Gundam is a huge franchise with many good finished anime series that came out years before this specific series.
Sad to see that the latest Gundam iteration is wokeshit but I still have so many good finished Gundam series to watch.
I have yet to watch Gundam so I’m happy to get into the old stuff
I haven't seen that one yet but I heard it was depressing and supposed to be really good.
I still need to finish Gundam 79 so I can see other series in the UC timeline.
I have heard good things about both 0080 and 08 MS team.
Looking forward to eventually getting to them.
I haven't watched 0080, but 8th MS team is IMO the most realistic take on what actual mecha combat would look like in real life. I highly recommend it.

Good news is we all have so many good completed Gundam series to watch then any one person likely has time for.
My personal favorites:
G Gundam is a very fun to watch action oriented standalone series.
Gundam Wing is an dated yet still good serious standalone series.
Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans is a good depressing standalone series.
The main Gundam series is called the Universal Century Timeline and it also has so many good series.
I recently saw the first chronological entry in the UC timeline called Mobile Suit The Origin and it was an excellent series which focused on various political themes such as the horrors of war, experimental technology, manufactured consent fostering the rise of authoritarianism

I can't miss an opportunity to recommend watching G Gundam.
The show has the most outlandish meme mobile suit designs from Tequila Gundam with a sombrero to Nether Gundam with windmills on its chest.
You even get to see a horse piloting a mobile suit!
All the other series I recommended are much more serious and very worthy of checking out but G Gundam has a special place in my heart for being the first Gundam series I ever watched.
It's probably a common source of influencing a latex fetish, the moment the co-lead woman has to fight in a Gundam herself.
I wouldn't be surprised lol.
The animators knew what they were doing with that Rain Mikamura scene.
Not even the only piece of major fetish fuel involving her, but with newbies in here, it's best I don't spoil the other one.

Follow all these recommendations, and once you've seen a good chunk of them, watch Build Fighters and Build Divers. Extremely fun "battle simulation game" setting, but requires a decent amount of knowledge of the franchise to understand when they're making a very specific franchise joke.
So I watched the prologue and episode 1, and you might be able to claim Yuri bait (the white haired girl claims it's common but the MC is basically going 'but I'm straight') but this may just turn out to be exactly like Lycoris Recoil last season (tried to push Yuri, turns out no they're straight)
From the old school Gundam guys (I only watched Mobile Suit Gundam 00 recently) they've done yuri before so who knows. It might go the guy she was trying to run from gets some character development and they end up together in the end (happened in 00, plus he's on the anime billboard) I'll have to withhold judgement for a few more episodes as the fight scenes at least look great. Plus it's the good old "outcasts versus a major power" set up I always enjoy.
I really enjoyed Lycoris Recall. It had great action scenes, likeable characters and great voice actors.
Chisato and Takina were never in a yuri relationship even if some fans wanted them to be.
I haven't seen this new Gundam series but I have doubts that it will turn out to be as good as Lycoris Recall but who knows.
If the show actually turns out to be good by the end, I will check it out.
If by episode 6 there isn't a sign of yuri and turns out it was pushed by western media again, I'll make a post saying "Leftists tried to apply message to Gundam, failed miserably" so you know it's worth watching lol.

Iron-Blooded Orphans already had a canon gay male character in 2016, so I wouldn’t say this is a new phenomenon. There was even official art of one of the gundams in rainbow flag colors.
