If anything I'm a centrist who has drifted right due to the warnings of past communist societies. There's a number of their utopian dreams that aren't inherently bad, they are just not capable of working on a large diverse society like we have in most places. If you want the happy feely part of communism to succeed, then the society they support must be small and homogenized. The Amish practice a lot of these things for example. So, the way I see it, the ones that are left in the middle today are the ones that cannot or haven't yet come to the realization that the noble dreams of utopia they have are impossible to be made into reality.
The time for reconciliation is over. The left and authoritarian elements of the Canadian and US governments have pushed us too hard too soon and the forces of reaction are gathering.
Which side will you be on? This is the most important question at the moment.
But I don't really see the benefit in needing to choose small mustache over big mustache in the rights answer to the leftist purity test.
Bad in the opposite direction is still bad. Not saying I don't get it or am morally or ethically against it, I just don't think it's going to be the galvanizing force certain boards think it will
In other words...if you wanted to see right wing progressives. We got em.
I see myself more as an American Liberal, rather than a Classical or British Liberal.
I don't give a fuck about what the Leftists want, they can eat shit and die. That does not mean I'm going to just accept Race Socialism or Syndicalism because it's """"far right""", nor am I going to accept Islamic Theocracy, Catholic Pedastry, or Monarchism because some idiot thinks the Hapsburgs were based and totally not literally globalist multiculturalists by definition.
i mean if you fight for my right to say racist shit and then fight for the left's right to proclaim their love for little boy anus then you're just gonna get fought from and lose on both sides aren't you
Eh, hard to really comment on the OP itself since this is in a vacuum
Would I call myself a "classical liberal?" I certainly did two, three, four years ago. Libertarian before that. I don't know what I would call myself now, but then again, I've never really been a fan of labels. FWIW, the political compass test—for all of its many issues with its questions—showed me in the right-libertarian quadrant when I took it a few months back.
In a vacuum I'm all for people's right to speak, associate, I am strongly against censorship, all that. Sadly, that doesn't really get you very far when you're in reality and you have people trying to use the weaknesses inherent in those viewpoints to tear down the very civilization that created such ideals. The ideas and ideology those people have are a virus to our civilization and I think that ideology needs to be curbed and stamped out.
But, that's not very classical liberal of me is it? "I'm all for people saying whatever they want, but not that."
Where I think the self-described classical liberals falter is they'll even be for the right of those people to spread their toxic ideology. Hypocritical isn't it? I think it looks so on its face, and normally I'd say it is hypocritical. That "normally" would be when everyone subscribes to the same philosophical framework that people should be able to say what they want, that we all have inalienable rights that are inherent in us from the day we are born to the day we die, all of that. When everyone is "playing by the same rules."
The ideologues we come up against completely disagree with that. They would force the classical liberal to play by their own rules but as soon as those ideologues attain power over the classical liberal they'll toss those rules out and impose their own. That was never a problem for the ideologue because they were never actually playing by the classical liberal's rules to begin with.
If the ideologue never agreed to those rules in the first place then why should we hold ourselves to those rules when playing against those particular players? That's where I think any claims of hypocrisy or what have you fall flat. We are up against people who would not give us the same courtesy and who would gleefully see us dead and gone and are arguably actively working toward that end.
The political compass test put me dead-center in the middle. But if I talk to anybody about my political opinions today they'd call me a far-right extremist.
I had to restablish my views, because since 2016, anyone who was not super far left was treated like a terrist. the left acts like fuckin fundie mus these days. moderate dems, independents, conservatives, and alt right all get treated the same by them.
If you mean the one r/PCM uses, the people who made it had severe left-wing bias, so the test places anyone who fills out the questionnaire like a normal person and not an edgelord on the left.
I'll support a centrist that is against affirmative action and other handouts, for blacks being punished for committing crime (and whites not punished for defending themselves against blacks), and against trannies/faggots in school or anywhere else.
Those are my major issues. If a centrist is on my side there I'm willing to compromise in other areas to get those done.
We can't have everything we want and if we constantly purity test everyone we will quickly find we are alone in the room with our pure selves, isolated and ineffective.
The two fronts are not left and right, they're up and down. Auth and lib. Advocation of bannings and prohibitions is auth, whether you're right wing, left wing, or centrist.
Likely because they’ve forgotten the mostly peaceful communist mantra:
“Liberals get the bullet too.”
But I’m sure they’ll be fine. They only meant the nazi liberals, I’m sure.
Trying to appease the far left is pointless. Saying you are classically liberal will get you called a Nazi

In the event of complete societal breakdown, evil totalitarians who do not wish to kill me are preferable to evil totalitarians who do.

I'm more anti left than anything.

I might disagree with the consume .win but I’ll fight for their right to say racist shit.
In my eyes they are the white version of the playa haters ball.
i mean if you fight for my right to say racist shit and then fight for the left's right to proclaim their love for little boy anus then you're just gonna get fought from and lose on both sides aren't you
I think the difference is that consume doesn’t lynch anybody and the left is still fucking kids.
Unless you’re trying to say you lynch people, then you should probably be in jail. Better then dead as the kiddie diddlers deserve.
So go ahead and say your Heil Hitlers and Adolf Fathers before bed and keep spouting your bullshit.
this is one of the many reasons im against censorship. it never ends well.
its ironic that the people most likely to get censored by msm are pushing for more censorship, though. and limits the anticonsoomer movement by a lot.

If enough people call you a nazi then that makes you one, simple as. Kind of like being a woman.
Are you going to burn this straw man after you're done flogging it?
Those in the center will only find themselves in a war on two fronts…

Did you forget immigration? Or does reducing welfare cover that?
Immigration is probably my number 4. But reform of handouts, including removing emergency room treatments for border jumpers would help a lot.
I dont see a practical way forward for removing birthright citizenship.
In any case there have to be priorities or nothing can get accomplished.

Exactly this! The dominate problem now isn't leftism per se, its authoritarianism
Centrists will support pedophiles in about a year.
