No college kids really are this stupid. A recent grad at work told me that researchers have gotten to a temperature lower than absolute zero, and that after you go below absolute zero you loop back around to the highest temperature possible.
By "award," he likely means he got some token scholarship that knocks off a couple hundred or thousand bucks off his tuition to some university, and is making it sound bigger and more prestigious than it really is to prop himself up. When the only reason he got it in the first place was because 1). he's black, 2). the issuer is pushing a racial (and sexual) agenda, and 3). the college is either required by law to give a certain number of these things out every year, or does so for tax reasons, and neither recognizes nor cares about academic achievement.
I know affirmative action is fucked up but I just can't believe this guy won an award. There must be some merit based among affirmative action recipients.
