I think a lot of think tanks have been behind a lot of the leftists movements in the west. This is why the left seem so stupid and hypocritical.

In the end it does not matter when they control all the institutions.

I picture them as the cabinet members in Idiocracy.

The moon is a white elephant with no resources other than rock.

It takes just as much fuel to get to the moon as it does to get to Mars, as Mars has an atmosphere that can be used to slow down and the Moon does not. That same atmosphere on Mars can be used to make fuel, while EVERYTHING on the moon has to be shipped there. The only advantage of the Moon is travel time, only 3 days for the Moon and 3 months for Mars.

If comspace takes off the moon will be a tourist destination at best. Unless H3 is found in large quantities and actually becomes a useful resource on Earth, but there's no signs of that happening. Mars is where people will be actually living and working.

Then in the far future, space colonies. But not until the Universal Century.

Titanium is present in notable quantities on the moon, alongside a pretty decent amount of other resources. I wouldn't say its devoid of resources.

That said, if we do start seeing more significant space development, I do think the moon might end up being used as a staging point for rockets being sent towards mars or other locations.

if im not mistaken also the moon rock er regolith can also be mixed with urea to make a cheap building material like concrete no clue if its airtight or not... i wonder how hard it would be to terraform mars they have been engineering plants for it but i have no clue how they will do in the real enviroment

Titanium is available in large quantities terrestrially. The reason titanium is expensive is refining.

The moon would make a great orbital drydock because of its lack of atmosphere. It would be a lot easier to launch from it.

I've ready there are rare earth elements there.

Rare earth elements are not rare. They are everywhere, it just takes a lot of energy to refine them, and it generates a lot of waste and slag. Any on the Moon will only be useful on the Moon.

This might be easier said than done, though. The Outer Space Treaty, drawn up at the United Nations in 1967, currently bans countries and individuals from owning property in space.

But they are still keen on the idea.

"This is a violation of international law, but we should do it anyway."

It will be done as soon as someone can practically live beyond Earth. And 'practically' does not mean have to 'comfortably' in the slightest. Someone WILL put themselves through great hardship to crown themselves Emperor of Mars or something, and who's going to stop them?

'International law?' Secession from Earth-government will happen.

It should be like the wild west. Get there, fence it off. Defend it; put in a railgun or whatever. Then it's yours.

Retards with degrees and no useful, marketable skills or value as human beings become economists.
