I sometimes comment in a community called wayofthebern, which is sort of a dissident left wing but good intentioned free speech sub, and reddit has been slowly purging the folks there over the past year
It's founder guy Fthumb got banned about a year ago for an absurd reason (talking about Israeli influence in Biden's cabinet), the entire website Saidit used as a backup got nuked, and out of the original folks there everyone is dwindling down

Sorry if this seems off topic to the sub or whatever, but I've been reminded of this sub during the Epstein emails and revelations, which brought me back to Kotaku-in-Action #1's original founder being a subversive trying to gatekeep everyone, which reminded me of this place
Reddit... Isn't that that place Epstein curated and controlled?
No, you're thinking of u/MaxwellHill
Epstein ran 4chan in order to capture both sides of the "culture war"...
That shithole hasn't been usable in almost a decade. It's just a place where pedophiles go to talk about their lady dicks now. The only surprising thing about this situation is that they haven't run out of dissidents to purge yet.
That's the beauty of the left. There's always an infinite supply of former sycophants that can be labeled then purged as fresh wrongthinkers.
Like slashdot after Clinton was elected the place was always a leftist cesspool. And may have even been before, but coming from 12 years of GOP leadership it seemed like it was just proper push back against government policies during the GOP era and conservative voices could still be heard. Once Clinton got into office suddenly all opposition to the government stopped and anything the DNC did was blessings from on high. Conservatives could still be heard but got downvoted into oblivion. Bush got into office and suddenly it was all opposition to the government all the time but still somewhat civil. 9/11 and the war on terror changed all that and seemed to bring out the worst in the frothing libs. Then Obama got into office and the chains were off - each year getting worse as Obama’s communist movements and reality distortion field kicked in. Then Trump started running and the full blown totalitarianism started with the “deplatforming and banning” censorship is now widely encouraged.
Sorry - off tangent there - but even with all the conservative attacks, many obscure subreddits (specific games, technologies, etc) were still relatively politics free. Now?! Good lord… first it was no kings everywhere and now it’s fuck ice - join my protest! Communists (probably intentionally because they’re dumbassed stupid) have literally destroyed all spaces of honest intellectual debate.
I haven't been on Slashdot for over a decade. It was a real leftist cesspool when I visited (but every so often a right-winger made such an inarguable point that they got a good post score). The final nail in the coffin for me was when they disabled anonymous posting. Supposedly it was to minimize abuse, but I suspect it was a move to curb the exchange of ideas.
You can still post anonymously but you have to have an account, then select "anonymous".
That particular case was tricky because there were a lot of spammers/trollers that would use the anonymous posting to flood posts with junk. Sure you could block by IP but that's easily spoofed and gotten around. It seemed a decent compromise though I'm not sure how post anonymously affects your karma.
Regardless the editors are all super biased. I've posted lots of technical news that leans conservative and it never gets posted. EG They were happy to post that Bush used Emails in a potential illegal manner, having both a private email server for political work and governmental one while in the white house - which is a legal requirement to separate official work from campaign work. But when I tried to post any articles about Hillary's email server, everything was radio silent and never got any posting.
Weird. There were other postings about her e-mail server though. And how she was supposed to turn over files, but instead ''accidentally'' deleted them. Also how Trump was accused of colluding with Russia, but it was actually Hillary who had proven dealings with Russia.
I believe that your submissions were never published, it's just that there were postings about Hillary, for what it's worth.
Also - anonymous posting is possible again. Since a few months as far as I can tell.
They may have made one or two posts, especially when she was “exonerated” there were no multiple postings day after day keeping the narrative alive with different aspects of the story.
It was buried.
Reddit stage 1 - you have your original genitals/breasts
Reddit stage 2 - you regret the mutilation
Reddit stage 3 - take that anger and go burn some trees for climate justice or get shot helping illegals replace you
Every sub that gets a whiff of being on the front page is mercilessly moderated to be as left as possible. Subs like r/law and r/news have been curated for years to skew any perception of justice and accuracy into the liberal lefts favor.
I'm always amazed how all the sportsball subs are 100% pozzed to shit.
I understand that most of the dissident right considers all sportsball to be embarrassing waste of time distraction goyslop.
But not that long ago your average sportsball enjoyer demographically would've been a middle-aged to Gen X/boomer beer-drinking father/grandfather red-blooded blue collar male.
You would think this cohort would be at least somewhat putoff by all the alphabet mafia agitprop, the nigger worship & all the TDS. But there's zero signs of any resistance in these niches.
The sad thing as well is that the Redditfication of sports commentary has all but killed off any of the little independent forums & blogs that might've actually had some semblance of diversity of opinions.
You aren’t wrong. The demographic you describe I believe is still there, they just don’t voice their opinion on Reddit and it mainly stays in their local watch party commentary and never makes it online.
That’s because it’s been moderated that way. Hidden in controversial, then just removed altogether and move to ban the user who posted it. That is the Reddit M.O. these days (past several years really).
I agree about the demographic. I know some people who think it's run by political extremists who want us dead, but still give them traffic because they like some of the funny and hobbyist subs.
Eh, even the independent forums were mostly being consolidated into conglomerates that strictly enforced the leftist hivemind.
Used to follow the comments at a San Antonio Spurs fan forum called Pounding the Rock and right around 2016 it went to shit.
Sports went downhill when they became requirements for academic placement and gained commentary. Then they became hipster bullshit and then went all in on joining the left in their various crusades. The only sports that aren't pozzed are the small ones that don't have huge followings. Everything else is pozzed or slowly becoming pozzed.
To the bolsheviks, talking about their influence is a HATE CRIME!
I hadn't noticed.
Somewhere around a year ago it basically became impossible to start any new account with any combination of VPN servers and burner emails. If it wasn't shadowbanned immediately, it tripped some byzantine filter in the first week or so and got shadowbanned.
I assume you just have to buy accounts from brokers now if you actually want to post anything. Not worth it at the rate that accounts are rendered useless.
GAFS and Fosscad are dead, there's just no reason to be there anymore.
The midterms are coming up. That's why they've started banning people again. Every election coincides with a preceding wave of bans of 'undesirable voices'.
Reddit is online real estate of the DNC.
That's why Trump should have brought the hammer down on Reddit.
I thought that was the typical mod behavior on that site for years now? Is this new or something?
