Most of that doesn't bother me, except for two options.

  1. Content warnings (and blurring the violence) for obvious reasons. It's literally a game about bloody dismemberment. If you need violence and gore hidden, you're playing the wrong game. It's like choosing to play Super Mario with a crippling fear of mushrooms. And warning about these things in advance ruins 90% of the horror: it's supposed to be unexpected.

  2. Menu narration. The fuck you doing playing a video game if you're blind enough to need narration of the damn menu?

At least it's all supposedly opt-in.

At least six people are charged with domestic terrorism related to the riots.

They were identified as Ivan Ferguson, 23, of Nevada, 20-year-old Graham Evatt of Decatur, Georgia, Nadja Geier, 24, of Nashville, Tennessee; Madeleine Feola, 22, of Spokane, Washington; Francis Carrol, 22, of Kennebunkport, Maine; and Emily Murphy, 37, of Grosse Isle, Michigan.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that almost all of them are from not just out of town, but from the other side of the fucking country.

That was one of the few essays I've ever read start to finish. And maybe the only one that was actually interesting.

We are also making a donation to the Lilith fund

Was this fund named after the Christian demon of female evil by happenstance or on purpose?

Since when? My entire family uses one account across 4 households. I haven't heard a peep about a crackdown.

That is almost definitely the source, thank you!

I once heard something that stuck with me, though sadly I don't remember the source (edit: probably Penn Gillette per u/What_password). It was on the topic of someone mentioning he hated Christians trying to get him to come to church or talk about God.

The other guy, also not Christian, said, "If I thought I knew the way to eternal life and neverending bliss after death, I'd be an asshole not to try to get other people to join the ride."

I have a feeling they vote straight Dem down the ticket regardless of what they call themselves.

Anecdotal, but maybe something to a similar degree is happening everywhere. In 2020, after I moved to a new house, a dozen eggs was $0.70. That's about $0.06 per egg.

I went to the store last Friday. The same grocery store, selling the same store brand carton of a dozen eggs.

$4.50! FOUR DOLLARS AND FIFTY FUCKING CENTS! For twelve eggs! $0.38 per egg! That's almost a 600% increase!

Niche just copies gematsu for 90% of their content, so skip the middleman and just go there instead.

If a game depends on or builds off from a previous game, it will generally make that clear and be titled something like "Final Fantasy VII: The Second Coming" or whatever. If you stick to numbered titles without subtitles, you can feel safe knowing that it is completely unrelated to other games.

The original is a perfectly fine starting point, though a bit simplistic. 6 is widely regarded as the best of the pixel era, and is many people's favorite overall. 7 was many people's first entry point and is overrated, but certainly not bad. Honestly, just start with any of them.

Except for 2. Don't play that abomination.

I would recommend the Ciaphas Cain series. Entertaining, at times humorous, but also knows how to create drama when necessary. Plus, Cain isn't written to be some sort of super protagonist; he always wins, but it's very often due equally to good luck as to his skill or tactical cowardice.

I read the first book in Gaunt's Ghosts and remember vehemently hating it. I just don't remember exactly why, except that I found the main character unsufferable. That's not a very good review, though, so feel free to ignore my hatred.

I suppose all the children that ended up being born in the past, families of 7 or 8 or even more, when men went to work and women just played housewife doing almost nothing but cooking, cleaning, and housemaking, those children must all have been products of domestic rape where the woman had no sexual appetite for the man she was cooking and cleaning for.

Fuck me they actually probably think that's true.

Turning to Neuralink’s vision work, he added that “even if they have never seen before, we are confident they could see.”

Some poor soul is literally going to start seeing manmade horrors beyond his comprehension.

From the article:

Yes, so you can honestly work multiple work-at-home jobs at different times & days,” she says. “I would DEFINITELY not recommend working all 4 full time at the same exact time.

Well then

a) you're not making $60/hour, you're still just making $15/hour and just extending your workweek

b) this is not working jobs "at the same time," this is called "moonlighting." There's a long history to it and most employers don't have a problem with it as long as it doesn't affect the hours they've set aside for you

I can't wait to going back to paying $200 for an "up to date" textbook with no noticeable changes from the prior version other than changing the numbers in exercises so that people who bought an older version get fucked in the ass come time for homework.
