If they mean the 'institutional response' to absolve China of any responsibility for what the CCP caused, then sure, that'll come in handy for climate change too.

Considering that the vast majority of pollution comes from China and India (where most of the population is) then it's exactly the same.

The whole notion of climate change/global warming is to shift blame from governments and megacorporations to the general populous of the western world.

The sad truth is you were duped by the media and academia's pushing of AGW.

Be proud that as you got older, your critical thinking got better and you were able to see through the bullshit hysteria

Some people never realize the truth.

That CO2, methane and other gases increase in concentration as a by product of billions of people's rising standart of living in mobility and ressource use, I believe.

That is has a mesurable effects on average temperature and climate patterns with logarithmic diminishing returns ( fixed rise per every doubling of concentration ), seems well supported too.

The cherry-picked, misrepresented, catastrophized doomer propaganda I can now see as a pathetic display of fear-mongering manipulation to coerce citizens into supporting whatever policies our elites want regardless of how effective they may be at mitigation... nope. That's a cult-like brainwashing of the masses.

The high emissions scenarios of the 1980's never happened because of the collapse of the USSR, collapsing birth rates of Europeans and increased energy efficiency.

We can simply keep improving our energy efficiency, fix the scorched-Earth population explosion of certain demographics, stabilize Euro demographics and keep rolling with technological progress gradually shifting energy sources as fossil fuels gradually depleate.

Dosen't fit with into the globalist fear porn narratives though. It became a proclamation of faith and heretics who question the "crisis" are instantly lumped with people who believe humans cannot ever emit enough GHG to raise temps by a single degree.

Just like the doomer, pseudoscientific "models" used for WuFlu mortality were hysterical propaganda bullshit. They predicted an excess mortality for Sweden of 100k+ if they didn't enact the same totalitarian policies of other Western countries.

Reality : 8k excess mortality that dosen't even take into account 2019 abnormaly low mortality that was bound to inflate the next toll of a normal flu season among extremely vulnerable people.

Wrong by a factor of more than 10.

Those models were the legitimacy for the lockdowns. The lockdowns were not scraped once those models were falsified by a factor of 10+. In fact, they were made more draconians.

Once the elites got us to submit to draconian restrictions to our basic liberties with falsehoods they may have sincerely believed, they abused that compliance despite the initial arguments falling apart.

And they will do the same with the climate fear porn.

Thank you - I’m not a climatologist, but I’m comfortable with numbers and familiar with reading academic research literature, so I’ve read some of the key papers, and from what I can gather...

  1. It’s pretty clear that CO2 emissions drive some amount of global atmospheric temperature increase

  2. It’s not at all clear what the magnitude of increase in temperature per increment of rise in CO2 is, and (as you’ve said) there may very well be diminishing returns / a dampening effect as CO2 levels rise

  3. Give 2), it’s not really clear whether the temperature rise we see with increasing CO2 emissions really has any practical negative impact as far as rising sea levels and all the other doomer shit everyone is all bent out of shape over.

What’s more, and perhaps more importantly, even if we assume there’s a problem that needs to be solved here to avert whatever catastrophe we think is going to happen, 99% of the solutions being proposed are basically totally impractical in that they’d set the Western world’s standard of living back about 100 years. Of course, given the shit that happened in 2020, I’m sure tptb will still try to force this shit sandwich down our throats regardless. Good times.

These people have been saying we are 10 years away from humanity dying for literally over 200 years, since Malthus. It is a scam for power, and they think themselves to be Dr Manhattan. I expect this talk about aliens is a similar scam.

The common enemy of humanity is man. In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. All these dangers are caused by human intervention, and it is only through changed attitude and behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy then, is humanity itself.

I would recommend Apocalypse Never: How Climate Alarmism Hurts Us by Michael Shellenberger.

Michael Shellenberger is a climate analyst and researcher who also has 30+ years of climate work and activism under his belt.

He currently works for the IPCC as a senior analyst. He used to be Obama's chief environmental advisor.

