For those unaware, this is just the trailer, to see the whole move, look outside.

The movie was never made because the director and his family were found dead in their home.

Watch A Gray State documentary produced by Werner Herzog based on what happened to the film maker behind this. Quite interesting.

The cops claimed it was a murder suicide but the director was shot in the back of the head.

Much more doable if held upside down. But very unusual still.

How much we changed, we were against government control, government monitoring our lives, pro freedom of speech and live and let live. I still can't believe it happened.

What happened? I seriously don't get it. I grew up at a time that was Anti Establishment. Anti Authority. Rock was about sticking it to the man. Now; the (wo)man is good, the (wo)man protects us all, the (wo)man...I mean what the fuck happened? How did it get this way? How is it kids went from distrusting authority to relying on it to live in their "safe spaces"?

Let me guess, that's what the rockers that were paid millions of dollars made you believe? That's what state funded MTV said day in and day out? The corporate news told your parents you're rebels and the state schools told you the same?

But what did that generation really DO that was anti-authoritarian? Fight the power by embracing hedonistic consumerism! Live just for yourself and don't build a family or a community based on anything other than consuming. You don't need church or family. That'll show 'em!

The left won and script flipped. The entire music scene is and was a psyop to make kids more left wing and pro socialism/communism.

the rockers that were paid millions of dollars

nah it was mostly small bands. i cant think of any "big multimillionaire" bands that participated in the anti authority rock scene - 1 exception is rage, were the dead kennedies multimillionaires? I dont think so, and theyre a long running example of going against the grain.

The corporate news told your parents you're rebels and the state schools told you the same?

None of my schools ever called students rebels. and where do you have clips of CNN calling people rebels before drumpf?

what did that generation really DO that was anti-authoritarian?

Which generation, the parents or the media?

Fight the power by embracing hedonistic consumerism!

Punks are still mostly anticonsumers.

Live just for yourself and don't build a family or a community based on anything other than consuming.

Are you talking about the media messages, or boomers as parents?

You don't need church or family. That'll show 'em!

Where did you see that messaging at the same time as "youre rebels"???

Honestly, virtue signaling on social media for dopamine hits. You get rewarded for ”correct opinions" and even if you started out somewhat moderate on the subject, you eventually radicalize yourself.

It's a coercion technique they learned from Vietnam. American POWs would get rewarded for simple things, like writing one paragraph about what is bad about America. Next day, tell us why American imperialism is harmful, etc. The POWs would go along with it for something as pointless as a candy bar. What harm could it do, I don't actually believe America is bad!

They did this repeatedly, becoming more critical as time passed. Eventually they radicalized themselves and it was no longer coercion but cooperation.

Actually, it goes right back to BF Skinner. You're describing a Skinner Box. Push the right lever, get the reward you want. Push the wrong one, get a nasty shock.

You might be interested to investigate the types of psychological experiments they have done on non-humans. They are just applying stuff learned 100 years ago.

I used to like Rage but as I grew older, I realized how full of shit they were. Let's rage against the system...while charging our fans $180 for tickets. Down with Capitalism! Meanwhile, they all live in lavish houses paid by...wait for it...capitalism!

I will always like their music to some degree, but their politics are absolute fucking dog shit and hypocritical as all hell.

"No one could have foreseen flying an aircraft into a skyscraper" was repeated over and over.

"Um, it was on TV just the other day!" My reply. It even was the WTC building too.

That ending shot with the water flowing up the pyramid sculpture was pretty great.
