There were a couple of Windows 95 games that I played a lot that I don't see mentioned very often.

One was called Terratopia. It was a point and click adventure game, definitely made for kids, but hey, I was a kid. It had some environmental propaganda in it, but I liked solving the puzzles.

Another was a top down, isometric gunship shooter called Fire Fight. I remember liking the music a lot.

That one was a lot of fun. I worked at a mom and pop used game shop back in the early 2000's and checked that game out. Beat it in like 3 days and never touched it again, but I remember the fusion system being a blast.

If you wanted to venture in to the cesspool that is Reddit, there is a sub called tipofmyjoystick where people answer prompts like that to identify older games.

My friends and I used to play this for hours. You could have fights last 10+ minutes each or 10 seconds.

What you're saying about progression is on point. I did not even know you could progress further until one day I picked up to play, got as far as the guy with the gun (Katze maybe?), and died instantly. I freaked out because that had never happened before.

Tekken has been better since Tekken 3 came out. SF peaked at SF2 Turbo.

Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection on the PS3 is the best console fighting game ever made. Fight me. 😎

If you really want to play First Departure, the PSP version isn't a bad way to play it at all. PPSSPP does a really nice job with it.

I don't get down with this genre much, but I have spent an absurd amount of time playing No Man's Sky.

The Bloody fuckin Nine. I'm glad to see someone bring up those characters. Sand Glokta especially is so well-written.

I was subbed to Second Wind 'cause I thought, "Oh cool, more independent media." I saw that this session was live and immediately wondered if that was a hideous woman or a hideous man dressed like a woman. It took about 3 seconds to tell from the voice. It's a shame.

Turn-based RPGs with high polish and a more serious tone. More like Lost Odyssey. The Trails and Persona games are fine, but they're also over the top anime-like experiences. If Final Fantasy XVI had about half the cut scenes with the Trails battle system, I think I would love it.

Have you played 13 Sentinels? It's kind of a visual novel/mech strategy game. Very cool story, very fun battles.

Eve is a tempting mistress. My main turned 16 years old this year. I haven't played in about 18 months, but there's an offer for 7 days of free Omega out there. Hm.

There's a list of them - you can't show a 30 round magazine (I think anyway, Brandon Herrera likes to point out that his magazines are pinned), you can't show assembly or building a firearm (nothing instructional about assembly or part swapping), they can't even show screwing on a suppressor. Silly little things like that.

I might buy this if YouTube didn't already have algorithms in place to solve this problem. If you watch a MrGunsnGear video on YouTube, you're going to get an ad for concealed carry holsters, prepping gear, or something like USCCA. They can already appropriately target ads for their videos. The type of censorship for gun content has nothing to do with being advertiser friendly; it satisfies their political bias.

Ah okay. I guess I didn't stick around long enough to find out. It was just immersion breaking I think. One of them was even deaf if I remember correctly.

The first episode of TWD is one of my favorite hours of TV ever. They made some comical gun mistakes, and Kirkman blatantly ripped off 28 Days Later, but it was still well done. I enjoyed it for a while, put up with it through all of the Negan stuff, and noped out when they got rid of the main character to introduce a group of perfectly-groomed, super diverse survivors.

Gosh, there's that word they love, "reasonable."

Be reasonable, get the vaccine for everyone's safety!

Be reasonable , nobody needs an assault rifle with 30 magazine clips!

Be reasonable, bug protein is just protein!

It's easy enough to make your own game console these days. An off lease SFF PC off of eBay, a low profile graphics card that consumes 75w or less, a solid state drive, Bluetooth adapter, your favorite controller, a license for BigBox, and a bunch of emulators - the world is your oyster, and you might spend $600 on the "higher" end, much less if you don't care about PS3 and 360 emulation or newer PC games. The setup is half the fun, and being able to switch from Chrono Trigger to Crazy Taxi to original Dead Space to whatever is satisfying.

Echoes of the Living has a demo out now. I've played other classic Resident Evil clones, but this one nails the vibe better than any of the other ones so far. I'm really looking forward to the full release.

Eternights is a fun one. It's an action RPG with the Persona-like social elements set in South Korea during an apocalypse. The combat reminds me of Ys VIII, a little less fluid, but good nonetheless. Some reviews say that it's very easy - normal difficulty is quite challenging for me, but I'm also not great at those games. I bought it on PC because I heard that there were performance issues on console.

There are a few rough edges, but other areas have a surprising amount of polish for this being an Indy. I'm only a couple hours in but recommend it highly.

It's a decent game. Grab a used copy from a local game shop if you can, should be cheap. The side quests are all copy/paste of one another, but mechanically, it's on point.
