That was unexpected. Since when did they have embedded video?

The big deal is that Sony is so incompetent they can't even transcribe corpospeak answers correctly. They misquoted him in their own interview.

You think far too highly of CNN. For it to be shocking you would need an implicit expectation that they had some internal framework that would make them reluctant to say faggotry. They have no such standards. If everything is about power and narrative control, however... well if you can make people say "f word" like they do "n word" congrats, you're wielding some real narrative control equating those two. Though, faggotry and niggerdry are both learned behaviors. There's certainly predispositions but if man can't conquer nature well then ate they a man or a beast in the first place?

As opposed to needing to buy an entire new set of minis for an alternate appearance this is downright generous by GW standards.

Did you read the entire post where I laid out a preferred option or short-circuit at a generalization?

raptor_jesus -5 points ago +2 / -7

Paid cosmetics are usually fine. Though it would be cool to have, even if it's like the ps3 Neptunia games and you do it out of game, painting minis. Redoing textures (and having other people's custom ones as a toggle online) would be pretty cool. Even if you restricted particles, sounds etc to paid skins.

I can't do justice to how inundated white wolf is sjw nonsense in a quick rundown, but know that it's bad enough to publish shit that gets commented on by Chechen Minister for National Policy and Foreign Relations weighing in on their bs. You... really have no idea what virtual tabletops are and didn't pick up on how it's a fair bit easier to play with a group spread across states or even countries online than trying to get together to physically play in person. Yeah obviously no one company has a monopoly, but dei/bridge shit is ubiquitous.

I can't tell if you're actually being serious or not. Firstly, you're responding to a person who specifically mentioned running Exalted, which is made by White Wolf. Secondly, are you just assuming that Foundry is replacing gaming in a physical space when far more often virtual tabletops are used to facilitate games that wouldn't be able to happen in person on paper. Third, you literally cannot be serious if you think it doesn't cut down on bookkeeping or speed up play when rolling dozens of exploding dice to automate it. Fourth, your paper is gay

If it were paid dlc and not a free patch yeah. But the fact that the censorship itself was so last minute that the it came after the uncensored version was approved and disks manufactured leans toward it Sony being little shits. Nikke is still fanservice: the game (and launching a character with a literal naked skin the day prior to Stellar Blade's launch) so I doubt it's Shift Up's corporate culture that censored that. Between this and Helldivers Sony really ate crow and had to correct course fast.

If you can't take a concession and a win you'll never gain any ground.

That's something of a tautology. Behavior designed to integrate into society with minimal friction aids those who benefit from the current arrangement of society. Well, yeah.

The people in charge of recognizing successful businesses to invest in are not the administrators in charge of hiring or professors developing curricula. Endowments can get fucking insane. Harvard's is about 10x Greenland's gdp.

You broke the chain of responding to people's posts. And no. I would say things like hearing about Anime, Manga, and other cultural exports becoming popular overseas meaning that overseas people appreciate Japanese culture has a lot to do with shifting views combined with fewer people who have firsthand experience fighting wars against foreign nations. There's also the internet which for most people if they encounter someone foreign it's someone who took the time to learn their language. That probably has more to do with shifting attitudes than pretending westerners specifically are not being shown in reporting.

Ok you're just dumb. Op is doing the same mindreading intent-assigning bs he cries about Dom doing to him and I can't help but notice you haven't acknowledged that the just don't do photos in news coverage for crimes, or tried to refute it. You shifted to "why would you entertain that there are other solutions and not just take Wikipedia's word on stuff then assign op's chosen explanation?"

"Wikipedia of all places" doesn't say much of anything. It's an old event and not in the news again. The fact that it's even being edited in the 2020s is an indication that it isn't people with new info to add about the event, but people with a separate agenda going through changing stuff. This goes both ways.

See how many articles feature mugshots and the like. It isn't many at all if any as of writing this. I'm sure these are joggers, right?

Kirato Wakayama, a former actor, and Kang Gwang Gi allegedly strangled to death Ryutaro Takarajima, 55, and his wife Sachiko, 56, in the garage of a vacant house in Tokyo's Shinagawa Ward between the night of April 15 and the early hours of April 16. https://japantoday.com/category/crime/2-men-face-murder-charges-over-burned-bodies-found-north-of-tokyo

The Miyazaki District Court found Yoichi Tsuura, who was a technical assistant at the National Institute of Technology, Miyakonojo College, sexually assaulted them by spiking their foods and drinks between July 2015 and March 2023. https://japantoday.com/category/crime/ex-college-employee-gets-23-yrs-for-raping-drugged-students

Maybe different cultutes just do reporting in general differently.

Even when explicitly making accusations that could start international incidents they don't DO photos in articles. Accusing someone of taking photos secretly of naked kids is not some minor shit. And the person accused is a public figure and they still don't do photos. https://mainichi.jp/english/articles/20240514/p2g/00m/0na/067000c

It's important to remember Japan's laws are way different than the west. Truth is not a defense against defamation, for instance. So if you cause reputational harm, even if that shit is TRUE, you can be liable. Boats don't get rocked.

That lacks very important context: "when?" If there isn't coverage of events that happened 30 tears ago in contemporary reporting then gee golly willikers I wonder why they aren't talking about it now 30 years on. But frankly the real reason for a blackout here is US-Japan relations. You rarely will see US servicemembers being shown in the news.

I mean, Korean games got to a point of tying accounts to the equivalent of SSNs, so there are options besides isolated networks that work pretty damn well.

The Dawngate fiasco made things even more clear. They had shut down the game, the studio, and had no interest in even entering that market again because they weren't making League of Legends money when the game was still in beta. (And it was better than League with more variety in characters and they did the differentiated forms of income way better than league as well as having even "passive" gold generation be active and something you can control to an extent [there were workers mining that gold and you could attack the enemy workers to disrupt it or even capture the mine yourself, though it being right outside the enemy's base makes it a pretty clear case of defender's advantage])

Fans started a Kickstarter and hit their fundraising goal to buy the IP. Then, when they did this, EA realized they were serious and raised the price out of their reach. Fuck EA.

The idea of precedent makes perfect sense. Predictable outcomes for the same fact patterns and consistent interpretations from judge to judge. The problem arises when you get naked partisans that get first crack at something that rule on what they want the law to be, not what it is.
