A good amount of them probably do want to kill him. The worrying thing about the left is that they've done what everyone has done during wartime. They reduce 'the enemy' to being less than human. They don't see you as being normal people, with families, pets, dreams and jobs. They just see you as a non-human enemy that they've told themselves, wants to kill them. And a good amount of them genuinely seem to believe it.
While 'the right' has retained it's sanity, the left or who remains on the left, has completely lost it. While we still view them as humans, albeit misguided and dumb humans, we don't want to kill them. They don't afford us the same treatment though, and as we've seen, they're willing to hunt us down and murder us because we're just 'the bad guys'. This line of brainwashing allows them to kill you without guilt, remorse or even consequence, because they don't even see you as an equal or a human. You're an enemy that needs to be destroyed because the fact you exist is threatening to them.
