Prominent atheists and internet skeptics have been attacking Christianity and only Christianity for years, decades and centuries over the premise that people should not believe any "God", which in their case, only the Abrahamic God, building their careers in it, raking money as they go and gaining notoriety for solely attacking Christians. I don't care if some of them are dead, or bed ridden, they contributed to this mess.
Was it for "promoting" logic or reason? Was it really about teaching people to have an "open mind"? I now beg to differ. Seems like atheism have been a gateway into this global Marxist pandemic we're having, considering that Marxists have been for the burning of ancient scriptures, the destruction of holy landmarks that are related to Christianity.
I'd say it was less about targeting west in specific and more with the fact that other 2 Abrahamic religions would have you either declared Islamophobic or Anti-Semitic.
You have to ponder on why these pseudo-intellectual scums solely targets Christianity while letting other terroristic religions to go unchecked. It really shows what they are really intending.
What does the Christian atheist say? "There's no rational proof that compels me to believe in a personal God, so I don't"
What does the Muslim atheist say? "Allahu akbah!"
Gee maybe because they only lived in free countries and those countries predominant religious influence was Christianity. Have you already forgotten the mentally retarded shitshow of the satanic panic? Where a bunch of Christ fags convinced themselves there where satanist sacrificing babies everywhere and wanted to police and control expression to stop it.
Funny you should mention the Satanic panic. I've lost all faith in the mainstream narrative that it was entirely a load of bullshit since the FBI declassified its findings on the Finders cult and the existence of actual tunnels under the infamous McMartin preschool, just as claimed by the kids in that case.
Suffice to say, since 2015 or so I haven't exactly been inclined to take our betters in law enforcement & the press at their word about more and more things, and these revelations amounted to another huge nail in that particular coffin.
Yet most atheists' rarely ever attack anything outside of Christianity. Something about being beheaded or called a Nazi seems to put them off calling out Islam and Judaism openly.....Think Hitchens and Rushdie were the only big name with the balls to pick on Islam specifically at times.
Dawkins, Harris , and Hirsi Ali also were vocal in their specific criticisms of Islam.
Here's the thing you gotta understand:
The Enlightenment did not go as far in Anglosphere as it did in Frankosphere. The French tried the Cult of Reason, and afterwards came to terms with Catholicism. When they did eventually adopt state secularism (shortly before WW1) it was simply an acknowledgement that France had many religions due to its colonies, and that the state needed to divest itself from faith.
This did not happen in the English speaking world. The extremes of the Puritans were tested and rejected in the Commonwealth, but otherwise we haven't had the enlightenment showdown that France did.
France is able to see the poisonous impact of SJWs because they are introducing divides in society that, in France, were already ironed out. Academics in America for example don't understand that Michael Foucault was not mainstream in France. He was seen as a radical in France.
Just like the U.S, France is still ruled by globalists who want to import millions of Muslim refugees while discouraging any semblance of white collective identity.
France gave the U.S the works of Foucault and Derrida. It doesn't really matter if they think both are radical and not mainstream.
France has no leg to stand on in this matter.
They don't... but they do.
Yes, Foucault and Derrida were French. But when they were active, the French didn't listen to them, and now that their ideas are coming back to France, the French are still rejecting them.
If you're expecting France to recognize their role, you'll be waiting forever because they can reasonably say it was America's fault for listening to French people the French thought were crazy.
I am against wokeism but we should not let globalist banker Macron and cucked France preach down to us.
If France is saying what our leaders don't have the balls to...
Viva la France.
Don't forget that it is about to be an election year for Macron. He doesn't want to lose to a populist so he will say anything to prevent that outcome.
Well, the parts of France that are still France, right? Words don't mean much when you've enthusiastically turned your nation's capitol over to foreign invaders who hate you.
I think it's more that people could see the silliness of literal interpretations of religious texts. Without also understanding the evolutionary (yes, evolutionary) process around belief systems and the societies that are based on them, it's easy to accidentally throw out the baby with the bathwater when you didn't realize a baby was in there.
And I say that as someone who decided they didn't believe in the supernatural at around 6 or 7 years old as I discovered that all of the "magic" in life was just make believe and extended that idea to the Bible.
One of the biggest things I believe is what people define as "god" and when that definition ends up being very different from their experiences they then say "god isn't real" based on everything they learned.
Instead of defining god as something like "the total of all truth in the universe" they define it as "a single being that has power over everything" it doesn't help that there are many personifications of god to help people like rural peasants understand the concept.
The way I see it, there's two kinds of atheists:
Two sides of the same coin, so maybe there's only one kind of atheist.
Then you'd be wrong.
A genuine atheist needs to fucking deconvert and recognize moral foundations that he has to test and establish for himself.
I agree with this, and it was something I felt obligated to do when I stopped being religious. However it was also something I observed none of my friends who grew up in irreligious households did, and I remember many a time having the following conversation:
Friend: "religious people just follow whatever morality they grew up with"
Me: "did you derive your moral system from first principles?"
Friend: "well, no..."
Me: "is your moral system pretty much like your parents'?"
Friend "well, yeah..."
May I suggest you read The Brothers' Karamazov? There's public domain audiobooks around, even on youtube.
And they never actually investigate their own beliefs. Yeah. They aren't actually prepared to answer moral questions.
