Censoring the ability to make a name only you can see is wild. I could get why they would do it for the Pokémon because of online trading, but not being able to call Gary FuckFace is a slap in the face to the older fan base they drastically really on for income.
The charitable (and honestly realistic) take is that the word filter check they added was just slapped on to any name entry field since it all uses the same system anyways. Why bother trying to carve out specific exceptions to something almost nobody cares about in the first place, assuming they even wanted to?
For the record, $20 for these ports is a crazy ask, especially when the only online feature being added is Pokemon Home support. Modern Nintendo is really depressing, and it's really difficult to convince people not to consume product because of how locked in Nintendo fanboys are.
Being a sane Nintendo fan and watching everything get more and more dumbed down is a painful experience. Especially when the drones still eat it all up. I'll never forgive them for what they did to the Thousand Year Door remake's script.
I’ve never played the switch version, but in the original games the trainer name shows up on the Pokemon information. If online trading is allowed, that may be why the censoring is applied. They probably don’t want a kid getting a traded pokemon with an obscene OT name attached.
When you start the game, you're given a list of haircuts. If you chose a masculine haircut, the game will refer to you with He/ Him pronouns, and vise versa if your choose a feminine haircut. It's a subtle way to avoid the question triggering faggots while also not capitulating to them.
But media preservation is illegal unless you wait 120 years or whatever for the copyright to expire!(at which point all legal copies will be nonfunctional)
Does anyone actually play through these shovelware emulator ports? It seems like people collect them as totems. They just like knowing that they have them.
They do, because for example, all the event items you had to go to GameStop for as a kid care given to you upon beating Blue/Gary in this port, and you can transfer those Pokemon to your copy of Scarlet and Violet (usually after a 2-3 month waiting period)
“In the future everything will be worse!”
And Brother, when we say everything, we mean EVERYTHING
Did I hear someone say emulator?
Nah, I still got my cartridge that I found on the side of the road back in college.

Isnt the nentdork fanbase slightly less cucked than the Disney baby fanbase?

Oh the libtard scale they’re better than Disney and Harry Potter adults but that’s not really saying much

Even if you played online, god forbid I call myself neegger
Does Prof Oak still ask if you're a boy or a girl? Or has it been replaced with body types or the like?
"Do you look like a bitch?"
"Does Marcellus Wallace LOOK LIKE A BITCH?!"
What?!
“Are you a xir or a xie?”
In the newer games they ask for body type
No, that's now determined by ... your haircut!

Hmm gee, more proof we need to actively preserve classic games or they'll be co-opted and corrupted like everything else.
Imagine what they can do to books!
Piracy is a moral duty.

"Telemetry" means spyware.
What a joke lmao

The fact that it's a phone game should have been a clue.
