Kansas (R) Primary called at 8.34% in, Moran wins.

This surprises me exactly zero percent. Moran is extremely popular locally, so there was really no chance he was going to lose this.

I'm calling it, we lose this one. Current split 64/36.

If it means anything to you, looking at the map of the counties that have reported so far its all of the big cities (Wichita, Lawrence, Manhattan, Kansas City+suburbs). But if it does fail, I am honestly not going to be surprised. The amendment was written in such a way that even a lot of more conservative people like my family voted No for the simple reason that it is far too open ended. It gives the state the power to change the law at will, and it doesnt really include any limiting language. So if somehow the Dems got a majority in the state (extremely unlikely IMO, but still), they could change the law to be more like California.

I suppose. All I know is that a lot of people from outside the state that I have talked to say it gets unreasonably hot, and even a lot of people who are from here. I am the weirdo among a lot of people I know for being able to tolerate the heat, because they cant stand it when it gets into the 90's and 100's.

Depends. Western Kansas (Dodge City, Garden City, Liberal, Goodland, etc) is dry heat. Eastern Kansas, where I am (Salina, Abilene, Manhattan, Topeka, Kansas City, etc) is more humid, but not obnoxiously so unless there has been recent rain.

Also, if you do end up coming to Kansas, DO NOT go to Lawrence. Its local reputation is as "Portland on the Plains" because for whatever reason all of the crazies got attracted to KU, while sparing all of the other universities (I went to K-State, and I had profs that were openly conservative and mocked commies on a regular basis).

It can still be good to visit because there is a lot of history wrapped up there due to its attachment to the events of Bleeding Kansas (and I am sure the SJW type got attracted partially because of John Browns association to the city), but if you are running from the Leftist, its not a great place to go.

If you don't like heat, stick to mid country (WY/MT/ND/SD/NE/KS).

As a Kansan: HAAAAHAAAAHAAAA! Thats a great joke.

Being more serious for a second, Kansas gets both extremes due to us being centrally located in the continent. It can easily hit the 100's during the summer, with heats so high I know people who used their cars for baking (as in, stick it in the back seat and give it a few hours). Then winter comes and its -20 and snowed 3 inches.

But I have found that that helps to keep the rabble out, since your typical SJW's dont want to have to deal with extreme weather conditions.

Moderates really don't dislike Trump that much.

And in fact, I know a not-insignificant amount of normies who have gone the other way.

They voted for Biden thinking that if they made the Orange Man go away that all of the Left Wing was rioting over and had spent 4 years attacking people at every turn, it would make them calm down. It is why they still voted Republican down the rest of the ticket. And besides, Biden is an old-school Dem and a moderate one, right? He cant be that bad.

Now, two years later, they see that none of that happened. The Left is still screaming about the Orange Man and attacking anyone who doesnt reeee about his mere existence. If anything, the rage and hysteria has escalated. Biden turned out to actually bend to the crazy Left Wingers they hated, and is so hilariously corrupt he makes Nixon look like a Boy Scout (try as the MSM might, they have indeed seen a lot of the Hunter stuff, as well as all of the new shit that has happened). And now, they are finding out all of the institutions and companies they once trusted are infested by the Left Wingers and are being weaponized to terrorize them even further.

So a lot of Normies are turning around, going back to Trump, and saying with bowed head "Perhaps I treated you too harshly."

Yeah, I saw him and Razor talking about it.

The other one that I find very telling is that the usual suspects are saying that HPG only got rid of the polls because and did them again because "they didnt go the way you wanted", and saying that him claiming bots is just "coping" for being proven wrong.

The hatefulness of SJWs never ceases to amaze me. On top of their ability to lie as easily as they breath.

I lucked out in that my circle of friends still treats it like its 1999, and even though we dont agree on everything we are still friends. But that is because my more liberal-inclined friends are anti-SJW still and hate that.

As for the people who do inject it, I really do believe that it is them being miserable and just trying to make everyone else as miserable as they are. But they are so abrasive personality wise they wont make friends, and it just feeds the cycle.

There was a thing I figured out recently going through on the Farms, so buckle in for a little story to back up what I mean for the above. I watch VTubers. Not donating or anything, just like the streams when I am gaming. And the Farms being the Farms, they can find out the true identities of some of these people, and for this particular VTuber who worked for one of the companies, they discovered that she had been a Tankie SJW type, and there had been some worries about what she would do or try to subvert. But now a year or so on, she is hasnt really brought up politics, has largely stayed quite, and she seems to be happy.

The thing that made me realize the thing making these people miserable was a lack of true friendship, was that this VTuber, in one of her QA streams, broke character a little bit like they are allowed to do for those streams. And she talked about how before she joined the company she was depressed, alcoholic, and didnt really have anyone she cared about or visa versa. But after joining, she made friends with some of the other people, her depression went away, and while she still drinks she does it a lot less. While it was obvious not brought up, I have to imagine that she probably moderated somewhat politically as well because of it.

