Legend of the Galactic Heroes is a good binge.
I watched up to episode 82.
watch Die Neue These instead. Much better graphics since it's not 30 years old and has good production values, and it's up to episode 44.
All the ships in this series have always been ugly as hell.
This series isn't like (old) Star Wars where a lot of effort went into individual ship classes. They're all just boxes with holes.
Watch the original LOTGH if you're pro empire. Watch the remake LOTGH if you're pro republic.
If it's the same story in the remake, why?
the original LOTGH came with full episodes on why the empire rose to power , whereas the remake skipped over huge chunks of that. In general there's just a more sympathetic slant for the empire in the original whereas there is a more sympathetic slant for the republic in the remake. LOTGH is a story that "tries" to be neutral but the director always has a bias for one side or the other
Definitely consider it my main source of non-gaming related entertainment at the moment. And I will fess up that I do have some weebish tendencies. But the hardcore weebs who do all of the cringy bullshit and scream about how much they would rather be in Japan while screaming broken Japanese? They need to shut the fuck up.
I’m lower on the scale so please forgive my ignorance. What is a web exactly?
Weeb is the one that would be at the top of the bell curve there.
Like I said in my original post: They are effectively the Anime equivalent to the Gamer stereotype.
They are the kinds who are always mixing Japanese in with their English. They obsess over Japan even if its ignoring stuff that is historically wrong (they are the kind who argue that the Katana is some sort of super-sword when in reality it is inferior to most European swords from the same time period...and both are inferior to polearms). In extreme cases, they are the kind that go around with the hentai jackets on. And they are usually fat with titanic amounts of BO.
But much like with gamers, they are actually a smaller portion of the fandom than you would think since most Anime fans are just normal people. They are just the loudest and most obnoxious, so they are the ones who get made fun of.
weeb is short for weaboo, an internet term for people obsessed with all things Japanese
Thanks!
It's alright. I like books too. What do you think of live action movies?
Live action movies are good. I also enjoy cooked food.
I'm a comic book and Manga reader. Comics/anime does not translate well to movies. The story picture book is always better than the adaption.
I love Sword Art Online, Robotech, Fist of the North Star, Death Note, Trigun, and others. I’m loving discovering great Anime from decades past as well. Also gotta mention Voltron.
I like anime/manga.
I have been an anime fan for decades.
I seen over 300+ anime series.
The trick to never get bored of anime is if you switch it up and watch different genres from time to time instead of focusing on only one genre.
I have watched and enjoyed series in all of the following genres;
shonen, seinen, psychological, adventure, slice of life, isekai, comedy, sports, scifi, horror, romance and even harem anime.
Used to enjoy it when I was a teenager, a lot of the tropes have become stale to me, and the female voice actors are often grating. I read manga a bit more often, usually sports related cause I'm pretty tired of fanservice.
I haven't watched a whole lot of recent stuff. I can't say for sure whether I'm still into it.
My preferences lie within the traditionally done older stuff. Like Dirty Pair, Gunsmith Cats, Dominion Tank Police, Appleseed. And several others from around that era. I just appreciate the quality of the art as well as the era it was made in. It just speaks to an old fart like myself.
I used to like to collect it too, but I realized that at the time, VHS tapes only had an episode or two or three, or a single OAV, which meant I'd need shelves devoted to just one series. Like Ranma 1/2 has several seasons and several OAVs. I only have so much space, so I had to stop.
The problem with anime, like everything else, the more popular it gets, the more crap gets produced that is very samey and very middle of the road.
I've forgotten more series than most of you have probably watched.
There's a lot of good stuff out there and a lot of filler.
I approve of it.
Japan is a country.
Still looking for a series that tops the visceral satisfaction of the first few eps of Goblin Slayer. Claymore was recommended and was fun but not nearly as well crafted.
Made in Abyss season 1 + Dawn movie are also good because it has quite possibly the best world building ever. But unfortunately Season 2, which had its moments, wasn't nearly as good and diluted some of the emotional significance of season 1.
The comedies don't work for me though.

Why the bell curve? How is it that someone who's seen 100 is less cringing than someone who's seen 40?
Thats the joke.
"Fetch the flamer, brother. The HEAVY flamer!"
jk, jk - you have to say that when someone talks anime. It's the law...

That's off the top of my head and skimming some "top anime" lists, I probably forgot a bunch of stuff but that should be almost all the biggest ones. And this leaves out the huge franchises like One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Black Clover, Boku no Hero, etc.
You know how I know you're a faggot?
Don't care for any of the anime being made these days. It's all CG, and there seems to be something in the water at all the anime studios because their CG animation SUCKS FUCKING BALLS. The facial expressions, if there are any, are robotic, the movements are stiff, and the retards deliberately sabotage the frame rate in an effort to make the animation look 2D, but the only thing the end product ever ends up looking like is a cheap video game chugging away on 15-year-old hardware. It. Does. Not. Fucking. WORK. If you want CG animation to look good, you gotta do what Pixar figured out almost 30 goddamn years ago. You canNOT imitate 2D with it, so stop fucking trying. What studios have been making for nearly the past decade is unwatchable for me. Which is generally more of a manga guy, which is usually better anyway, since most anime shows are just adaptations. Too bad most manga these days are isekai and shonen fighting manga, both of which I detest, and slice-of-life. There just aren't any decent fantasy or sci-fi anymore. Kentaro Miura's death really struck a blow to me; it feels like he was the last of a dying breed. And now he's gone too. :(
So in either case, I largely just stick with older or more niche stuff.
About what. Not liking live action movies?
If I'm not reading or watching the latest thing It's because I've read 100,000 pages and watched 100,000 hrs already. I get the tropes and stories. I'm Giga-Chad on the Far right of the meme BTW.
