Disney World to require masks when sitting at tables to eat, and the comments on liberal WDWNT are having none of it. Normies are tiring of the rhetoric. (archive.is)

If it was really a dangerous pandemic, people would just naturally shun crowded places, and wouldn't be wanting to travel for fun, or risk sardining themselves.

It has been said that yes, there was an inflow into the cities during the height of the Black Plague, but that was because all the death opened up jobs that were too tempting to pass up, not because the hicks wanted to go nightclubbing in town.

Also, flow of information was SLOW in the black plague era. An outbreak's news would arrive long after someone began their travels, and at that point there is huge sunk costs. If you're going to the city for a job, you're already desperate, AND you just spent 6 days of travel expenses to get there? Yeah, you'll take your chances.

Top comment:

Absolutely ridiculous. The tables are already widely spaced and wait staff have both a mask and clear visor. This is getting extreme.

Employees having to wear both a mask and face shield is perfectly normal and acceptable, but guests having to wear a mask is "extreme". How about they're both extreme, and if you demand that someone else wear a mask but don't want to wear one yourself you're evil.

I can see where this is going: if you work a service industry job you'll never be able to breathe fresh air on the job again, because the Baizou will demand it. And eventually you'll be able to buy your way out of wearing one, which of course all the Baizou will. Thus furthering class division and resentment.

My state's (texas) looking at ending the mask mandate, not nearly soon enough. These people can go fuck themselves the moment that shit is signed

Unless the state prevents businesses from requiring them, don't expect things to be much different than they currently are. I spent some time in Idaho earlier in the year, and a lot of stores were "requiring" them even though the government wasn't.

Depends on where Idaho. Boise city and Ada County (containing Boise) have mask mandates that only the lefties in Boise enforce. Most of the state thinks they're fucking stupid.

If the pandemic is such a dangerous hazard that people can ONLY take their masks off to eat, maybe you should shut your park down, Disney.

Oh right, you can't bear to do that because you're hemorrhaging money and NEED to have it open to avoid falling too deep in the red and pissing off your investors. So you'll inconvenience both your employees and your customers as a token gesture of concern for everyone's health, offer an inferior service at your park, and still charge full price for the pleasure of it. Fuck off.

"It's super dangerous and lethal... But, you know, not SO lethal that we can't keep operating a THEME PARK."

Even the pro-mask "science" (actually just statistics) suggest that 21 days after a mask mandate the cases are only 2% lower than they would be without*. Since 21 days is a couple of transmissions it's safe to say that masks are only at best 1ish percent effective. I really don't understand people that thinks 99% danger is fine but 100% danger is unacceptable.

*and while it could be argued that this only measures the mandate which people may not follow, I'm in a very red area and compliance is near 100%.

Yeah. Masks add to depression, muscle weakness, body development issues, increased risk of stroke, heart attack, pneumonia.

All for a 1-2% decrease in transmisson in something not all that dangerous.

" not all that dangerous"

What about all the people that died?

What about them? They were old, weak and unhealthy. They would have died to anything.

Vending machines are not all that dangerous, and yet cause hundreds of deaths a year despite not being in nearly as much contact with people.

"Not all that dangerous" does not mean "perfectly 100% safe".

Especially now that you have to wear a mask and can be fined thousands of dollars and put on the no-fly list if you take it off.

Fortunately I like driving, so I'll just drive wherever I want to go. I even built a little bed/shelf for my car so I can just pull off into a rest stop to sleep.

This is the brand of rhetoric that’s becoming scary imo. They don’t intend to enforce this at all, they’re just declaring shit they don’t mean to try and control the narrative on social media. Just raw double speak.... Maaaaybe they’re reserving the right to kick out frat kids that are having too much fun for the optics of it.

They won't considering who owns the banks and investor capital. And even when the banks fail we know the government just bails them out. There's a reason that some companies can go over a decade without any actual profit as long as it has a monopoly position and can influence a lot of people.
