I'd love to see the reaction when you give some chick in Milan or Rome a cow.
The real question is: what do they taste like?
Those "exotic" breeds tend to taste more gamey than domestic breeds. A friend of mine raised highland cows and they tasted more like venison than beef.
Diet is also a big factor, grass fed tastes different than grain fed.
I can see the reasoning.
Flowers will quickly die.
A cow is a tangible asset that can continue to provide goods (milk, beef) for the receiver.
And getting a good cow shows you either a - have money and connections, or b - are good at animal husbandry and can produce a good cow on your own.
