How does Sony still have money? I always hear that all their non-Playstation divisions are doing poorly, and that even that is making less money than it used to. And yet they're still able to purchase a company as huge as Kadokawa?
It's known for having a few interesting ideas cribbed from better sci-fi authors, executed poorly, and all dragged down by Margaret Atwood's trademark purple prose.
There are significant plot holes and timeline errors if you look at the story as a whole.
Apparently a lot of people do like Attwood, but I've never met one, who wasn't an absolute brainlet of a woman.
I think Heinlein said it better.
"Violence is the Supreme Authority, from which, all other Authority is Derived."
Even Team America said it better.
"See, there's three kinds of people: dicks, pussies, and assholes. Pussies think everyone can get along, and dicks just want to fuck all the time without thinking it through. But then you got your assholes, Chuck. And all the assholes want us to shit all over everything! So, pussies may get mad at dicks once in a while, because pussies get fucked by dicks. But dicks also fuck assholes, Chuck. And if they didn't fuck the assholes, you know what you'd get? You'd get your dick and your pussy all covered in shit!"
But real men get this on an instinctual level. There are just certain behaviors that merit a violent response, real men know this. It's just that these day's we've delegated that response to the state, letting everyone else pretend this isn't the case and pretend they're more moral than the real men.
The Paradox of Tolerance, is just a way of handwaving away reality. Real "Tolerance" as they describe it doesn't exist. There are certain behaviors that cannot be accepted. Simple as. People just fight over what behaviors those are.
It's not even just Men, their whole base is crumbling. The Democrat diehards are grasping. Saw a big thread about how older married women must be disowned.
They're starting to realize their group of political allies is shrinking, but they have no idea what to do other than demonize all the demographics that are swinging right.
He's from Canada. I don't know if he's ever been to the Canadian North, but if so he's going to laugh at most of those concerns. Americans really don't understand how deserted the part of Canada that is more than 100 km from the American border is.
Also Gas occasionally hits 8$ a gallon here.
A Dark Lord vs a Mysterious Elf Queen?
Or are we in Harry Potter, and we have to choose between Sirius Black - a man who the media claims is evil, and Dolores Umbridge - a government installed bureaucrat who claims that everything is under control and all those problems you see and dangerous things are all lies.
Or we could at least pretend to be functional adults and have nuanced political takes that don't hinge on references to popular fantasy books.
Increasing unrest where people protest, then get arrested. Nothing major, but enough that it's too big to hide.
Things will get continue to get worse as people notice the UK style prison system, where otherwise ordinary right wing protestors rot for months, while violent felons are released within hours of getting caught.
Maybe there's some isolated pockets of violence... Maybe.
Some Republican Governors will talk a big talk, then do nothing.
Global unrest increases as American hegemony wanes. Kamala throws tantrums everytime another world leader treats her like the joke she is.
Russia, China, and whoever the fuck else feels like it will use this opportunity to make power plays. Expect bitching and moaning from the EU before it evaporates into infighting. Large chunks of Africa will probably become part of China. Might be some genocide there... Probably no WWIII, Europeans don't have the balls. Lots of Sabre rattling, but ultimately alliances will fall apart under pressure. Maybe some nukes will fly, but it will be against targets that ultimately, no one is willing to stick their neck out for.
A sort of gloom will fall over the country as people start to accept that things aren't going to get better, not anytime soon.
The country slowly crumbles over the next 20 years. Basic infrastructure is no longer taken for granted.
Things begin to look more and more like the late Soviet Union. Everything is cheap and nasty, the cities are increasingly grey places devoid of beauty
Violence and Criminality. Not political violence, it's just that most people have no investment in society anymore, and have no reason to believe the police will be competent or motivated enough to intervene.
Suddenly the Amish lifestyle is a lot more attractive, so expect ballooning numbers of them, and various copycat communities. There's a good chance these will be stomped down on for being to successful and not sharing their wealth with the cities. (Which have mostly turned into the shitty part of San Fransisco combined with the shitty part of Detroit.)
On the plus side though, skyrocketing food prices will solve Americas obesity problem, and convince a lot of the immigrants to leave.
