I just wanted to ask everyone about their thoughts are on Milo Yiannopoulos and why he is no longer active that much anymore.
I am aware of the drama involving his comments on the drunken pesants podcast and his firing from brietbart and want to know if it affected your views on him.
I wish he came back though.
I think a lot of people are nailing it. It was more fun back then, because it wasn't serious, so there's some nostalgia for that. The banter and hot takes were fun. Also, top comment nails it, that it's discouraging that it's much harder for someone to join the conversation in such a major, high-profile way, if they're conservative, or even just speaking out against the far-left. Censorship has gotten even worse than it was, and the media may have even learned a bit, or at least gotten new marching orders. I'm not sure they'll make the mistake again of giving someone like Trump or Milo attention, even if it's all negative attention. In their attempts to vilify, they just drew attention to them, and made them look like courageous rebels and mavericks.
As to Milo himself...yes and no. I feel bad for what happened to him, and it was fun having him around. But he wasn't essential, and was always a bit of a hanger on. He wanted the fame and attention, and that means he could never be one hundred percent trustworthy. But he was fun! Basically, I don't actively miss him...but I do think it would be fun to have him back, as long as people don't take him too seriously or start worshipping him.
