Instead of taking it slow, people who are obsessed with looking skinny instead of being healthy are taking the higher doses at rapidly higher rates with no "adjustment period". Much like psychiatric medications meant to control stuff like schizophrenia, the point of these meds is to take the LEAST amount you need to sustain your weight.
All these side effects are a result of losing weight too fast. It fucks up everything in your body because your body can't compensate for the rapid weight loss - you get sagging skin, dry skin, you look "old", tired, etc.
This is also what causes pancreatitis/thyroid issues - your body can't compensate for the rapid weight loss and things go out of whack.
If you know someone who has been getting these side effects from taking it, then you know that person is a retard that should not be allowed near anything that requires precise handling.
These side effects also affect people more who are already slightly above healthy BMI. Meaning, if you're just a little chubby, GLP-1's are not the best way to lose weight, because of shit like this. These things help people who are in the 250-300 lb range - that's where you're in danger of dying of all kinds of shit and where even a 5-10% loss of weight can extend your lifespan by a significant amount.
Most importantly, you do not just use these by itself. If you take this stuff and you don't change your behavior, diet, etc. you're not going to improve.
Apparently the healthy rate is to lose a pound a week. That is sustainable and keeps your body from flipping out from the weight loss. Even if you used some other means of weight loss losing weight too fast can cause the same symptoms.
Where I am I've started visiting the more rural parts of my state. One of those "one way in, same road out" sorta deals.
