can do is give them any avenue to harass and deplatform.

Did you and u/Assassin47 even listen to what Alex Jones said in this video?

I did. I've followed infowars for a long time but I don't agree with AJ. Everything he said is speculation and being a good sport. Nothing others haven't written already. Everyone is rationalizing Musk's behavior because they WANT to believe him.

He could have said nothing, but he chose to be vague first and then double-down. Maybe his hand was forced by the NWO/bigtech/advertisers, or maybe he really thinks AJ is a monster. Either way he clearly doesn't need or want us to defend him on this. If he ever gets control of his own platform maybe he'll undo it maybe not but he owns the ban.

Musk, much like Trump is someone I temporarily root for, because they are anti-establishment.

I have no illusions that neither of them truly care about the little people.

Atleast TIL that Alex Jones, has principles. Again, not saying I agree or believe everything out of him, but I can respect the man.

I find it amusing how so many feel the need to qualify their positive comments on Jones with this sort of disclaimer.

The problem is like on his biggest mainstream opportunity post ban he spent like 3 hours on Rogan talking about inter dimensional vampires and Chinese chimeras. If you’re cool you know he was right on the chimeras and can brush off the vampires, but that’s a tall ask for the average person

Because believing everything that an online talking voice says is very healthy.

Also wanted to make the point that I had always dismissed him, but now....

Alex Jones is 100% right in that Elon needs to first get 100% control of the platform from potential saboteurs, be that from left wing ideology or even governmental saboteurs and then to focus on free speech.

The fact 90% of staff may have gone and he needed to lock them out of the system shows how much rot there was, we have alternate platforms to hear people like Alex Jones for now so we aren't reliant on Elon to do everything for us (same way we failed in regards to Trump) and maybe after more control is gained we might be able to intertwine the alternatives with Twitter similar to YouTube and patreon.

It's not just that, Jones is absolutely radioactive right now. If Musk brings him back to twitter then it will be Musk sued for 10 billion dollars next. And he will actually be able to pay.

This was a logical response by Alex.

Alex Jones is a nutjob with many nutty theories. However I think they aren't afraid of him for what he gets wrong but rather what he gets right, such as the Oklahoma retaliation explosive attack. The best part about Alex Jones is Owen Shroyer and National File.

Twitter is likely to be attacked and certain to continue to be threatened. Despite my hope for a moderate improvement of the situation on Twitter, I think it is best to not rely on it and to do now what we should have done years ago:

  1. Build up alternative communications platforms
  2. Bring others away from main-stream social media (MSSM) to there

The Twitter alternative most free by design is
ActivityPub federated microblogging

Alex Jones is the man!

I wouldn't be surprised if Musk and Jones talked this out privately beforehand. Always entertaining, Jones is frequently right despite his tendency to develop some of his paranoid assumptions a bit too far.

Okay... hold on... wait...

Watching a face-rig animated 3-D chinese dragon, voiced by Alex Jones using a fake asian accent, pretending to be a member of the communist party, telling viewers not to watch InfoWars, as an ad on an InfoWars video... was something I was absolutely not prepared for.

Do you have the video? I want to see that, unless this video has dynamic adds on it. Since I did not see that.

It seems to come up randomly, but I found a random leftist crying about this on a stream. It's fucking crazy, and hilarious. Just ignore the leftist's input, of course.

I assume the dragon's name is Ching Chong Ling Long at this point.

I assume u/DomitiusOfMassilia means this. It is dynamic but I kept refreshing and used developer tools magic to capture it.

Interesting that Jones uses Rogan moving to Spotify as an example of creators leaving Big Tech to seek free speech platforms when Spotify essentially began curating Rogan's guest list to be fair to "both sides" after the Nigger compilation hit job and the crime of platforming someone as milquetoast as Robert Malone.
