Its just the playbook that creating "hate crimes" allowed into existence. Where suddenly if you are white and commit a crime against a black, then you possibly were racially motivated and its somehow a "bigger" injustice. Even if they crime is entirely logical without the race angle.

Once we opened the door to those kind of mitigating circumstances, then everyone was always going to rush to try and take advantage of it for their team.
