Japan is pretty hardcore about what it does enforce. Many places in the US don't enforce much of anything.

When I was in Japan I realized that they actually read the fine print on things. Over here in the US the fine print is just a wall of legal mumbo-jumbo so the company can dodge any legal liability. Over there, the fine print I encountered was actually important and readable... and they expected you to actually read it and follow it.

Also, it seems like most of their societal norms are enforced by the society itself through social pressure like shame and ostracization, not legal measures.

Make no mistake, they have their own problems, but there was something liberating about being in a country where the first recourse for every disagreement wasn't to sue them or take them to small claims court.

Funny cause the only time I ever was sued was from a Japanese guy on a student visa.

I hate to say it, but if you live in LA, DC or NYC (or pretty much anywhere in Massachusetts), I think that may well have been the case for some time…

Sadly.

They do. But they're not mandated. It's a cultural choice. Fine by me. If you feel the need to wear a mask, go for it! But don't demand everyone does for your illusion of safety

Considering they used to do so for decades now which makes sense based on the population density I have zero issues with it. Why do I need to wear a fucking mask outside in the countryside though?

Same reason Muslim women need to wear burqas. To show obedience to the cult

by my understanding, it is a cultural norm to wear a mask if you feel ill, like if you have a common cold but you need to do some shopping. They do not assume everyone is sick until proven otherwise like they do now in the West.

They wear masks when they're sick, probably because so many people have bad pollen allergies.

They probably have bad allergies because they wear masks all the time. A lot of them have dust allergies too... incidentally the culture demands a very dust-free house and no shoes tracking dirt inside.

Women will also wear masks to hide blemishes when they don't feel like wearing makeup.

Yes, they're a mask culture since they're the 1st people hit by anything that comes out of Chicom land. Commies LOVE going there for vacations and shopping then littering, letting their kids shit in sewer grates, being rude ass dick bags and then going home and claiming China is better.

Yeah, it's not politicized, so people just wear them when they want to or feel they should.

If they choose to it’s not a big deal. It’s forcing those who don’t want to where there is an issue.

To be fair, Japan was also forcibly removing children from parents who tested positive, and isolating them separately… Even babies.

So… Japan is not that great, re coofity coof coof. Just because of this ONE thing, I wouldn’t be using them as your “gold standard”…

Even Poland and Russia are less cruel…

Yes, Japan is better than Australia or Canada, or even the UK now. But that’s really not saying anything at all. We’re fucked. The whole West is fucked. But that’s not new. Coof just accelerated it…

Korea and japan is probably the least evil and most stable of the developed world. Although.. hope they rdy to defend themselves since our military is ran by woke people and will at best abandon japan or korea in time of need or at worse will force a cultural enrichment onto them.

I disagree. On both “evil” and “stable”…

Having been to Korea, I… Would much rather live in Eastern Europe. Or even parts of Mexico, rn…Japan, though, might be ok…

But it sure as hell ain’t some “free” paradise, fren. Near-highest suicide rates in the world, particularly for men, doesn’t come from nowhere…

Loneliness there is quite literally epidemic…

Though they ARE both ethnically homogenous, which helps with the “stability” thing, I’ll give you that…

But so is Iceland. And I think I would honestly rather live in Iceland, personally… Arguably, anyway!

The suicide rate and loneliness are cultural issues that would likely not effect you as a Western Man moving there.
