Does anyone here miss Milo Yiannopoulos?
posted 5 years ago by AbleistSL 5 years ago by AbleistSL +39 / -0

I just wanted to ask everyone about their thoughts are on Milo Yiannopoulos and why he is no longer active that much anymore.

I am aware of the drama involving his comments on the drunken pesants podcast and his firing from brietbart and want to know if it affected your views on him.

I wish he came back though.

I don't really, but I miss the fact that people like him could appear once in a while. Anyone with a view contrary to the far left or who is extremely outspoken can get censored much more quickly now.

He got thrown under the bus for backing Trump.

He's on Parler though.

He got thrown under the bus for backing Trump.

No, he got thrown under bus for saying that being stat-raped as a gay teenager wasn't exactly a terrible experience. Dude had his entire career erased for sharing his personal experience as a victim.

Then gays in San. Francisco literally decriminalized what happened to him. So he was railroaded out of the public discourse for half-excusing something that his political opponents don't even believe is a crime.

And his employers, Breitbart, buckled immediately and fired him on the spot after he'd brought them more new, young readers than anyone else on their staff had done in decades.

I don't like the guy, but I find what was done to him, by both WSJ and Breitbart, to be some of the lowest, snake-tier shit.

It really is bad what happened to him, but given the current environment, he should have known better. Trying to brush it off as not too bad (likely out of a subconscious desire to not be seen as a victim) was optical suicide.

There's nothing subconscious about it. He has out right said on several occasions that, that specific event doesn't define him.

'should have known better'

Than to say the same thing that George Takei has said on several occasions, and he's still Nerd God of the Left?

Everywhere I look there's CIA fucking up America.

This was the statement by Trump that caused Chuck Schumer to warn on the Rachel Maddow Show in 2017 that if Trump continued to criticize CIA, they would get back at him "six different ways to Sunday":

You're right, but the first thing I thought of The Vandals - If The Government Could Read My Mind.

Also, kind of depressing, that used to be just a funny song...now most of that shit came or is coming true. I'm just waiting on the aliens at this point. Should be a perfectly 2020 conclusion to 2020.

Exactly.

They were approved, and Milo wasn't. He knew that, and he knew how the game was played, then shot himself in the foot. Double standards are complete bollocks, but it is what it is.

I do kind of miss his mischievous takes on everything, but I think mostly I just miss that era before all of this shit became serious. I don't like that Rome is burning.

Milo's 15 minutes of fame are over. He was amusing and witty. The media ate him up and then spit him out.

Or how about that sad sack Philip de Franco? He was all the rage for a while too until nobody cared about his asshat commentary any more.

e-celebs come and go. Once they're gone nobody gives a shit.

I still like him. If he puts out a new video I tend to watch it.

On a side not, while unintentional, there is this gay character in BG3 , Astarion, that I think is suppose to be an evil gay character elf that reminds me of Milo.

He was a gay jewish attention whore.

Nah I don't miss him at all.

The only thing he was slightly "right/conservative" on was economics, and only somewhat vaguely because he was anti-communist.

His social views were peak degeneracy, his political views made no sense, and his economic stance was whatever gave him attention.

He was definitely a mess in term of consistency but he was anti-communist, he was anti-sjw and on our side on gamer gate. Most importantly he brought out the hypocrisy of the left, how they throw insults like racist or nazi around to discredit someone despite being a gay guy married to a black dude and was jewish by ancestry or something.

I also found interesting what he had to say about gay lifestyle. If you watch his interview with J. Peterson he gives a lot of insight in to gay community and how common it is for young teenagers to mix with older men and how the catholic church is SJW haven do to being a large gay crowd, and the same pedophiles that abused children are the same who push for progressive ideas inside the church.

his political views made no sense

  1. I'm a flaming faggot.
  2. I'm a boisterous attention whore and Jewish.
  3. Islamists murder even mostly-closeted gays.
  4. Islamists murder even quiet, unassuming Jews.
  5. I don't want to be around Islamists.
  6. The only political faction that will permit #3 to be said is the 'Right'.

I think a lot of people are nailing it. It was more fun back then, because it wasn't serious, so there's some nostalgia for that. The banter and hot takes were fun. Also, top comment nails it, that it's discouraging that it's much harder for someone to join the conversation in such a major, high-profile way, if they're conservative, or even just speaking out against the far-left. Censorship has gotten even worse than it was, and the media may have even learned a bit, or at least gotten new marching orders. I'm not sure they'll make the mistake again of giving someone like Trump or Milo attention, even if it's all negative attention. In their attempts to vilify, they just drew attention to them, and made them look like courageous rebels and mavericks.

As to Milo himself...yes and no. I feel bad for what happened to him, and it was fun having him around. But he wasn't essential, and was always a bit of a hanger on. He wanted the fame and attention, and that means he could never be one hundred percent trustworthy. But he was fun! Basically, I don't actively miss him...but I do think it would be fun to have him back, as long as people don't take him too seriously or start worshipping him.

His flamboyant homosexuality was a big turn off.

The flamboyant homosexuality was there to lampshade how the left doesn't actually give a shit about the opinions of gay people who disagree with them, while simultaneously showing that the right isn't bothered by it.

It was brilliant.

It was the fact that he more or less said he was fine with it. He was called for supporting pedophiles. He even said he would take it back and reframe it. Thing is it was such something that he would say to provoke that I think he just could not help himself.

The fact that this stuff happens in gay communities should probably be discussed seriously, even include it in sex ed instead of teaching girls that they are boys for wanting to play soccer and play with cars rather then dolls. I also assume there are issues with lesbian relationships that probably needs to be discussed, I remember something about lesbian couples having higher percentage of domestic abuse then hetero couples.

When he fucked up or possibly misapropriated funds for the "Privilege Grant" I largely stopped following him.

He had some quality funny sass against Leftist retardation, but fucking-up by neglect with charity money, or taking it for oneself, that's repulsive.
