Not one of my usual rants, this time. I just…
It still amazes me how toxic Reddit is. Sure, it’s anonymous, but so is this place, and yet we manage to largely keep it civil, most of the time…
Even in small subs (geographical in particular, but also sports), though, Reddit is just… Fucking vile. Utter hostility on all sides.
And yet, it is still one of the most popular sites on the internet, especially amongst the demographic I “belong to” (white, male, under 30)…
How very fucking sad that is.
Yeah, that’s all I wanted to say.
Glad we got “off” that shithole, even if I stupidly still keep going back to that awful, awful site/place.
Maybe I won’t, after the last couple of weeks.
It’s honestly just extra-shit, anonymous Facebook, now, with the demographics and woke virtue signalling of Twitter and all the simping of Tumblr (and Twitter, of course)…
:-(
This makes me terribly sad, as someone living in a place that lost its only equivalent “pop culture” store (mostly games, but comics and books, too), a few years ago, while I was away…
Oddly enough, the exact, mirror equivalent of what you mention in the nearest city also burned down, a few years ago. Though that was most likely insurance fraud and inadequate fire protection by the neighboring department store, which then burned down half the block of century-old buildings…
Anyway, I posted recently in the local sub that I missed that place, and the pubs we lost to (property) development corruption, and the various other venues that have been… Removed from public access (turned into shitty apartments, international student housing or luxury “private hotels” that you can’t even walk into, etc.).
The local sub treated me like I was absolute trash. Like, not just an idiot, or just “wrong”, but some Uber-conservative backward “NIMBY” standing in the way of “inevitable progress”, “a fairer society” and “what people (i.e. Reddit) akshually want”… Even though some of them admitted they didn’t even live here, or had only moved here recently.
Oh, and then they banned me. For “offensive language”, after I called out some of the commenters for vested interests (they were exposed as working for the University).
So… I feel that, and I really, really get it (even if the context isn’t quite the same), lol… Sadly.
Not as vitriolic of a topic, but I really noticed it with Net Neutrality. Because I actually knew what it was, I knew it was a stupid law to let law enforcement (further) through the door. But it didn't matter, because NN was the latest Thing™. Where once people were against shit like SOPA and PIPA, now they were shilling for government oversight.
It's only made me feel more vindicated since it got repealed and then literally none of the fearmongering the left went on about came to pass. It really does show how manufactured so much of this has become, and it makes me wary of any common internet belief, from "Epstein Didn't Kill Himself" (which I do think was organic even with the doubt), to the sudden and rather overnight flip into hating cryptocurrency (I believe this is manufactured).
The worst part about it is how demoralising it is, and knowing that it's meant to be demoralising only makes it hit harder too.
I doubt the majority were even fans. I've seen pay ops on random forums in the 00's. I was about to correct it to psy, but that is also accurate. If Driver 3 can be outlawed off the internet, then the entire pay op network can do a lot.
Can you explain your last sentence a bit more..?
Genuinely curious…

This is the best outline. If you look at the pattern used for Driver 3, you can see the same for many other things. This was Sony paying to control the internet with fake admins and forum posts.
Few months ago I was banned for the first time on polish sub because I mocked how r*dditors treated summer of love like saints and people who peacefully protested in Canada like the scum of the earth. Reason for ban? "Comment in bad taste". For few days I kept asking mod team where it is written that 'bad taste' is forbidden, but one mod constantly changed the reason for my ban (at least 3 times in 2 days) and finally muted me from messaging when I said that I will sent screenshots to the rest of the mods that he only banned me because he couldn't stand that people were agreeing with me.
Later that month I noticed that a lot of people I liked writing with were suddenly gone. I realized that the same mod was permabanning people left and right for not agreeing with him or his views, so I decided to use ceddit and make a lot of print screens of people getting banned for anti-covid propaganda (surprise, surprise- not one comment was about anything covid related, he just banned people over the stupidest things and later boasted in the comments that he got rid of another anti-vaxxer) and created a thread showing that mod was abusing his powers.
Everyone got permabanned- me on 2 accounts (of course for being an anti-vaxxer), people who commented in that thread, people asking mods about previously banned people, users sending other screenshots with mods banning people over nothing.
I have RES installed and I checked that sub few days ago- every person who had positive upvotes from me is now gone. Fucking mod team turned our sub into another cesspool of yes-men and NPCs
I was permabanned from the Reddit KiA2 after amassing like 3 or 4 years of postings and being consistent in my favorably received opinions.
I don't even remember the BS reason. Insulting leftists and praising the right and Libertarianism, I suppose.
Problem is Win/Scored works the same way as reddit and will be crappy once it gets big enough. Same volunteer moderators that push sane ideas under 50% until groupthink takes over, same scoring system, same hiding deep comments, soon will hide downvoted comments no doubt. Only a matter of time until up/down votes are merged into a single number...
