Right wingers older than 40-45 or so simply can't grasp that leftists, black people, and first/second generation immigrants are never going to be anything but what they are. Even a lot of right wing guys under 40 have trouble really internalizing it.

That's only in relatively melanated and urban parts of the US too, in parts where the demographics are still in line with the founding stock and enough distance from cities you can still find unmanned farm stands.
