Yesterday, an Alaskan 737 Max 9 had a depressurization event leaving Portland.
The Max 9 has mid-plane set of emergency exits just behind the wings, to meet the exit requirements for the densest seating configuration. However, Alaskan's planes don't use maximum seating, so on this particular plane the emergency exit had a plug installed instead.
The plug is not as strong as an emergency exit door frame. It failed and was blown off, taking with it that segment of the interior wall. Fortunately, there were no severe injuries. The plane is almost certainly repairable. The FAA has grounded all 737 Max with door plugs until they can be inspected for pressure fatigue.
can i not already project my morals unto people already?
Yes, but the result will never be more than kratocracy.
Its a distinction between:
- "The utter certainty that there will never be an end to violence because it's all against all."
- "The unlikely but theoretically possible future where there could be an end to violence because one moral (one divine) has prevailed and all (who remain) abide by it."
As long as it's literally just you versus me, the victor will only be you or me, and there will always be more of us to continue that fight.
While I doubt Islam's ability to deliver peace (given that they couldn't go one generation without finding a reason to fight amongst themselves), they do at least have the problem framed correctly: that there can only be peace when all are united around one consistent morality.
To be blunt with you Blue, I don't believe you're grasping the nuance of the point I'm making. You're a caveman; you see a problem, you hit the problem with a stick until it's no longer a problem; and that will work for you as long as the problem doesn't have a bigger stick. You don't care what history will say about your stick swinging and how it ended; and you certainly don't care about putting an end to all the stick swinging.
Calling it Hawking Radiation was as much of a dubious honor as putting Jackson on the $20 bill. In the end, his contributions to the conversation amounted to little more than bringing attention to what the Russians had already figured out.
ARIA is a manga series from the early 2000's set on a far future Mars that is so inundated with water from terraforming that the only inhabited city is Neo Venezia, and the main character is a girl named Akari who immigrates there to become a gondola helmsman. In manga circles its often mentioned along with Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou (Record of a Yokohama Shopping Trip) as a story that takes a fuck long time to go basically nowhere at a walking pace.
Right, so... I am in Wisconsin. I know the mood in Wisconsin. Trump is going to win Wisconsin in 2024.
So don't sit there and shit out this stupid doom and gloom story when even progressive news says Trump is leading in 6 battlegrounds.
All you're doing is farming downvotes from people who are sick of your negativity.
Do you live in Wisconsin? No? Then don't tell me how you think the vote is going to go in Wisconsin. Trump lost Wisconsin because of COVID.
And that's a horse I won't stop kicking. Trump's COVID response destroyed Trump. It was a "this guy sucks" election, and it was true. Trump was fucked in Wisconsin the second his COVID policy meant no Packers tailgating.
And this is ALSO a "this guy sucks" election.
What happened to you OTP? You used to be a lot better than this.
How did the BLM riots work out for the Democrats?
It cost them downballot races in 2021 for various city and district attorney positions. Seattle elected their first republican in who knows how long. Similar situation in Long Island.
And you think voting is zero sum.
It is not necessary to flip voters from Biden to Trump. It's only necessary to flip them from Biden to didn't-bother-to-vote.
This is a "this guy sucks" election cycle (ironically just like 2020 was), and for that to work all you need is a LOT of really bad news that can be dumped on the president's doorstep.
Your predictions are juvenile. There are four things that Biden cannot stop:
- Texas dumping immigrants on the northern cities.
- Israel giving the news a continuous stream of dead Palestinians for the next six months before just straight up annexing Gaza.
- Ukraine begging for more money to accomplish fuck all.
- Housing prices remaining high while boomers stubbornly refuse to die off in the numbers necessary to bring housing prices down.
Trump's "airport stop" campaign method makes it pretty easy to play the whole table. There's no reason not to hit everything when you're going to be out-appearing your opponent many times over.
This election is a referendum on Biden's economy, and I believe there's no way Trump can lose in that regard. There is literally nothing Biden can do to solve the immediate economic problems which he's being dinged for, which is that housing is too expensive and wages aren't keeping pace with perceived inflation.
Just sayin, any system where you can punch a guy so hard their blood pops out and becomes a slippng hazard, and where shooting someone can make all their carried ammo cook off like grenades, and where casting a spell can cause a copy of yourself to appear and try to kill you...
Has already thought of all the things people are trying to get out of the experience.
It damn well should.
