You guys don't get it, we're not LITERALLY pagan because our only transcendental value is saving the planet. Mother Nature is a useful SYMBOL, we don't believe in Her per se, just as a way to convey our unquestionable duty to the climate and environment. Humans have no special place on this planet, therefore it is imperative that we use all of our reason (which came from nowhere) and economic capacity (which was built on imperialism) to save the planet, and this makes sense to us. In fact, fewer humans would be better for the Planet, even though we don't believe in some sort of non-human consciousness that would benefit. Things would just be better for everything. Which is ultimately meaningless but necessary to the point of human suffering for its sake.

Hell, even any man who hasn't had one. Basically, any man in California at all. And, to be honest, not just California. I live in a state that leans red and I'm confident a woman I've never met before could ruin my life with a random accusation. Even if I never get charged with anything, and even if my core friends and most of my family backs me up, I'm confident something like that could strongly impact my life in a negative way.

Yeah the typesetting skills in some of those fan groups put official localizations to shame. I understand people wanting to throw money at the "official" version when there is an easy way to do so, but personally the effort and quality on official anime localizations are so piss poor compared to groups of dudes doing it for free as a passion project in their mom's basement in 2005 that it is hard for me to conclude that they deserve anything at all. Anyone who wants to support the show can buy the source material if they want; more probably goes to them than if you pay a monthly sub to Crunchyroll anyway.

I owe so much to those old fansubs. The way they would sub the openings and endings with the Japanese, romanized Japanese, and English translation really gave me a great boost starting learning back in the day. Official localizations don't tend to do that now but it used to be common.

I see, fair enough. If/when season 3 comes out, it will be bonkers if the studio maintains the level of quality, so I would recommend considering to give it another shot then. Rudy's progress is pretty gradual and the volumes season 3 would adapt are perhaps the best in the series.

I heard the second season was trash though. I loved the original back when it aired but still haven't seen the second season.

Mushoku Tensei hands down. I will never forget binging the audiobooks in August 2020. Absolute blast. When season 3 comes and adapts LN volume 15 I can finally die happy.

Also Eminence in Shadow was fabulous. S2 next season if I recall. Isekai Ojisan was way better than I thought. Ended up buying the manga.

EDIT: I didn't know there was an SAO game. Is it good?

What is so controversial in this post that warrants the downvotes? I live in Ohio and the contrast when crossing the river is pretty stark. Less so going into Kentucky, but the difference is there. Would be more productive if the people who downvoted came in with counterpoints.

Depends what you consider to be mainstream. Shin Sekai Yori is awesome, but might be mainstream enough? Depends if you mean mainstream among normies or mainstream among people who watch a lot of anime.

If you mean the latter, I enjoyed Tsukuyomi Moon Phase recently. The vast majority probably won't really like it, but I went in with sub zero expectations and the atmosphere it created was something I liked to the point where it's gotten me to read the manga, so that's gotta be worth something.

Even on plebbit, the hive of scum and and villainy that it is, wasn't freaking out about the Mushoku Tensei episode this past week from what I saw. You had to get pretty deep and into downvoted comments to find it.

Yes, actually, it would, because I get severe second hand embarrassment when you accuse others of acting like leftists when you in that very comment are acting like a deranged leftist. "Retarded," while unoriginal, is a considerable improvement over exposing yourself that badly.

Maga cultists

Because as we all know, immediately labeling anyone who disagrees with you as some super radical and extreme entity isn't page number one in the handbook of leftist tactics.

There's a lot to unpack there, but honestly people need to push back against the very concept of "hate crimes" even being a legitimate thing in the first place. It's very rapidly approaching something I would consider to be completely normalized even among normie conservatives.

Yes and no. Yes this is more in line with what people want. No, DeSantis would not resurrect his dead campaign if he started doing this. It would very blatantly be an act and not genuine; not going to bring anyone who has already been convinced he's a swamp dweller back on board.

Pretty sure he was "convicted" partially in that sexual assault case where the lady based her assault story off of an episode of Law and Order. Perhaps that is what they are talking about? But I'm pretty sure that is a civil case and not one of the indictments being discussed.

And I'm not an expert on legal jargon but I doubt the word "convicted" even applies when losing a civil judgement.

1.2 million would still probably be way too excessive. They literally dished out a verdict over 1000x more harsh than what is reasonable to send a message. This is a leftist judiciary in action.

Not going to waste my time commenting on every bit of lunacy here, but this specific one stood out to me:

it wasn't even legal in some places to grow your own food

Almost exclusively a problem caused by the overreach of busy body bureaucrats and Karens. Can't grow your own food, that might be an eyesore! Can't keep chickens, what if they're loud??? In what world is this a problem caused by the so-called right wing that they prop up as the cause of all their problems?

More of a causal link between this raid and her death than Chauvin's knee and George Floyd's death but I know we live in clown world and that would never be acknowledged in court.

Perhaps a cope but, at least in Ohio's case, we can still win in November. This was merely to raise the bar for the vote percentage they needed to pass their abortion shit. If Issue 1 fails with 55% or less no votes, we absolutely have a fighting chance still. A lot of well meaning people were tricked into voting no on Issue 1, but that will be a lot harder when abortion is directly the issue at hand. At the very least it will be a closer vote; whether it will be enough we will see.

I had thought it was a lost cause, but a recent poll I saw actually had Yes being ahead by a point which shocked me. I know polling is dubious, but in my experience for Ohio, polling bias tends to be in the other direction by a few points.

I heard about the abortion measures in other states, but were these all constitutional amendments? And my understanding is that in at least some of the cases, the wording was intentionally misleading and the pro life people were terrible at getting the word out to combat that. Also, this would theoretically give a blank check for 9 month abortions.

So I think all of the following would be in favor of it failing in November:

-It is a constitutional amendment and not just a law. Some people may look askance to enshrining abortion into the constitution even if they don't really care about it that much (like myself)

-The wording is pretty clear in my opinion. One readthrough takes about a minute and it is pretty clear what you need to vote to get which outcome

-There is a distinct lack of any limits within the measure. Even people who are lukewarm on abortion are usually not okay with 9 month shit

But some of that relies on voters not being retarded and actually reading what they're voting on. Very possible for it to pass still, but if issue 1 next week only fails by 5 points or so, I would be pretty optimistic. Worried, but optimistic.
