What's supppsed to be the advantage of a console over a computer + a compatible controler again?
There is a ridiculously large catalogue of good games that can now run on a sub-$1000 dollars laptop with integrated graphics. Either free of the DRM cancer, or patched free of it.
It's easy enough to make your own game console these days. An off lease SFF PC off of eBay, a low profile graphics card that consumes 75w or less, a solid state drive, Bluetooth adapter, your favorite controller, a license for BigBox, and a bunch of emulators - the world is your oyster, and you might spend $600 on the "higher" end, much less if you don't care about PS3 and 360 emulation or newer PC games. The setup is half the fun, and being able to switch from Chrono Trigger to Crazy Taxi to original Dead Space to whatever is satisfying.
