Don Lemon gets schooled on reparations (nitter.net)
posted 3 years ago by Galean 3 years ago by Galean +44 / -0
Allie Beth Stuckey (@conservmillen)
Ok this is amazing. Don Lemon brings up the need for slave reparations from the royal family. His guest says, yes, people should be demanding reparations… from the African leaders who sold them into slavery.

The idea that the British men that died to abolish slavery need reparation from the black kingdoms that fought for slavery is both correct and hilarious.

The black kingdoms like that of DA WIMMIN KANG?

The Dahomey were one of the most important contributors to the trans-Atlantic slave trade and literally founded their entire economy & culture on slavery, to boot. They tried to diversify said economy to exploit the palm oil trade under British pressure, but gave up because that didn't make them nearly as much money as the slave trade did. The guy played by John Boyega in The Woman King, Ghezo, literally gained power in a coup supported by a Brazilian slave trader, Francisco Felix de Sousa, who he rewarded by putting him in charge of a major Dahomey port. And the slaves they could neither sell nor use to work on their own plantations, they butchered in yearly human sacrifice rituals.

Oh, and they started BOTH of the wars with France which led to their kingdom's destruction by launching slaving raids on French protectorates (rival tribes that had basically become French vassals, precisely for protection from this sort of bullshit). Twice, in the span of two years. Really, West African countries should be sending the French yearly gift baskets for liberating them from the Dahomey's baleful presence.

I've seen people try to defend The Woman King by going 'whatabout Braveheart or The Patriot or 300' but 1) on top of being more entertaining, none of those other movies tried to pretend to be historically accurate or to have a relevant sociopolitical message and 2) 300 in particular is an in-universe case of 'unreliable narrator' (it's a story being told by David Wenham's character to hype up his fellow Spartans before the Battle of Plataea).

As well, The Woman King is on a whole other level as far as its historical negationism (I don't think 'inaccuracy' or 'revisionism' are strong enough words for what Viola Davis & company are trying to get away with here) compared to those other flicks goes. It's like a movie starring the SS as heroes who were attacked by the French and fought to free Alsatian Germans from French death camps, or the Soviets as heroes who had to fight the Winter War in self-defense after the baby-eating Finns shot first - oh wait, the latter is literally the Soviet account of what started the Winter War.

Hold up. John Boyega is in this trash heap too? Man, now I have to wonder what sort of narrative setting input he's been making online towards this.

I mean, we already have the lead saying "if you don't support (this movie glorifying a kingdom of slavers), you don't support black women having starring roles." Come on, bring on the tone deaf hypocrisy!

Thanks. I'm going to start telling people the "Woman King tribe" were Nazis.

Good. More people need to hear this. Thomas Sowell has a good summary of world slavery in Black Rednecks. I stopped trying to debate these points though because so many youth in the west have convinced themselves that they are the biggest victims of world slavery. Any reparations paid would only result in them whining for more. If they ever asked I’d love to help devise an accurate unit about slavery for schools.

More people need to hear this.

They really do.

It's utterly shocking that even in England, children are allowed to grow up thinking their nation is responsible for the slave trade, when in reality it's the total opposite - their nation is responsible for ending the slave trade.

Exactly. I get that since we live in western countries we will learn more about western slavery but it should be taught the full scope of slavery. Pretty much every country is guilty

No way.

The mere fact that you attach any importance to 'accuracy' disqualifies you as it does Sowell.

Speaking of Sowell, it still annoys me that Kendi is treated like some great thinker and a lot of young ppl have no idea who Sowell is

A prophet has respect outside his own town.

Obviously, the regime is going to promote people who say what the regime likes, and not someone who methodically dismantles its pieties.

In black communities there are big arguments from much older black men who lived under Jim Crow, having to tell modern middle class black men and women that yes: things were better under segregation because that's how completely fucked up you are.

They remember black communities having strong moral, social, and religious ties; and also watched as the welfare state did more damage to the black family unit than slavery ever even could.

Good.

Fucking Good.

I'm tired of this fact of history getting zero mention because it doesn't fit the left's narrative.

That's the fucking truth that more people need in the front of their minds. I am so, so fucking sick 'White Anglo-Saxon Protestant man bad, apologize for slavery!' when it is the military imposition of English values upon the earth BY FORCE, that is the sole reason slavery is considered evil that it is. The whole world accepted slavery up until the point that an English custom was imposed on it through violence.

That naval blockade was in place for nearly 70 years - three, four generations of Royal Navy seamen.

I don't to listen to any fuckwit talk about the British Empire owe reparations. Especially not a multi-millionaire mulatto yankee.

I don't know if they are "legal" but Libya had open air slave markets very quickly after Hillary droned Ghaddafi.

  • Distill rum in woods outside of town because you're not allowed to do it in the protestant colonies.
  • Buy ships and sail for Africa with your rum.
  • Get sub-60 iq tribal kangs addicted to alcohol
  • "No more rum if you stop giving us slaves"
  • Stack blacks, floor to ceiling, in the ship and sail them across the Atlantic back to the colonies.
  • Most of the cargo dies in transport
  • Get to the New World where the slave trade is largely illegal, and most cities won't allow slave markets
  • "Fellow Whites, buy our slaves even though the Pope has called slavery evil."
  • Nobody buys them.
  • End up selling 97% of your slaves to your cousins who comprise 2% of the population in the New World.
  • Finance both sides of a war over slavery that ends up killing half a million Whites.
  • Fund 160 years of rioting and "civil rights" actions.
  • 160 years later: "Fellow Whites, you owe these poor black people money because of slavery. You should feel guilty for how evil your ancestors were."

What kind of people would behave this way?

Demanding reparations for the families of the sailors who died extirpating slavery was absolutely brilliant. It left the regime propagandist with nothing to say, so he said that "it's an interesting debate" instead.

Remember when Lemon asked a black pastor to denounce Trump, and when he refused, the chyron changed from "Trump meets with African-American faith leaders" to "Controversial pastor speaks out"?

I'll be honest, this sounds close to what we did during the Anglo-Zanzibar War which also holds the record for the shortest war in history of only 38-45 minutes

We charged them for the shells we used....then we freed all their slaves too.

If anyone needs to pay for reparations, it needs to be Portugal, not Britain, not France, and not the US.

Let's see if Portugal gives a shit.

Anyways I thought he was demoted to doing a morning cooking show. Why is he still doing interviews and LARPing as a real journalist?
