Depends on the level but for national govt of a federated republic its main ones is preventing foreign invasion and being a final arbiter in disputes between states.
Then you can argue that it should issue a national currency to facilitate international trade and commerce between states. Arguably to create and enforce IP laws nationwide, again as a means to encourage commerce between states.
Yes, the entire point of a government is to act as a representative voice for the population on issues that affect a populace. However, as we've seen, we currently have a bunch of 'kings and queens' who believe it's their place to tell the 'unwashed peasants' what to do. A completely inverse.
A decade ago I thought Russia was being silly for making it illegal to propagandize homosexuality to kids. ( Contrary to what Proglodytes claim, homosexuality itself isn't illegal in Russia. )
Now I consider we must do that with LGBTBBQ+M/P propaganda to kids, because that ideology is cancer rotting the brain on children. A large minority of which now believe they are not their actual sex and are set on a path of chemical castration then mutilation surgeries.
And the ''experts'' do everything they care to eliminte any dissenting psychiatrists by claiming that helping a child accept their biological sex is ''conversion therapy to make trans kids cis puting their lives at risk''. ( Groomers litterally instruct kids to use threats of suicide to get approval for cross-sex hormones and surgeries faster. )
Fun fact: public libraries are generally pozzed. Bunch of leftists work in them, the American Library Association is woke af, same song and dance as in academia.
Course, libraries as a whole are getting that way too. Academic, private, legal, you name it.
Friend of mind's in the field and one thing I learned is apparently job apps for librarians in the bigger entities and cities are requiring "diversity, equity, and inclusion" statements. Basically how you've been and plan to go about improving your workplace's DiVeRsItY and how you've done such in prior work.
I've always been about access to information but with the way things are going I can't say I'd miss public libraries very much.
Ain't that the truth. From the outside in things are pretty non-political at the law library he's at but man even then you have to put on a bit of an act from time to time. The field's really changed over the past decade in that regard.
Leftoids only have themselves to blame. They banked so heavily on the idea that their opposition wouldn't bother with civic issues. Well, now the sleeping giant has finally awoken and the leftoids only have themselves for waking the beast.
Groomer: changes library
Sapiens: changes library budget
Groomer: BUT WHY WOULD YOU USE A LIBRARY TO FIGHT YOUR BATTLES AAAAAA
It’s literally “cries out in pain as he strikes you”.
Promoting faggotry is not a legitimate function of government.
Shut up, faggot.
Is there a legitimate function of government?
Asking for
a friendmyself.Yes, border enforcement and anti-groomer gestapo

Ideally stopping people from killing each other and stopping people from other countries from entering.
Honestly, it checks out for a library to act like they are god's gift to knowledge and think themselves deserving of more money for nothing.
More towns in general would be better off taking an eye to controlling library (or "REC center") budgets.

the russians knew whatsup. they saw the gay shit taking root in usa 5-10 years ago.
Depending on how much you believe Bezmenov, they might've planned it, let alone saw it.
It was probably pushed by "Western" NGO types.
They went through a Bolshevik revolution.
They have first hand experience with weaponized faggotry. And like an immune system making antibodies for a virus, they prepared accordingly.

Good on the people of this town for fighting back

Story of another town that resisted.

Based as fuck.

I've spent a lot of my life in libraries, including over a decade working in them. The current state of the ALA and the library schools is shameful.

Libraries are kinda useless anyway though with the advent of the internet as well as the ability to just have any books you want shipped to you.
The only use for libraries now is honestly try before you buy.
We live in an age where everyone - even most of the homeless at this point - has the biggest library in human history sitting in their pocket.
Shitlibs thought people wouldn't defund a largely obsolete institution over poisoning their kids' minds?

The sleeping giant hasnt fully awoken yet. Its still groggy, but its quite irritated at the rodent nibbling its toes.
Close down public schools next.