But like I said, a lot of these people (especially on Reddit) are so toxic, they cant make friends, so they just end up stuck in the rut.

Same. I have basically made Reddit into a way to keep up on anime and games I like, and sometimes have low-yield discussions. But if something I am planning on saying is too far outside the hivemind, then I just keep my mouth shut unless I am on KIA1 or KIA2.

Nah, it was very clearly obvious that he was not acting in good faith. So while I thought about it, I eventually just stopped with a "why bother?" Last I saw, he was claiming that he had gotten SWATed by "angry conservatives in this thread" in response to someone actually asking him for proof of the bad things Blaine had supposedly said. To which my reaction (to myself) was along the lines of "Are you actually taking the piss?"

and that these same people went after Tex, one of the nicest guys within the Battletech community, for openly talking to Arch at all.

If one good thing came out of the shitshow with Tex, its that at least he seems to have realized he got played. Because he never really walked back talking with Arch and still says he enjoyed the conversation. And now if he has anyone coming to him trying to make him dance to the SJW tune, his response has always been "Piss off, fucko."

I knew something was up when the original thread about the firing on kai1 was almost immediately infested by an SJW.

Who was claiming to not be.

And claiming that he totally deserved it.

And that all conservatives are racist, sexist, insurrectionist.

And that its literally impossible to be a good person and a conservative.

And that anyone claiming to be a Battletech fan and a conservative is a liar, because conservatives dont enjoy things or have hobbies other than religion (this is not a joke, he actually said that).

And utterly refused to listen to any evidence that he was wrong.

But he is not an SJW and anyone calling him one is a snowflake.

I am just hoping that CGL looks at this whole thing going down, looks at the poll from one of their largest fan accounts showing that the supermajority of fans think this was a bad idea, and say "We made a mistake" and walk it back. But I dont see that happening unless something forces their hand.

Its far more straight forward than that.

Xi built his reputation and power on "saving China from Covid." Which means there can be no Covid. And I mean NOO Covid. And If I see even a hint of it, you better believe I will lock down the entire city and surrounding countryside. What's that? This is just speeding up the worlds industrial firms leaving us for other nations and is speeding up our extreme issues with the economy and banking systems and could destroy the whole system? I Literally! Do Not! Give a shit! I said that China had defeated Covid! So the next time I look, there better be no Covid, or else you will cease to be.

Funny story about two of those bands though. When I first learned of them, I got their nationalities completely, wildly wrong. Specifically, Smash Into Pieces and Starset.

When I first heard SIP, I could have sworn they were from the US. Probably Oregon or Washington just based on the accent of the lead singer. It wasnt until a few albums later that I learned that they were actually actually from Sweden. Although just like many bands from Europe that I listen to, they talked about how they like the US more and enjoy being here. To the point that in one of their newer songs, part of the chorus is "Show'em how we do it down South", even though they arent from the South.

For Starset on the other hand, I swore they were from the UK, because their lead singer sounded similar to some British singers I knew of. Then looking into the bands backstory, it turns out they were actually from Columbus, Ohio.

There is also something to be said that the Marshals are usually too busy doing gangster shit to be the political hitmen of the Cathedral. There may also be something to be said about the fact that they still cultivate the old cowboy mystic and image they are famous for, and that may draw the right kind of people.

The issue for picking out "favorite album" is that I generally enjoy the artist I enjoy, with no real bias toward any of their albums. If I am picking favorites, it is usually favorite songs.

So perhaps not directly answering the question, my favorites are (mostly going by most/favorite songs on said album):

Sabaton (would probably lean toward War to End All War for a single album)

Powerwolf (Sacrament of Sin)

Brothers of Metal (Emblas Saga)

Iron Savior (Unification)

Evergrey (A Heartless Portrait)

Eclipse (Armageddonize)

Smash Into Pieces (Arcadia)

Antti Martikainen (Synthesia)

Beast In Black (Dark Connection)

Starset (Horizons)

George Strait (This man dont miss)

Not only did he take a long shot, he also hit 8 out of 10 shots fired.

Like someone else below said, my man was clearly using some sort of aim-bot.

It is, however, a myth that Californians are turning the state purple. That's immigration from other countries.

Even that is not necessarily true. Texas became slightly more blue in a few elections, but has been rapidly shifting back toward the red direction as of late. On top of vast swaths of the state that have never voted Republican for hundreds of years suddenly doing so.

