It's hard to imagine anyone running it worse than Zenimax themselves did. And yet I'm still not hopeful.
im just surprised Todd convinced them it was all worth THAT much.... jesus the only successful franchise out of that list right now is DOOM and thats all down to ID being the amazing tallanted bastards that they are.
This whole thing is reminding me of the Disney acquisition of Fox, where the buyer seems to have seriously overestimated the value of the company they bought. I mean, Bethesda has some popular IPs under their belt, but all of them combined are not worth more than the freaking Star Wars IP, which is a song compared to what Microsoft spent here! And that's without taking into account how much Bethesda Game Studios has tanked its reputation with Fallout 76 and is nowhere near delivering another TES, how Arkane has only released one commercial failure after another, and how...everything else is such a nonentity. ID really is all Zenimax has going right now.
I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up backfiring on Microsoft.
MS is really zigzagging on the whole SJW-Shebang. On the on hand they are clearly in the buisness of making money primarly and their core-products are relatively unwoke, on the other hand they accept shitshows like the GitHub-CoC-Fiasco.

7.5 billion maybe in 2010 but in 2020? I know they're trying hard to get ahead on the next gen war but fuck...7500000000/300 is 25 million. You can give away 25 million Series S systems instead and make the money back from tax write-off, live subscriptions and mictrotransactions and I reckon it'd be a better use of 7.5 billion dollars.

Doom, Fallout, and Wolfenstein have been three of my favorite franchises, but the latter two in particular have trended the wrong direction pretty hard so I'd sort of given up on them. I'm not sure Microsoft can make them any worse--I suppose they could make Doom woke too. So, I'm not sure I care. I've been leaning more Japanese in game selections lately.
I don't really care what happens to Bethesda at this point, but I'm getting concerned by all the buyouts Microsoft has been doing lately. It's like they're becoming the Disney of video games, buying up everything so that their fingers will be in every pie in the industry. And believe me, those are going to get very dirty.
