Both men and women, including black men and women, could vote in some states as early as 1776. Voting was generally tied to owning property. Women who owned property in New Jersey, for example, could vote. The same goes for free black men and women who owned property.

The problem wasn't giving women or black people the right to vote, the problem was allowing people with no stake in society the right to vote.

IMHO detaching the right to vote from land ownership may have been a good move, but only if it could have been replaced by something else that indicates your stake in society. For starters, only people who pay more to the government in taxes than they receive in benefits should be allowed to vote. That would cut out half of the population right there.

The fatal flaw is giving people who contribute nothing to society the ability -- via voting -- to take from those who do contribute to society.

It's a desirable feature right now specifically to the Left because they support anything that gives them more power. Consequences be damned. The Left could care less about democracy but this helps them, so it's "good".

You have convinced yourself that having a full head of hair attracts exclusively shallow women

You're just making stuff up at this point. It's almost like you know you don't actually have an argument.

Im not condemning you, I’m attempting to awaken you.

How pretentious of you.

If you think having a full head of hair gives someone a bigger selection advantage than their personal character, self-discipline, the way they treat others, their honesty and integrity, etc. then I encourage you to test that hypothesis.

Your strategy will lead you to hooking up with shallow women who will abort your baby, brainwash your child, divorce you, take half your income, break your heart and ruin your life. My strategy will result in lasting happiness and success; it's not even a contest.

Upvoting for self-awareness.

Practically speaking though, I don't know how you can vet people for hateful ideas unless they volunteer the information, and even so, I don't trust anyone with authority to be the arbiter of what is "hateful" or not. That type of authority would get abused faster than you can say "Parag Agrawal".

TheImpossible1 is on a crusade against the female hive-mind taking over the planet.

novanleon 1 point ago +1 / -0

If you value the superficial opinion of women that much, then you're just proving my point. Maybe you're just shallow?

Everyone is allowed to be a little insecure about things like their appearance from time-to-time, everyone is, but it's important not to fool yourself into thinking it's anything but superficial.

novanleon 9 points ago +9 / -0

You're treating all women as if they're a hive-mind again.

What do porn stars and OnlyFans have to do with feminists in education?

She's not wrong. I don't understand the outrage here.

(sees the op's username...)

Oh... nevermind.

novanleon 2 points ago +2 / -0

I may not like you for saying it, but I'll defend your right to say it.

This is because the slippery slope to all sorts of bad things starts here. I just wish people saw all the other slippery slopes as clearly as this one.

Suggesting that race doesn’t matter destroys all of your reasonable arguments. Race predetermines and affects all other outcomes regardless of societal influences.

This worldview is basically a different side of the same coin as the Left; in-fact, I'd wager you probably adopted your position over the last 5-10 years as a reaction to the Left.

Someone's race and my thinning hair don't matter. The insecurity comes from thinking they do. Self-improvement is realizing they don't and understanding what really does matter... your personal character, self-discipline, the way you treat others, your honesty and integrity, just to name a few. It is important to understand and come to terms with your own nature so you can face it head-on, but everyone is battling their own demons and it's how you deal with those demons that defines you, not the deck you were dealt with at the start.

Understanding who you are may include understanding your parents, grandparents and ancestry, but don't think that just because society puts you in a poorly defined group called "race" (a term with multiple definitions and no scientific specificity) that your identity -- who you are as a person, your character, your value as a human being -- is somehow tied to your race.

Blacks need to remember that they are black, and start from there — just as you do as a man with male pattern baldness. You both have genetic disadvantages that must be accepted and overcome to compete in society and live a healthy life.

Who says it's a genetic disadvantage?

You have a bad temper and it's easy to set you off. Do you blame this on being white, or do you just deal with it, understanding it's one of the cards you were dealt? Attributing it to being white does absolutely nothing for you. The same is true whether you have a history of suicide in your family, have trouble opening up to people, get jealous quickly, get uncontrollably obsessive over small details, suffer from crippling apathy, have trouble adapting to social settings, suffer from addiction, and so on.

By your logic, you should just be able to ignore it and it will stop affecting you.

It makes no difference whether I ignore it or not. Whether I'm bald or not is irrelevant to my value as a person. The same is true for my race.

Slurs only hurt when you're insecure about something. Schoolyard bullies will try to pick out something you're insecure about such as your height or hair color or deadbeat dad and use it against you. When slurs don't actually hit on anything you're insecure about, they're ineffective.

I'm white but I've never identified as white... my race is completely out of sight and out of mind for me, so calling me an anti-white slur is meaningless to me. If you mocked my thinning hair I might be a little sensitive about it though.

The challenge for the black community is understanding that they were raised by society that explicitly wants them to be insecure about their race. This is done by different people for different reasons, some of them political. The first step to escaping this is to move beyond race and adopt an identity based on something that actually matters rather than the color of your skin.

Vaush has the personality of a spoiled 8-year-old child. He exaggerates and uses big words just to make himself sound smart in front of his friends, when in reality he doesn't actually know what he's talking about and can't follow basic logic.

