Because Gabe is a Microsoft alumni and understands very well how they could trivially leverage their power to destroy him. If he has hardware and software he controls, then he becomes unkillable like Apple.
Microsoft shot Xbox twice in the back of the head, Playstation has the reputation of movie games hanging over it like a wet fart, and Nintendo went full bean-counter mode with the Switch 2.
Since all of Valve's rivals are busy sabotaging themselves, now would be as good a time as any to try the Steam console again.
Because its realistically the only way for them to expand, by taking over the home console market.
And honestly, being able to just plug your Steam account into your big screen in the living room is something with a lot of appeal for a lot of people. The "Steam Family" thing already made huge grounds on that regard, in terms of making it an actual family based ecosystem instead of a singular person's.
There are way too many much better and more affordable systems that'll run 4K games and SteamOS (or better yet, Bazzite). I don't need to support depravity, Gabe.
Loathesome trannies aside, I'll happily switch to SteamOS to never have to worry about Microsoft again. After some time, the Linux ecosystem will adapt fully to PC gaming and then I can hop onto Arch or something as a permanent OS. I hope the GabeCube brings us another step closer to the death of Windows.
Strange marketing all around. Even down to the lighting and colour scheme. It's just a depressing image. It's daylight outside and no sunlight enters the room.
Usually advertising takes a "This could be you" approach. Who wants to be in this image?
ok, those are ugly trannies. This is concerning
I think the one on the right might be a dyke but when you get that size it doesn’t really matter.
And I just started playing a steam boy....
Did you just misgender it?
I looked at the dongles and assumed.
It's called a Steam Child now, to be gender neutral
A steamkinx for those in the know.
I'm at the point where I welcome another flood.
but fatties float pretty well 🫤
What i get out of that image is.. if i buy this device, im gonna be a faggot or tranny.
Thus, i shall not buy it cause i dont want to be mistaken or associated with this device in which others assume i am a faggot or tranny.
Didn't this thing fail like twice already? Why does Valve want to be a console manufacturer so badly?

The SteamDeck was actually successful and locked people into the Steam ecosystem pretty well
