This wouldn't even protect us against what Reddit did -
Reddit used parallel construction to ban 50% of reddit - 'this subreddit has threats against the police'
(one comment had 1 threat)
Meanwhile admins deliberately ignored ACTUAL terroristic threats and detailed threats against the police on bad_cop_no_donut all day long hitting the front page.
The high inflation and impending fed actions are going to rape tech stocks. That will bring them back to reality, or help a bit. They won’t be as able to use their cultish hiring strats either.
That's a bad analogy because disparate impact theory. If you don't hire any blacks, the secondary constitution for minorities kicks in and you'll be punished even if no black people ever applied.
He's a fake conservative/rightwing he doesn't actually want to do anything about these problems half of tge users on this site are like this except for thedonald for some reason
It's a nice thought, but ultimately unenforceable, honestly. Unless it happened at a Federal level it's probably not going to do much.
It would also likely be difficult to prove in any court that they were banned for that reason — even though we know that's the case.
What needs to happen is full 230 reform. 230 was made during a time when social media barely existed and was mostly irrelevant where it did.
I'm not typically a fan of Government intervention — because they mess shit up at every opportunity — but at this point BigTech needs to be regulated in much the same way that Oil/Railroad needed to be during the industrial revolution. They're a true threat to the stability of the country through their inimical actions. They actively collaborate to destroy or make it nearly impossible for any new competitor to grow, and it's become a real problem.
Think about this: 10 years ago, how many more websites did people typically visit daily? How many new tech companies popped up left and right with cool new platforms? Now, all traffic is being funneled through a select group of tech overlords who have decided that they're the ultimate authority on what people can say, like, or participate in and what beliefs and views are allowed. They even openly defend people ruining the lives of others who don't conform to their standards, while silencing any who point it out, attempt the same, or push back. The internet was a thousand times better back then.
Of course, there's way more to the problem as well, and it has many layers, but they're most certainly a harmful entity that needs to be addressed. I don't think we'll be seeing any changes at all any time soon, though. Big Tech desperately wants to grow into new markets — and that's exactly why they push a very CCP agenda and cooperate with China to a concerning level.
The retard consumers on the left who are drooling and clapping along will eventually come to understand how their stupidity and insecurity has screwed them when they need to voice opposition about something in the future, and they no longer have the ability to do it.