I can't for the life of me remember where I saw the data now, but there was a study I saw that back up your general points the recent wave of Californians being refugee types, same with New Yorkers. The study found that while both Leftist and Rightist are leaving those two states, their destinations are not the same. Essentially, the breakdown was that Left Wingers leaving Cali and NY were going to places like Oregon, Washington State, and Colorado, while Right Wingers leaving were going to Texas and Florida (with a smattering among smaller states).

I think that the risk of colonization comes in the form of Californian corporations moving themselves into other territory, and taking their horde of villaiens, vassals, and human pets with them to colonize blue cities in red states like Austin.

As it turns out, they are discovering a new problem on that particular front. Namely, their potential colonist dont want to go. For a prominent example, Disney has been moving a lot of its corporate infrastructure from Cali to Florida. Officially, its because of "better business policy", but considering the types currently running the company you know they wouldnt complain if it altered the political landscape. As proof of that, they wanted to move a lot of their people from Cali to follow these jobs. They even built housing and amenities that were tailor made for what your average bougie Californian would demand.

But they found out after they had already moved the jobs that these people were pissed. They utterly refused to move to that "fascist state" run by "the blood-soaked Death Sentence" (making DeSantis sound far too badass there), and demanded the jobs come back to Cali. In fact, they even turned the tables and started demanding Disney just shut down their stuff in Florida and move it to Cali, Oregon, Colorado, anywhere but Florida.

And at least from what it sounds like from people in the know, Disney is kind of stuck. Because they dont want to hire the likely more conservative local talent, but their vassals are starting a riot over the idea of having to move.

And it couldnt have happened to a better group of people.

More importantly, they are all in an almost uniform line, which just shows off the accuracy these rockets are capable of.

I remember seeing one of those leaked phone calls from a Russian soldier who was on the receiving end of a HIMARS attack, and he said it was like rockets landing on the same coin.

Games are dying? Could have fooled me, considering that I am still spoiled for choice on new games. AAA games are dying, though, I will give you that. But much like how you have the likes of Eric July showing up the comic industry, you can have other people making their own games showing up the AAA studios. Except the indie game scene is even larger than the indie comic scene. And at least from my view has a majority of them being people either politically neutral and/or just interested in a good game with reasonable narratives.

The bigger issues from what I have seen is that 1) The Texas Appeals Court has been pretty far behind due to Covid bullshit, so he was behind a ton of different cases, and 2) the judge in his original case was so bizarre in his ruling that its difficult to even figure out where to start. And this is before we get into the fact that the laws in Texas were changed and the culture around being able to sue for defamation has also changed.

On the plus side, the people who defamed him are also in pretty poor financial shape and are just kind of treading water, while Vic is still living life as reasonably as he always did.

It takes skill to fail this hard.

And on a side note, this is why I have been adamant that you cant beat "Get woke, go broke" forever. You can use all kinds of tricks to prop up the money and try to keep it going...but eventually someone is going to run out of money to keep the music playing. And losing trillions in a few months will do that to you.

I think it's the tractors and their improper and overuse which inflamed the dustbowl and actually helped to make the droughts even worse, if not cause them by preventing normal rainfall from occurring thanks to the dust storms.

Having grown up in territory that got hit by the dustbowl and growing up hearing about what went down from people who actually lived it, I wouldnt put it up to tractors. At least, not by themselves. Tractors had already been a staple of farming for almost 80 years in these parts by the time the dustbowl happened.

The cycle basically went like this:

  • Farmers in the area were growing more crops because they could make absolutely hilarious amounts of money selling it in Europe after WW1. This continued until about the 1920's, when Europe started to rebound.

  • Farmers made all kinds of loans, bought land and equipment, and made promises off of the idea that the prices would stay high.

  • Europe started to rebound and the early pangs of what would become the Great Depression started to emerge, and prices fell.

  • Farmers drastically increased their acreage and planting to compensate for the decreased cost of food. This included tilling new land, plowing fields that should have been left fallow, and pushing fields to their limits.

  • This causes further price drops due to excess product, causing farmers to get into a cycle of making the above point worse. When they finally ran out of fields and room to expand, farmers started cutting down trees to make the fields even bigger.

As it turns out, those trees were windbreaks, and had been there because it kept large wind gust from blowing onto the fields. Then a drought hit, the land turned extremely dry, and then windy season hit. This caused all of that dry soil, now without windbreaks, to be blow up, and create the dust storms. Then the dust storms became a self-sustaining machine where the soil remained dry, so it caused storms, which further dried the soil. It took a wet year before it finally fixed the situation. And people started to replant the cut trees and return to the old size fields.

Its still stuck in limbo last I checked. So odds are his appeal will be denied since it has been almost 3 years now. Which is unfortunate, but it seems like he is starting to get his foot back in the door with people who realize it would be stupid to leave good talent just sitting on the table for no real reason.
