It doesn't look unlikely at this point, though far from certain.
Some media is reporting they are investigating a residence on Atherton Road in Burton, Michigan.
Some on social media say they saw the house that was filled with cops and the google streetview shows a Trump/Vance sign on the back fence.
It has both a house and a trailer at the same address though, so it is quite possible multiple families/generations are living at the address. (IE trump sign or even the truck used in the shooting could be owned by grandpa, etc)

One thing to keep in mind though, the some outlets suggest he planted bombs beforehand, so it likely wasn't a crime of passion and leaving/putting the flags in his truck bed for the shooting was a deliberate decision.
Anything is possible, but I just wish people would be honest. Unless it's explicitly politically motivated/targeted, it's pretty disingenuous to go to that. If a leftist kills someone for being a "Trumper," a "fascist," a "Nazi," or similar...yeah, that's politically motivated leftwing violence. (Somehow still rightwing, as far as media/ADL reporting goes, though.)
If a Republican kills someone because the aliens told him to...yeah, don't really care about the dude's politics. That's a mental health issue. I'm guessing this is going to be somewhat similar, since this guy is also a veteran. Veteran and family man = rightwing, as far as the media is concerned.
Its just the playbook that creating "hate crimes" allowed into existence. Where suddenly if you are white and commit a crime against a black, then you possibly were racially motivated and its somehow a "bigger" injustice. Even if they crime is entirely logical without the race angle.
Once we opened the door to those kind of mitigating circumstances, then everyone was always going to rush to try and take advantage of it for their team.