Ideal system would have subscription moderation where you sign on to trust a bunch of moderators, but can revoke each one individually and the comments they removed are visible to you. Like content blocking where you have EasyList for ads, malware url list, cookie popup list, social media list, etc. You'd sign up for moderation to block the Imp, or the flat earthers on Patriots, or the JDF trolls, or whatever annoys you. If you don't agree with Rule 16 then don't subscribe to it.
And custom ranking so you can boost sane people so they're always at the top regardless of score, rank however you like such as no downvotes or downvotes are 1/2 an upvote, hide anything with no upvotes, or whatever.
Got banned a while ago for some pretty direct suggestions aimed at a retarded leftist and their (hopefully short) future, still lurk but god damn. Even the horror sub had a thread about "roe related movies" that was filled with the typical wailing, just with an incredibly thin veil of "look, this is discussing horror guys, so it belongs!"
Niche subs in particular are where it's extra bad. A small circle of interest makes them easy to subvert with progressive entryism.
Reddit is totally gone, forget it. You're more likely to (occasionally) see sanity on massive subs swamped with normies, if the prevailing mood trends away from clown world and towards the common sense norm, while the mods struggle to keep up with purging the wrongthink. Smaller subs? Consider those seats all full of reeking tranny posterior. I mentioned a similar process recently while commenting about metal subreddits.
Niche subs is also where if you get lucky the mod MIGHT, just MIGHT be a based one, though. It's a crapshoot though.
Welcome to 8 years ago, my friend.
There are VERY VERY VERY few subs where the jannies aren't giant faggots. Ironically for me, it's the r/Elonmusk sub, and r/4chan. That's about it. I don't know how the 4chan sub hasn't been gassed because I basically see 4chan tier posts in there and nobody gets deleted (except for those who get shot by the automod janny).
Avoid the big subs, and if you're in a niche sub, assume your mods are left wing cucks.
I really think that at least 50% of the users on the political and local subs are Chinese "internet navy" trolls. Twitter too.
Or outright chatbots programmed to parrot the narrative.
We keep it civil here mostly because we’re sick of constantly being dog piled on for having a normal stance on certain issues. I haven’t been on Reddit now for a few years but every time I pop over or it’s linked here I can just see how more deranged it has gotten.
It’s not even good for shitposting anymore, all the memes are too scared to offend anyone so they forgo having any comedic substance. I just hope that those people in that demographic realise there’s better ways to spend your time.
Many of the views expressed on this forum don't lend themselves to 'virtue signaling'. The leftist-style views are almost pure virtue signaling, which gets...tiresome.
Even Jester, who used to fight the good fight against holofrost deniers never went full [Greta voice] people are dying.
It’s not really that popular, it’s just full of bots.
Reddit is an opinion generation machine. It is totally worthless. Don't waste your time.
Tom Cruise for reddit president
Bizarrely, reddit competes with mainstream media for being the place that most openly hates that demographic as well. It's a very self-hating place.
Over time I quickly learned that jannies are just the scum of the internet.
If you're some average normal person and you want to ensure that completely irrelevant shit is removed from time to time, yeah sure, great idea, no worries with me there.
But when you work a 'full time jannie internet job...For free!', something is wrong with you.
Redditors don't understand that if the rulers above them aren't unpaid jannies, they're even worse...PAID jannies. Paid by globalist retards and pedos.
I posted in r/SuperSexual just to see what happened and got autobanned from a reasonable amount of popular subs unless I wrote an apology and promised not to do it again.
If that's not organised fascism then I don't know what is.
Its organised bolshevism.
In organised fascism, you would simply not be allowed to waste your time consuming foreign propaganda.
I still visit a sub for gun owners in my state because eit has the most up to date news and gossip on what's happening in the legislature. Every time the Dems try and push another gun grabber law, sane people will post "this is what you get when you vote for these people".
They are instantly downvoted by fools who are deluding themselves that they're not voting for the very politicians who are trying to destroy their hobby.
That and any opinion, no matter how innocuous (that gun isn't priced well, store X has the best deals in town, etc.) always gets downvoted without any reply that would give you insight as to why.
Reddit is not as popular as you think it is. Only terminally online people use it, and it's rife with bots.
The moment they quarantined TD I never looked back.
Reddit is so obviously overrun with shills and bots it wouldnt surprise me.
The untrained beasts that bite?
Oh, yeah, I already did that with Twitter (semi-accidentally. I lost my account, there, and never made another one), and then Facebook.
If I can quit Facebook cold turkey (I was horrendously attached to that place), and Instagram, except the occasional logged-out public “lurk”, and also Tinder, which is the one I wasted the most time on (and the reason I had kept the other two active, for ages), for… More than a year, now (18 months for Tinder), then I should be able to do Reddit, too, lol…
And probably here, too, eventually.
I just need to properly focus that same energy and time elsewhere (because it just went Tinder >> Facebook >> Text >> Reddit >> Here), but I’ll get there, I hope!
Self-improvement is my big thing, so… It’s not that I don’t want to do this. I’m just… Someone who struggles with motivation and “willpower” at the best of times, and right now… This very much ain’t the best of times, by any stretch, in my own life, lol…
