Racial beauty jousting brings out the most chaotic sentiments here. Chest thumping over white women when everyone hates them otherwise, mail order brides, yellow fever, on and on lol. Part of it seems to be a complex developed from media portraying only the most dog-faced white women while Eastern media is great at picking the absolute hottest Asian women.
I will say that Japanese game devs are good at highlighting gorgeous white girls too. I'm mostly thinking of Resident Evil with both face models for Jill Valentine and Claire Redfield, Ashley, and most recently Grace. All of them are insanely well-realized. Ashley in particular was famously face modeled by a Scandi girl and body modeled by ANOTHER Scandi girl with bigger boobs and hips. Then there's Kojima with Stefanie Joosten.
That's what I like about Japanese people. They're really the only other culture that celebrates merit itself to any significant extent.
That makes sense actually... there are zero attractive asian female actresses in shows/movies and characters in western made games. The only one i can think of is the ada wong actress in those resident evil movies in the early 2000s. Meanwhile, they have been pushing handsome asian males like koreans in a lot of action movies.
Im asian and all asian media media uses at least aesthetically pleasing people if not beautiful/handsome. Even comical looking people or characters arent repulsive to look at.
Most asian characters in the west are either odd looking or with squinty ass eyes.. meanwhile i watch hong kong movies and no quinty eyes in sight.
