I've been following this saga closely, and for once I have to give Josh some props. In the beginning I tried to reach him to offer some help but it didn't go anywhere until he found the same idea on his own later. But when the Tier 1 ISPs went to bat against him I legitimately thought he was done. Bouncing back from that probably cost way too much money, but he seems to be clawing his way back and the troons are deleting tweets and going into hiding like they never ran this campaign. He may very well have turned this around and taken the W here, and that's a boon for the entire internet.

Some of us are making an attempt at it. The big problem is a combination of governments tacitly allowing illegal attacks on lawful websites that they just don't like (nobody is gonna investigate the DDoS attacks against KF and no one will ever be prosecuted for it) and there being a near monopoly on open market DDoS prevention. On our site we came up with our own traffic distribution ideas that provide a pseudo-DDoS mitigation effort - basically mini cloudflare, but its relatively expensive to operate. A few hundred dollars a month just for one site, not including costs of the site itself. And if we REALLY get slamma-jamma'd it would get even pricier as we scale it up. Josh apparently has a similar idea, but he's going to run into predictable problems that his model doesn't account for. Namely what do you do when your subnet gets blackhole'd by cucked upstream network providers and backbone peers. We're working on a peer-to-peer alternative that may help, and allow us to help other sites too, but people are going to have to get used o the idea of paying more money if you want free speech. This whole thing is a backdoor Shitlord Tax and the troons are the tax collectors.
I saved a retail business years ago that fell for this meme. A big corpo (big for this area) opened a new chain of stores catering to women and "families" and they were all failing. They brought me in as a regional expert to try and salvage the situation. I ran the numbers and what I found was that, as the CEO had said to me, women were in fact the fastest growing part of the market for the past 4 years. But when I looked hard and shook off the bullshit, what I saw was that women had expanded from being <1% of the market to about 3.5%. So the growth rate was very high, but they were still a maximum of 4% of the fucking market. And these guys had been tailoring their entire business model around catering to them at the expense of the 96% of the market that were MEN. The assumption was "ah men like this stuff anyway, they'll still show up just for the product even if the presentation is safe, sterile, and women-friendly"
No, no they fucking didn't. I went through that place with a fire axe and reoriented everything for a better male experience. It took 18 months and butting heads with feminist middle management, but I got HR on my side and turned that business from being a 30k/mo loss for the company to a moneymaker.

I don't know all the details, but Vordrak has butted heads with KF for years. Enough so that the rumbles were heard even around the imageboard's neck of the woods. I'm indifferent to KF's existence. They're a gossip site that by itself is relatively harmless (basically e-celeb Gawker on a smaller scale) but there are malicious individuals and groups who use it as a catalog and a convenient resource for doxing/swatting and such. But KF has no control over that and can't be blamed for it, and you don't nuke a thing that normal people use just because bad guys also use it for awful purposes. Josh himself is an asshole and I don't like him much because of the pump and dump he pulled on 8chan years ago with the promise of new software. But this deplatforming shit has GOT to STOP.
Whether you love or hate KF, the power for unelected corporate nobodies to band together to rip sites off the Internet is something that needs to be opposed at every turn. You're gonna be next, the first time you say something objectionable - or you piss off some lunatic who is willing to claim you did and the powers that be opt to believe them unquestioningly. This conflict goes way beyond KF hosting assholes and asshole content. If we don't stand up to this in the short term, then in the long term the Internet is fucking finished.

Former whale here. I played Commander obsessively for about 8 years, played Modern for two years, and could buy a nice car if I sold all my decks. Magic is garbage now. This might get a bit long, but here we go.
So starting in about 2015 WotC began to get more and more woke. The storylines on their website started to take a socjus bent with a lot of "diverse" writers and "diverse" characters that made little sense in the setting. They started to ship gays into the storyline. In early 2016 a clique of literal SJW trannies started orbiting WotC's social media presence. Bloggers, journos, small gaming channels, and some of the more "diverse" (read bottom rung) pro players wormed their way to the company's ear due to Mark Rosewater being a literal cuck with a literal Tumblr. This same clique then pushed tons of fellatio material for WotC on places like the official MtG subreddit, and became even more ingratiated with the company. One excellent example of this filth is a blog called, unironically, "Hipsters of the Coast" and one of their flagship writers, a TDS stricken tranny named Jess Stirba who left the site to become an ANTIFA activist. Yes, really.
When Trump got elected, this clique went nuts and their influence began to have more and more impact on WotC. The company started chasing the "whore's gold" of untapped SJW market at the expense of their existing fanbase. Among other things this lead to a split in their subreddit and the creation of r/freemagic after thousands of people got banned for muhsoggyknees, Rosewater himself embraced intersectionality and when called out for creating cards and characters just to tick socjus boxes replied "some boxes need to be ticked" to the response of thousands of upvotes. It has changed everything, from player bans to online conduct to what kind of sleeves you can use and the art on your playmat, to what kind of decorations a card store can display. For me the final straw was the recent banning of several classic cards due to "racist" artwork or name connotations, like the cards "Jihad" and "Invoke Prejudice", the latter of which I actually owned a 400 dollar copy of. Since I only played it in Commander I wasn't initially concerned, but when the Commander Rules Committee came out and banned the same list of cards "in solidarity" with Black Lives Matter it was the final straw.
