Yeah, look I see your point. It is in many ways a "tasteless" image. Personally I'm not offended by it, nor do I see it screaming "misogynist" (well, about me anyways)...but I do see your point to some degree about being out in public and someone else having the right to offense. I mean I certainly wouldn't deny someone the right to be offended and I wouldn't even mind if someone came up and had a civil discourse about it, either. But the keywords there being civil discourse.
Personally, I'm not a misogynist. I don't hate women. I had mixed up feelings for a long time based on something that happened to me as a kid (ahhh fuck it, I'll just say it. I was molested by a woman as a kid.)...but I've dealt with it in therapy and have come out the other end to realize that one persons shitty actions are not representative of the entire gender and you can't hate the entire gender because of one fucking asshole.
But anyways, I do see your point...I just thought the outburst was amusing to me. Personally speaking, I just like the image and have always been into weird vulgar imagery. It's not that I go out of my way to offend, I just happen to like offensive shit and have no issue displaying that like of mine. Probably why I gravitated to horror films and Cannibal Corpse as a kid because of all the grotesque imagery and me just having a liking for it....and it was an outlet of sorts for repressed thoughts.

The most I've ever had is one moment with a feminist at Sydney University. I was frequently there every Saturday for Japanese Lessons via Community College. I had a Cannibal Holocaust sticker on the back of my iPad and was sitting outside.
The Cannibal Holocaust sticker was a cartoon version of the infamous image of the naked girl impaled on the pole as drawn by a Japanese friend of mine.
It was a really cool cartoon version of what is arguably the most iconic image in Cannibal Holocaust.
Anyways, I was sitting there at a table minding my own business reading text book on iPad when this purple haired frumpy girl came up to me and asked me "what the hell is that?" in regards to the sticker on the back of my iPad.
I told her "It's an iPad. What else would it be?"
"NO! The STICKER! That filthy sticker! Do you know how sexist and degrading that is?"
Me: "It's just a cartoon...it's not the real image."
Her: <raising her voice> "I don't fucking care! It's still fucking degrading and misogynistic as all hell and you should be fucking ashamed of yourself for having it on your fucking iPad!"
Me: "<shrugs> it's my iPad...I paid for it. I'll decorate it however I like, but thanks for your input."
Her: "Fine! You want to scream "I'm a misogynistic pig!" then go right ahead!"
Me: "Okay...then would you call the female artist who drew this image a misogynist? Because it was a female artist who drew this cartoon version and I happen to really like her artwork and she is a friend of mine."
Her: "Yeah fucking right! No self respecting woman would draw that shit!"
Me: "But a woman did draw it! Her name is Utomaru. Her artwork is awesome and I'm proudly displaying her art on my iPad because I really like it."
Her: "WHATEVER YOU FUCKING PIG! YOU'RE STILL A FUCKING MISOGYNIST!"
And then she waddled off in a huff...I still wish to this day I had been filming it...it was hilarious to me that someone could get so offended by a cartoon version of that image. And yes, the image was actually drawn by a woman...so I wasn't making that up. :D

I am saving every damn cent I make to get the fuck out of this country. I have some knowledge of Japanese. I have friends who live in Japan. I'm pretty sure I could get a working visa if things don't change on that front and find somewhere to live over there. Even if I have to house share...I'll do it!
They say Teaching English is the easiest way to go in Japan...the only thing that might hamstring me is that I don't have a degree. I don't know, some people say you can get a Teaching job there without a degree so long as you're fluent and present yourself well enough. Others say it's difficult without a degree. That might be the one thing that may hamstring me.
But I do have 8 years of Japanese under my belt. I've been there 7 years in a row before the lockdown. I've lived and studied there for a month and found it pretty manageable. I'm pretty sure I could do it...the job part is the only thing that worries me.
But yeah, the moment this country opens up (if ever) then I am fucking out of here!

I have a friend on Facebook who at the height of Trump was just non stop Anti Trump. When it came to elections, I remember reading a post where he was denouncing Black Republicans as being retarded because they weren't voting democrat. I can't remember what the exact post was but that was the gist of it. Because how dare someone has an individual thought, right?
Mind you, now that Biden is in White House and is proving to be more of a disaster than Trump ever was...that friend is completely radio silent on the political front.
But the point is simple...THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE. They only care when said Black People are on their side. Then they're just useful accessories they can wave around when necessary.
And this is why I despise politics...I used to say it "brings out the worst" in people....but now I think that maybe it just exposes their true colors.
I never thought I'd say this...but I'm at a point where I have more respect for straight up honest racists than I do most so called virtuous people. At least the racist is honest and consistent with their hate. The so called virtuous are just fake as shit. I mean I hate racism in general...but I never thought I'd say I have more respect for honest racists than not.
It's less that they are incapable of free thought and moreso going along with the trend for fear of being ostracized. it's easier to go along with the trend and be popular and accepted than it is to stand up for what you believe to be right. And that's where the majority are. They'd rather go with the flow.
Honestly, I feel like the entertainment industry started moving this way after the success of the likes of Twilight and The Hunger Games....they all saw that female protagonists was the new wave and tried to ride it. I mean think about it. There's a very specific reason the bow and arrow was a prominent weapon in The Last of Us (and in other games moving forward) and it was very clearly Katniss influenced.
But to me that was the beginnings of it. Twilight and The Hunger Games were huge hits (for reasons still unknown) and everyone jumped on the trend going forward. Then the ideologues started letting their voices be heard.
People here can blame Anita all they want -- I mean I'm no fan of Anita and think she's your everyday con-artist -- but this really wasn't just Anita's doing alone. (not entirely)...the entertainment industry saw the success of the two noted franchises and all rushed in that direction like a bunch of hacks just looking to ride the $$$. Anita didn't help...of course...but to me she wasn't the sole cause of this.
And here we are....that's not to give a pass to the ideologues...the ideologues didn't help in preaching this shit...but the reality is you have the likes of Twilight and Hunger Games to blame for this shit.