That's not how the No True Scotsman fallacy works.
These people aren't atheists because they never deconverted. If you're literally just angry at God, then you're not an atheist.
At least spiritually, there's no such thing as an atheist. There's only those who reject God.
That's still you asserting that God exists to reject, and that "spirituality" is also a thing.
It shall be asserted always.
I can't really do anything with that assertion beyond saying that you've misconstrued emotionality for something that also isn't real, similar to the concept of God.
We are coming from fundamentally different frameworks.
As long as readers don't think this place is completely Godless, I'm satisfied. Jesus is King.
Sure.
Jesus can be your king.
I'm not gonna stop you.
To be honest, it's because they accept the idea of Christianity being dominant, and thus move every statement to a counter to it. They can't see outside of the bubble within their own lives.
I'll use a weird example. A part of Mormon culture is being stuck in the 80's. No idea why, but deep Utah feels like time stopped. Even the hair styles women have is fairly 1980's.
So what do the rebels do? They dress as greasers from the 1980's. Led Zeppelin T shirts, long hair, tattoos, and all. They are rebelling against the dominant culture by using that cultural ideal as a basis.
We can find the same in texts all over the world. Confucius arguing with a Buddhist god over the place of man and the woman in society, and the God specifically changes their gender to thwart the idea.
It's weird, but it's how the minds doing it work.
German deconstructionism is what lead to the modern atheism. It’s basically Germanic philosophy and critical theory weaponized to only be used on certain topics. This is why critical theory is never used on black, lgbt, Jewish, Islamic or female identities. Only one Christianity, white, heterosexual, and western values that came from that amalgamation. You can imagine the shitshow if this practice was applied universally. The other problem with deconstructionism is that it offers no answers only a systemic way to cast doubt on what is an attempted answer. This is extremely problematic because while it could, if used properly, be used to objectively analyze a concept, however it has only been used to attack the current status of systems not every system equally to see which holds the highest validity. It is the reason we see flabbergastingly egregious cognitive dissonance in most people. They literally shut down when this theory is applied to anything that could be ‘problematic’
I think it started by people seeing inconsistences in scriptures. Also the problem of bad things happening to good people. Now, if that was used as a tool against the west is another story.
For me it was, that's why I'm still an atheist.
"God is dead and it is we who have killed him." is true for me.
God's serve me no purpose and grant me nothing. They are narrative constructions that are not relevant to rotating my life around, and would only serve to ground me in a church where I may be lectured to by someone who claims to be an anointed moral better. I reject this. I have developed my own sense of moral foundation form my experience and I have no complaints about that. For my own self, I have become anti-theist, in that I suspect most theists of being controlled and manipulated by people that are equally as hostile to their own followers well being as the SJWs. I actually expect the Leftists to embrace Liberation Theology, which is the Leftists narrative final form.
This, however, is not an idea that Liberalism, nor The Enlightenment, should be anti-theist.
Logic, Skepticism, Rationality, and the Scientific Method do not necessarily refute God. They can once you get to the point that the concept of God has to keep continually changing in order for it to be validated in the eyes of the believers after each round of testing. The most important aspect of any of these things is to test and analyse people who believe things simply for the sake of believing them without having actually investigated their beliefs. Most of the time you could side-step religion, but at some point it becomes impossible to side-step once you actually start to properly understand it as literary and rhetorical narratives, rather than anything to be take as absolutely literal.
Prominent Atheists have not been attacking only Christianity, there's a lot to say about Islam in particular. The problem is that the Leftists have systematically silenced those voices whenever possible.
I can tell you that the Atheist community was not looking to be taken over by Marxism back in the 2012 days of Atheism+ , but it got taken over anyway because any institution that is not explicitly anti-Leftist can be infiltrated by them. That is why I am here. The Communists have done far more damage than the Evangelicals were ever intending. Every once in a while you'd get an Evangelical shitposter talking about rounding up the gays onto an island and bombing them all to death... but that is the starting position of the establishment left about all Trump supporters at this point.
Sam Harris was actively against Islam. Judaism gets wrapped up into Christianity or the Abrahamic religions to keep people from getting called anti-semitic.
The wave of athiesm was I believe a multi part shift. The first part was that society had changed a lot and a lot of people didn't go to church. I won't go into specifics but really the times just changed and religion took a step back.
This is where the big athiest names came in. They wrote books, did lectures, and pushed people towards logic and science. Eventually science became the entertainment style of science like Bill Nye or NDT that was more about confirming pre-conceived notions instead of the rigorous and boring testing no one likes.
Then the LGBT groups showed up. This is what I recall of athiesm years ago. It started out with some kids get kicked from there house and need assistance to a full on takeover by lgbt and it was changed to athiesm+. The only central tenet of athiesm is not believing so I think they were an easy group for the woke crowd to take over since there's nothing binding them there and they could just leave to do something else.
I don't believe isn't a hill to die on or a philosophy that makes a coherent group. I think it's better to say that athiesm is a frame of mind and any movement was more about politics and power than anything else.
If there was a god sjw shits wouldn't exist
I might agree with you, but u/obrienmustsuffer has made the most compelling argument I've seen from Christendom in a while.
My evidence is God just told me you’re a faggot.
Huh. God told me the same. I've him tagged for a lonnng time.
As it was written, so shall it be done.
