But Hollywood got high on their own farts and thought that they knew better what people wanted. And now they are starting to lose their old as people take up new hobbies and medium. Because I assure you, it is absolutely no coincidence that Anime exploded in popularity around the same time that Hollywood started huffing a little too hard.
Hollywood truly despises America. Every jackass there wishes he was in France circa 1960. Those people would commit suicide if they spent two hours in a Wal Mart in rural America.
Here is another one that I saw one time and found interesting. All of the most popular actors in Hollywood? People like Ryan Reynolds, Chris Hemsworth, and Keanu Reeves? Either dont live in Hollywood, or dont socialize in Hollywood. I remember seeing an interview from Chris Hemsworth where he was talking about how he had originally planned on it. Then it turned out it was so toxic and unwelcoming that he moved back to Australia, and then he just flies to Hollywood for business before going home.
It shows you how the problem really is Hollywood, and the culture it has built up. And I will love to watch it all burn and see who takes their place.

I knew that link was going to be Wolf Warrior 2 before even clicking on it. it was one of China's highest grossing movies ( By the way, if you haven't seen Fatal Contact, that movie has some of the best fight scene choreography ever put to screen, and Wu Jing executes some of the cleanest kicks ever seen on film).
But yeah that movie was so on the nose it was ridiculous. There's literally a scene where all the allies that were supposed to be aiding helping refugees get out of a war-torn city pull out... except for China. And with various refugees and civilians stuck behind enemy lines, only China's special forces operative has the balls to save the civilians from the evil white mercenary Americans.
The movie gets even more ridiculous, as they make it that evil Africans aren't actually evil, they're just driven to evil acts due to "white supremacy" and "imperialist nations" like America (not even an exaggeration, this becomes a plot point in the second half of the film).
I think the funnier thing for me was that that movie unironically dictated Chinese foreign policy for a while. Until they stopped because every other country they were trying to bravado into submission just started laughing their heads off at the absolute cringe. Or at least, that is what I gathered from China Uncensored.

How tight of caps? Hollywood, ALL of Hollywood, is only allowed 10 movies into China per year. After that, they may still be released, but China will take a 100% cut of the revenue. Meaning it is very rapidly becoming a market where there will be VERY limited income, and that is before you get around to the fact that every movie "made for China" (Shang-Chi, Mulan, etc) has been a flop.
Another sign a change in direction might be coming? Disney's new CEO, Bob Chapek, has been notoriously critical about the long-term viability of China as a market (to the point that scuttlebutt behind the scenes is that he has basically written off the Shanghai Disneyland and thinks it will be repossessed by China in the not too distant future) and further rumor says that he is favoring India as a market, as it is more stable and more open to Disney. So much so that India is the only nation where Disney+ actually turns a profit instead of losing money. And with the amount of pull Disney has over the industry, that may lead to others following the leader.
And if you hate the woke stuff, that may be out the window with Chapek too. Because he gained a reputation at his previous job running the parks of not caring how popular or unpopular something was. It’s already starting to happen. Movies take a while to make so things can be far out at times but a lot of stuff in the pipeline’s toning it down. There’s still push to woke things but to an extent that won’t piss people off as much. Main lingering problem is that everyone is at least somewhat connected to at least one woke person, usually going woke in college, and when you pit people that don’t care so much against people that violently care, the crazies tend to have a disproportionate impact on the outcome.
Disney’s been doing okay somewhat with things like Loki. You can see the obvious intentions there in some ways but Loki was still pretty damn great. Has that changed recently? They already had a cap, but it was over 30 foreign movies per year - the Hollywood films that hit #1 in the Chinese box office alone exceeds the 10 movie cap you are talking about.