Sad thing is, this one isn't that bad compared to the sorts that typically get posted here.
I click on a post like this, and expect something revolting. Instead I am slightly relieved by seeing a woman who's apperance I would describe as merely "unfortunate".
What a sad state of affairs.
Same, first time I've ever had to use the "Don't recommend videos from this channel" button.
Honestly, he just doesn't seem very bright. He's not indoctrinated, so he was able to point it out when the emperor has no clothes, but nothing he says hasn't been said way earlier and way more thoughtfully by others.
At his core he is a normie of lackluster intelligence, he isn't capable of true independent thought on more than a basic level. He will do what he's told.
That's bitcoins fundamental problem. It's value is entirely derived from people believing they may be able to exchange it for a large amount of fiat currency.
At least with fiat, even if a large amount of it's value is arbitrary, you still need it to pay taxes, which guarantees that everyone values it, at least a little.
I think most people agree the series peaked before gen 6.
Gen 5ers praise the post game content there, but I find it the breaking point for me where too many of the designs didn't "feel" like pokemon anymore. Though, they a stiil far better than all the furry bullshit that came after. I give people who consider it the best a pass.
For me gen 4 was the best. The physical/special split added a lot to the gameplay. On the other hand, the interface was the slowest it ever was and stealth rock and weather were overcentralizing. Still, I find these issues less severe than some that other gens had.
Gen 2 also stands out, due to its focus on refining the formula of Gen 1. It lets you experience the classic pokemon formula without the severe gen 1 jank. Some of the best experiences to be had on the original gameboy.
The fact of the matter is, no one thinks pokemon is at its best right now, except small children (and people so easily swayed by marketing they may as well be children.) We debate whether the game was last great 15 years ago, or 20. These days, the gameplay changes are gimmicks, the worlds feel smaller and smaller, and the increasingly humanoid pokemon designs feel like they're pandering to furries, and make the whole capturing and making them fight mechanic feel more unpleasant. Modern pokemon feels like a one of those monster catcher copycat games that were so popular in the 90s somehow got the official license.
We had the remains of an old apple orchard, parts of an old wall.
The only one that turned up any "remains" was the one that was known to locals and just a graveyard that had fallen into disrepair due to neglect. The wooden markers had rotted away, and it wasn't a "mass grave".
Oh wow, two games made by the same company with the same artists a few years apart have a similar art style. What a shocking revelation! Tell us more wise sage! /s
Or you could place a timeline of games in the same series on a timeline and do one to one comparisons of sprites or CGs. Or at least games made by the same company.
If you think a game that came out in 2004 is in anyway reflective of the current state of the industry, you're more demented than Biden.
Furthermore, you're criticizing games that are classics. Games that are old and yet fondly remembered as influential to the medium as a whole in spite of their derpy art style. At this point, they've stood the test of time. Everyone knows they look a little dumb, but the hold up, and are charming because of it. Furthermore, the art style is so distant from the current state of the industry that you may as well be complaining about how all the kids are int disco these days.
You are not saying anything insightful or meaningful. You're either retarded, or have such a skewed perspective of time that I expect you to start complaining about how you can't smoke on airplanes anymore next.
Take me to your time machine so we can go back to 2005.
4 random examples and the most recent is from 20 years ago? This is weaksauce OP.
I don't necessarily disagree with you, but surely you can make your point more convincingly than this.
All this communicates is "I do not like the art style Key Visual Arts used in their visual novels 20-25 years ago." Which wasn't a novel sentiment even when I saw it posted all over 4chan more than a decade ago.
Like the other guy said, if you had focused on remakes and otherwise tried to make better 1 to 1 comparisons, this would be more than "Old Man yells at 20 year old visual novel."
Honestly? They're too busy starting twitter fights and watching 5 second tiktok brainrot for something like this.
Expecting the "Modern audience" to sit down and watch something for more than half an hour straight is incredibly optimistic.
Anyone who cares about long form content enough to sit down and watch something like this, cares enough to identify shit storytelling.
"People" or Germans specifically?
