Abbot looks to be facing (at least) two solid primary contenders. My only hope is that they don't end up weakening each other enough to secure Abbot a win in the (presumptive) primary runoff, and that they can have a strong enough base in the general to prevent some lefty wacko from getting the position (that would probably doom the state, and likely the country.)

I didn't call it a stunt to belittle it, I called it a stunt to belittle the person that pulled it. As I said these people are demented and have no business being public servants.

As an aside, I think that the pro-life movement is one of the few on the right that (by their nature) has had to not only take leftism seriously, but has had to accept and understand exactly how evil leftism is, and still goes about fighting it (often, if not always, successfully) through essentially entirely peaceful means. I don't know whether I'd consider that to be the best solution (after all, if abortion is murder, and you know who the murderers are, allowing them to continue to murder is morally questionable), but it is one of the few things that could possibly convince me that there is a political solution to our current societal problems, at least at some scale. You aren't going to reprogram the demented left overnight, or even in a generation, but you might be able to take away some of their institutional power, and perhaps convince others of their evil by forcing them to publicly state such demented positions.

So long as the volumes make sense to read individually, I'd suggest starting with one volume and then allowing people to take a breather and read something lighter (or choose to read the second volume if they like). I personally hate reading abridged versions and I wouldn't even consider that an option.

Not just British folklore, but also Norse and Germanic, which could be considered ancestors of of British folklore (as the British Isles contained people descended from those cultures regions.) Also those three places are the countries/regions that I think most exemplify 'whiteness', in so far as it exists, so it makes sense that they would also be included.

Even the resident misogynist has more empathy than these women!

Eh, I think most of us agree that individuals that 'abuse' their freedoms should be punished, but we shouldn't remove those freedoms from everyone else because of the actions of a small portion of society. For example, drunk drivers should be punished, but prohibiting the sale of alcohol or setting up sobriety checkpoints are wrong.

I don't know. It's either a Netflix or Amazon original, but I'd suggest you just pirate it unless you have a friend relative that you can't convince to stop paying for their account that's willing to share it with you.

Edit: IMDB says it's on FXNow, so I guess it's an FX original. My comment about piracy still stands though.

That's just hypocrisy, not oxymoronic.

PA state rep. I know it's not clear from the single tweet, but this is just a stunt being pulled because leftists don't like that Texas has banned abortion after a heartbeat is detected, so they're proposing a bunch of 'parody' bills that really just show how demented they are (along the lines of "abortion is a satanic riteand can't be prohibited under the 1st Amendment.")

I'd suggest you repost with the title corrected since as of yet I appear to be the only commenter, so we aren't losing much discussion.

Because if you used that term instead of Marxism when describing how the left has changed society over the past century or two, you'd be accused of anti-semitism.

I think depression often indicates a sick society rather than a sick individual. Treating what is a normal reaction to societal decay with drugs or brain implants is a horrible idea.

About the only time I'd consider a chip in my brain is to try to fix being blind. Or perhaps paralysis or something totally debilitating like that.

Go watch Upgrade. Fascinating little movie.

It's not fake, it's just grandstanding, in the form of a 'parody' of Texas' recent Heartbeat Bill.

ex Leftist friend

As in a friend that is no longer leftist, or a leftist that is no longer a friend? In the second case it should be "leftist ex-friend". In the first case, they still have a lot of deprogramming needed based on the comments they're making.

LoTR isn't allegory. Tolkien explicitly denyed this (either in a letter, or the introduction of some printed versions. Possibly both.)

My brain keeps reading "tyranny" as "tranny" (I blame the fact that these two things are closely related in the west now, in addition to only being a letter apart) and got a very different mental image...

Criminalization of normal behavior; applauding actual criminality.

I'd call this "Anarcho-tyranny", but that's just using selective enforcement to keep the criminals advancing your cause from being punished, and heavily punishing anyone that resists. This is a full step further. To quote Isaiah 5:20 "Calling evil good, and good evil."

Ripley never straight up challenges anyone/thing in the trilogy (and I wouldn't really consider her an action hero anyway). She always outsmarts them with whatever equipment she has on hand. The characters actions and abilities are really quite grounded in those movies (IMO).

The recent Alita movie wasn't woke, but I would hold that this is almost always correct at this point (although any major movie is going to tend to be woke more often than not now, so maybe it's not as good an indicator as it seems.)

Can CW even do like two good seasons at this point?

Stop caring about things you have no control over.

This is incredibly difficult when those things directly affect my life (at least for me). For example, my employer was weeks ahead of Biden on the vaccine/testing mandate. I've thus far managed to avoid any direct changes as I've been working from home since they announced the requirement, but I've probably only got another couple weeks before the issue is forced.

I have a 'goal' to alleviate the issues this is causing, but actually making steps toward that goal is difficult because due to how drained I've become I'm having difficulty even working up motivation to come up with a proper plan (something which I didn't use to find difficult, even when under significant stress/depression.) I could just quit to alleviate most of the stress, but that leaves me without an income and as yet no other reliable means of getting one.

I know that my emotions shouldn't control me, but I've come to a point where I feel there are few acceptable logical solutions remaining and until I have a specific plan to achieve those I can't even force myself through the steps I find distasteful. My old methods of withdrawing inward until I find a solution hasn't worked for a while, and no one else has, as yet, been able to give me a path that doesn't involve waiting out my current situation (or requires something of me that I've lost the drive to do on my own.)

I guess that's enough venting. I hope that most of you are faring better than me (at least emotionally).

I don't want this bitch spitting in my food. I think the only thing they're qualified to handle is waste.
