Reading the New York Post article, I was going to say that at least the child had been breastfed, meaning the couple weren't so stupid as to try to wean him off animal products at birth... but they'd already had one child taken away from them when living in Virginia in a previous malnutrition case. So yeah, it's pretty easy to prove this is depraved indifference and not run-of-the-mill negligence when the courts have already punished them once for starving their children.
The breastmilk of True Believer Vegan mothers is severely deficient in essential nutrients to such extent it will cripple the baby ( likely permanently ).
Vitamin B12 severe deficiency causes permanent nerve damage. The severe form is found almost exclusively in Vegans.
Nowadays, no large Vegan org claims their diet can provide all essential nutrients and they tell their fellow cultists to take supplements.
They have a whole mythology as to explain-away why they need supplements. Stories about ''depleated soils'', ''overwashed produce'' and claims that ''cows are given Vitamin B12 supplements anyway, skip the cow and take them directly yourself''.
Except cows are not given vitamin B12 supplements. They are given cobalt supplements and make their own vit. B12 from it. Humans cannot do that with cobalt. Humans get their Vit B12 from meat.

These kinds of parents should not have any right to reproduction. Rule one as a parent: Kids health comes first regardless of what your lifestyle choices are.
If your vegetarian but need the kind of nutrition best provided by meat and dairy, you give it to them. If you can't even attempt that your kid should be adopted by some Christian family with 8 kids or even give them to the Armish, they'd raise them better than your pathetic excuse at life.
