Authoritarianism always starts like this, to fight against things nobody could publically say "no" to without exposing themself to attack as a person who supports child pornography, even if this is not true. The root of this problem is always the same: the pathologisation and exploitation of compassion, which is what the disease of Progressivism engenders in a society.

Their stated reason is good

The stated reason is always good. That is the point. When it comes to the erosion of rights, the excuse is one that you agree with, otherwise your rights couldn't be eroded so casually.

(Repost due to bad archive link.)

Regardless of their reasoning now, there's no way this doesn't eventually get used for going after political dissidents.

Pakistan will demand this is used for any content they decide is “blasphemous” -

Their penalty for child abuse is a fine.

Their penalty for blasphemy is being burned alive.

A whole new way to get revenge on your ex…. hide a picture on his iphone and wait until he gets arrested

Most cloud services — Dropbox, Google, and Microsoft to name a few — already scan user files for content that might violate their terms of service or be potentially illegal, like CSAM.

That's disturbing.

Basically, if you have ever accessed anything the far left doesn't like, that was hosted on a google drive, then don't be surprised if at some point in the next 20 years you're forced to confess your sin in a struggle session.

Yeah that's one of the reasons I deleted my Google accounts.

Not just scan but they delete things they deem wrongthink or "illegal" as well. People who had footage of the Christchurch incident stored in Google Drive had those files removed with no prior notice or notification after the fact.

Speaking of which, how do you find that video now? It's been scrubbed hard off the internet

I know a few places. I think linking to it would be against the rules. Does .win have a DM function yet?

It's disturbing on so many levels.

Like is this such a big problem that they have to run roughshod over everyone's digital rights? How many of those people can there possibly be out there?

Or is it a case of the upper echelons in these industries being so obsessed with this shit because it's all they think about that they feel the need to harvest it for their own personal gain. Like maybe they're collecting it or seeking out their fellow travelers and fellow perverts for recruitment/blackmail/actual prosecution.

Or maybe it's just a slippery slope where they get their foot in the door with "well you aren't with one of those people are ya buddy? otherwise why not let us do what we want and no one gets hurt. nothing to hide nothing to worry about etc" Then it's like others have mentioned. If you made a meme about vaccinations or you poked fun at Biden you just made their shit list. They just go after whatever they want and whomever they want for whatever reason they want.

You would think that there would be no child abusers left out there for all the privacy intrusions, back doors, and illegal domestic surveillance going on. They seem to have no problem finding anyone involved with Jan 6th.

I think they want it for two reasons: they want the functionality for their own purposes to use at a later date and to maintain their position of power by implementing this feature and then requiring anyone who provides a similar service do the same.

This is not about child porn, this is scanning of peoples phones to remove any and all dissent to the Biden administration.

Hunter's laptop allegedly has more homemade CP than some countries. But the Biden administration ignores it.

That Apple was built from the ground up as an apparatus to be turned against the American people.

Same as facebook and reddit and twitter.

Apple was built from the ground up as an apparatus to be turned against the American people.

If that was true they wouldn't have spent ten years jizzing themselves over NuBus when nobody was making shit for it. They wouldn't have stuck with the 68040 when everyone and their dog was preaching that CISC was dead. They wouldn't have spent half a decade developing Copland only to throw up their hands and say that Nukernel would never ship.

I could go on. Apple was fifteen years of fucking fail, they were a joke in the 90's. The only thing that saved their bacon was hiring Jobs back on so he could tell them that their os was shit, their collaboration with IBM on PPC was being squandered by their insistence on treating it as a premium offering alongside the 68k, and that USB was the next big thing and if they didn't enthusiastically jump on that boat first then they'd be dead in five years.

The only people who have nostalgia about Apple are artsy types who's anodyne use of the platform was limited to Adobe products and so never ran into the crippling underlying design flaws of the Mac OS System 7 kernel which continued to plague it up through OS 9.

DARPA Lifelog is more well known to me. Cancelled a month before Fuckerberg released Facebook? Has the same intent as the current Facebook features allow? I don't believe in coincidence anymore.

The worst part is that people that are politically connected can be scanned and flagged all day with no penalty whatsoever, but some false positive will send you to jail.

This is a shield for them to cover their asses as they are going to just wholesale steal your data. It's not your phone, it's a copy machine for their bank account.