Watching a Hasan or Vaush stream are like entering an alternate reality where rationality and logic don't exist and everything is backwards. It's a little scary how these people are so popular.

When I was in Japan I realized that they actually read the fine print on things. Over here in the US the fine print is just a wall of legal mumbo-jumbo so the company can dodge any legal liability. Over there, the fine print I encountered was actually important and readable... and they expected you to actually read it and follow it.

Also, it seems like most of their societal norms are enforced by the society itself through social pressure like shame and ostracization, not legal measures.

Make no mistake, they have their own problems, but there was something liberating about being in a country where the first recourse for every disagreement wasn't to sue them or take them to small claims court.

I don't know what you're on about. Communism was literally a man's idea. All of the foundational thinkers and leaders were men. I actually can't think of a single woman who was a substantial contributor to Communist theory.

Communism may be marketed as having feminine qualities in order to appeal to the masses but every actual implementation of Communism is far from feminine... it's as hard-line authoritarian as it comes and quickly devolves into a straight-up dictatorship. Like most things, there's a big difference between the messaging and the reality.

novanleon 8 points ago +8 / -0

You're way too focused on women.

Women are pliable and will ultimately follow man's lead. Bad actors such as Leftist Democrats and Communists exploit women's nature for political reasons and then throw them away when they're no longer useful (see: "trans-radical feminists"). Communism was "invented" and aggressively implemented by men. Men are at the lead of the entire Leftist movement. There is definitely an effort to de-value masculinity and feminize the populace, but that's because the establishment wants them to be weak and obedient.

If you don't think there's been a conscious effort by Communists to subvert society in the last 50+ years, then you haven't been paying attention.

Not sure what Jack Thompson's politics are but it was Tipper Gore, the Democrats and the media who spearheaded the whole anti-gaming initiative. It wasn't the conservatives, although a number of Republicans went along with it like they always do.

Anything James Lindsay says or does is a drop in the ocean. This is true for most internet commentators, even the big ones like Joe Rogan. Most normal people have no idea Joe Rogan even has a podcast, much less James Lindsay. The biggest impact this has is on younger people who are more internet connected but even among those, James Lindsay is a small voice.

While their messaging may still be worthwhile, I haven't seen any evidence that these voices on the internet are enough to be the deciding factor in the culture war.

The Left has been winning the culture war for three reasons:

  1. They co-opted the education system in this country decades ago and have slowly been ramping up their propaganda over time with each subsequent generation being more brainwashed than the last.

  2. They've been spreading their messaging via all popular media channels including Hollywood, television, pop music and news media. This also has been going on for decades.

  3. Perhaps the most significant: the Left's message is sexy, the Right's message is not:

  • No personal responsibility, the government is always there to bail you out, have promiscuous sex without consequences, have no shame for anything, punish the rich, punch Nazis, fight for civil rights, get free stuff... these all appeal to humanity's base instincts and are particularly likely to find traction among younger people.

  • Compare this to: take personal responsibility, "clean up your room", stand on your own two feet, work hard, have kids, raise a family, exercise self-discipline, put the needs of your children before your own, respect the liberty of others... none of these things are going to appeal to people naturally, especially when they are young. They only begin to resonate with people once they realize how devoid of meaning the alternative messages are, and many simply never reach that realization.

While I think people like James Lindsey will help us overcome #2 above, it will take time. The closest we've come to addressing #3 is Jordan Peterson who made personal responsibility attractive to a lot of young people, particularly men. We will see if this trend continues. But we still have no response to #1 except just to pull kids out of schools and homeschool. Maybe this is enough? Time will tell.

These clearly don’t have anything to do with race, but rather black culture, because when blacks from other countries come here to the USA they do far better than blacks born here into the American “black culture” (which is really a creation of white Democrats who need a dependent underclass to win elections). Blacks in the USA prior to FDR didn’t have most of these problems, it’s FDR-era policies which put black families on the path to government (Democrat Party) dependency.

It’s fine if you don’t understand the Christian perspective concerning this life and death… but what do you expect Christians to do beyond what they’ve been doing for the last 50 years, i.e. working within the system to fight the Left at every turn, only to have the rise of secularism and moral degeneracy become a tide that is too strong for them to hold back? Why is the blame for this placed on Christians and not the predominantly secular/atheist Left who promised for years that abolishing Christianity and religion in general would lead to a more rational world?

2
novanleon 2 points ago +2 / -0

Sorry but you’re just wrong. You’re seriously trying to argue that Christian values allowed for a rise in the popularity of socialism, LGBT acceptance, the gender spectrum, diversity and inclusion? What are you talking about? Christians were regularly smeared and mocked for decades (and still are) for opposing all of these things.

Many of the people here were just red-pilled in the last 5 years or so. While they we’re out voting for Obama or “feeling the Bern” or fighting for gay marriage, Christians were holding fast and voting for the most conservative options on the ballot. The white Christian (non-Catholic) vote has been one of the most reliable voting blocks for Republicans since the 70’s at least. You don’t get to turn around and blame Christians now when most of the people here (most of who are non-religious) actively contributed to the cultural decline that we’ve been fighting for so long.