Lol no they won't. Just look at how the TERF's reacted when their own tactics were used against them. Instead of realizing that they created an abusive system that was ultimately turned against them they're just outraged that they're not the abusers anymore. So instead of reflecting on the rotten system that made their purging possible and trying to prevent a repeat of it on their own platforms they just copied the rotten system and locked themselves into the abuser role. In the end they just created a Faggit clone that bans men from mod positions. At least they won't have to worry about tranny jannies.
That's not a large enough example of an issue that's critically important, though. It's something that only effects a niche group, so to them, it's just further validation of their fake "oppression." It's concomitant to vacuous retards such as themselves to exclusively focus on their victimhood. The fanatics will always be the most difficult to convince; however, I don't think they're necessarily representative of the average voter/consumer who's really just more ignorant than passionate — the type who ignores such things and simply let's the TV decide. I'm not sure if I'm making sense, though. I have a bit of a migraine right now. You're certainly not wrong about their approach, but I feel like there's other factors in play that contribute in that particular situation. But who knows? Time will tell. Maybe they'll forever be ignorant of what's plainly obvious to everyone else who's not an ideologically obsessed activist.
Any sane and rational person would think mandating people get injected with experimental gene therapy would be a wakeup call for all of the idiots blindly following along, but apparently, they'd prefer to continue hitting the snooze button instead of waking the hell up.
Looking back, and maybe this is just my experience, I feel like one instance or event of it happening isn't enough for it to make anyone change their mind, honestly. A simple one off can be justified by just about anyone. They could easily tell themselves any number of lies as an excuse for why they're being censored/silenced. I feel that repetition is a very key part to people realizing what's taking place, and it's also what made many of us see the way things really are today. There was no singular event that was able to open our eyes to the mendacious nature of the prevaricators pushing propaganda. It was a series of events by politically-driven polemicists and activists who would profligately screech about victimhood and fake oppression ad infinitum in an attempt to divide everyone, push their agenda, and satiate their greed by pushing traffic to their outlet/site/channel. No matter how people called out their lies, sophistry, and apocryphal trash, they would would remain obdurate and simply toss labels at the person to discredit and silence them. Since they began, we've even seen them remove every comment section from all of their websites in order to keep people from calling them out as they were.
At the very least, I believe it's a multifaceted problem with many different groups and subgroups that will be affected. I just hope that people continue to show others the reality of how these corrupt media/tech companies operate.
Cute, you actually think everyone needs a thesaurus as opposed to simply spending a large amount of time reading and having a broad lexicon.
Words exist to be used for the proper context. Literally none of the words I used are uncommon words when reading articles or books. If you took time, you'd probably notice I tend to use many of them quite commonly. Don't brag about being ignorant; it's silly. If something like that actually triggers you, it says vastly more about your own insecurities and need to vent your crippling depression on others.
While I don't expect this to actually get enforced, I wouldn't be at all shocked if Texas AG opens up some suits and makes them answer to it when they do. He's a bit of an asshole that isn't the type to shy away from it. It it stays at state level it might be an interesting case to follow nonetheless. I don't know all the rules about how it ends up in what court, but if it gets to the state supreme court, they aren't typically the traitor type.
If it goes federal, then well expect the expected--struck down with Clarence Thomas the only dissent.
You may be right when .win gets big enough, as their definition of social media platform is kind of vague - but it won't apply to startups and obscure sites.
(b) This chapter applies only to a social media platform
that functionally has more than 50 million active users in the
United States in a calendar month.
That's some quality information. Thank you, friend.

So gonna be about 3 months, at least.
It allows for an adjustment period after the law is signed. Pretty standard fare.
I know this is usual, but I'm still impatient. I wanna VPN to texas and troll twitter.
And youtube just blocked all Texas ISPs.
Joke's on them. My VPN is usually Spain.
This is why they put "violating community standards"
Sorry this has as much force as "can't discriminate against blacks for employment" when all you have to do is NOT say "we don't hire black people".
That's a bad analogy because disparate impact theory. If you don't hire any blacks, the secondary constitution for minorities kicks in and you'll be punished even if no black people ever applied.
cool and all but ultimately meaningless until the facebook and twitter execs are actually dragged into court and forced to defend their mod decisisons
"Ultimately meaningless" for a fat guy to go to the gym and buy healthy food, what a defeatist way of looking at things.
Just because he doesn't get fit in a single day doesn't mean taking steps in the right direction isn't worth cheering.
Fuck some people in here don't seem to understand this won't be 'fixed' in a single day, it takes lots of little steps like this.
Seconding.
Siege warfare. That means it's going to take a lot of constant resistance on every front possible to make progress.
Yes, everything counts, no matter how small it seems. Death by a thousand cuts.

We get it. You have a thesaurus

A step in the right direction is a good thing
hold on, moving to texas vpn server

I officially identify as a Texan.
We'll gladly accept ya, Brotatochip.
Good shit for reigning in the Giants.
Bad news for startups and obscure sites like .win. Shills will take .win to court when they get banned for spam.
You may be right when .win gets big enough, as their definition of social media platform is kind of vague - but it won't apply to startups and obscure sites.
missed that, good shit!
Sounds sensible to me.
And this site wouldn't need to exist in the first place if reddit didn't ban you for wrongthink.
How can they enforce that?
Consumer complaints to the AG office.
TX and FL are leading the way, leaving CA in the dust. I say this as a native Californian.
Texas is having another golden age.
Amazing. This is a ball that should've started rolling 4 years ago.
I wonder what reddit is going to do? They will probably just label everything hate speech.
how are they going to enforce this?