Effectively he has written his book as a full denunciation of climate alarmism, and debunks pretty much everything the media keeps parroting to us about the climate.

There never will be a climate apocalypse. Because 99% of the issues attributed to climate change have nothing to do with climate change.

Its also a really good book for citations, as the last 100 pages of it is just a very long list of scientific citations.

Yet another "Look, you've already given up your rights for covid, so let's just ... not give them back!" article?

The reasoning of "hospital capacity" for lockdown this year holds just as valid every flu season in Québec, when hospitals are usually above 110% capacity, with peaks over 135% capacity.

The emergency hospitals that cost hundreds of millions of dollars were never used, and the government just said they would triage and let people die if an hospital reaches 200% capacity.

Not a word about deploying this temporary hospitals we already paied for.

Just cue a few interviews with doctors and nurses begging for a break at "the war front" and lockdown the nation for weeks and months every year. Every year some doctors and nurses get stressed and overworked. The population surrendered its basic rights, we aren't getting them back.

Edit : Remember "two weeks to flatten the curve and save the hospitals" became "9 months+ of draconian lockdowns are worth it to save even a single life" even when it became clear hospitals were coping fine almost everywhere, and everywhere with smart use of patient transfers to low-charge hospitals.

Yup, the UK is at this point in the middle of another set of lockdowns. However, the government hasn't even bothered to work out what they want this current imposition upon me to accomplish. They're just locking down for the hell of it.

I'm not even kidding. One of the notes on the legislation behind the current set of lockdowns is "We didn't perform an impact assessment". We're now at the point of faith-based policies imprisoning the population of the UK, and I'd like a discussion of my rights, because I've recently found out I don't have any. Rights that can be taken away at a whim by government - and I don't know how else to describe imposing a lockdown because "fuck it" are not actually rights, are they? They'r'e permissions. I'd like a discussion with someone about getting some rights, unless we're deciding that Westminster is just a Gothic-architecture Politburo.

Odd that they still don't admit they are openly Fabian and Malthusian acolytes.

The west would have to recolonize Africa and force them into modern farming techniques.

China is taking over Africa, and for now they don't care about magic -ists and -phobes words.

I wonder if they will ever realize modern European empires were objectively the least opressive colonizers. ( New-World colonization era Spain was "WTF?!" burtal territory though. ISIS would aprouve. ).

Wow, I guess they're really confident Biden and Harris will get in this month. I was expecting the to wait for this pivot until Harris was sworn in.

I still really don't understand why people think that Harris is some sort of key to all of this. She's a bog-standard establishment Democrat with a corrupt-law-enforcement flavor.

Neither she nor Biden will be calling the shots. It's going to be the "deep state" actors and the cabinet picks that set policy. This should be painfully obvious to anyone who watched the Bush and Obama presidencies, where they both campaigned on not being establishment warhawks, and then immediately became establishment warhawks when getting into office. These "presidents" just did what they were told. They weren't leaders, they were figureheads.

They don't need Harris, they just need someone who won't get in their way.

The key is that an establishment puppet replaces Trump. You're right that Harris is just one more in a long line of them.

Yes, the international approach of every country doing whatever they want about it and calling each other racist if they disagree with restrictions/sanctions of others.

I think it goes higher than that and to the handful of actual elites that control even the feminist groups. Those pulling strings internationally for profit or their own subversive ideas.

Xi Jinping, Soros, Koch, etc. Feminists are just one of many useful idiots to their engineering.

You think these people just popped out of nothing to their massive power? That absurdly powerful elites are anything new? There have been men like that every generation. Shit the CIA alone in America spent most of the last few generations doing shit like this, and that's what we know about.

All of these "activists" groups would be nothing without the logistics and funding coming from "somewhere". Much of that is changed hands a dozen times through various organizations that eventually lead back to a handful of people (or the governments writing checks on their behalf).

BLM just this year went from a loose group of rioting idiots, to a massive movement of coordinated rioters internationally back to nothing the moment they weren't needed. Feminist "groups" are little different.
